The Pan Am Experience

The Pan Am Experience

Fly the retro skies
Can air travel ever be cool again? According to CNN, Pan Am Experience host Anthony Toth thinks so. The Pan Am Experience, located inside LA’s aviation-themed Air Hollywood film studio, recreates the airline’s 60s heyday aboard a 747 Boeing. The plane never leaves the ground but passengers are greeted with bubbly and served a four-course meal by stewardesses in retro garb, among other frills. Costs are on par with a real flight at $267-$327 per person, but at least there’s a guarantee of no turbulence.

Pigging out
An “emotional support” pig and his person were booted off a flight last week at Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport. According to CNN, a passenger aboard a Washington-bound flight brought aboard an un-crated hog who promptly began to defecate in the aisles and howl loudly. Both pig and passenger were escorted off the plane. Here’s hoping we can still travel with the “emotional support” ostrich we adopted last week.

Lagging behind?
Is too much business travel and international jetsetting screwing with your body? According to Yahoo!, there are scientific ways to combat jet lag, including blue light therapy, intravenous vitamin treatments, rigorous supplement use, acupuncture and even a little magic in the form of a jinx-removing candle. Huh, we wonder if this writer’s ever heard of a little cure called “Make mine a double”?

A near cat-astrophe
If cats could talk, we know of one feline who would tell apretty harrowing story. According to ABC News, a moving company boxed up Virginia woman Ashely Barth’s beloved feline Mee Moowe as part of her recent move from the East Coast to Hawaii. Thirty-six days later her boxes arrived in the Aloha State including one containing a nearly starved to death Mee Moowe. Let’s hope this cat got some free miles out of the ordeal.

Let’s not go there
Thank goodness it’s about the journey not the destination, because some destinations suck. According to FOX News, readers of the popular social network and news website Reddit voted on the most disappointing travel destinations on earth. Topping the list are Jamaica, Dubai, Venice, Paris, Stonehenge and the Pyramids. In the #1 spot was Los Angeles, of which readers claimed, “The whole city is a lie.” Um, exactly. That’s why we love it.
