Plan for the new Lucas Museum in Chicago

Liz tailored
A Canadian man is seeking a female travel companion, but not just any woman will do. As reported by BBC News, Jordan Axani, 28, has decided that, after being dumped by his girlfriend before a trip around the world together, he’d give her ticket away for free rather than change the name on it. The catch? Your name has to be Liz Gallagher. Every woman’s dream: Traveling the world with a strange dude who is also lazy.

Major league headache
A dispute between Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman and councilwoman Lois Tarkanian is keeping the city from obtaining its first pro sports team. According to USA Today, a pro soccer team could make its way to town provided councilwoman Tarkanian caves and allows use of public money to build the facility. Oursuggestions for team tames? How about the Las Vegas Card Counters or the Sin City Pole Cats?

A long time ago, on a lakefront not so far away…
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is coming to the Chicago lakefront and according to CNN, Beijing-based MAD Architects and Chicago’s own Studio Gang have released renderings that envision a floating disc above the surrounding harbor including three levels of exhibition space, an observation deck with panoramic Lake and city views and—hopefully—a cafe named Java the Hut.

‘Tis the off season
The Huffington Post this week weighed the pros and cons of traveling off season, including less expensive airfare and hotel rates, and smaller crowds as pros. Meanwhile, noting inclement weather fell into the cons list. It says Europe and Orlando are off-season gems while islands in the off season are best avoided. We also recommend avoiding off season travel to places like Indiana, which happens to be year round.

All work and no play
Business hotels are a drag, or are they? CNN rounded up 11 hotels this week that put the pizazz back in business including Spain’s Barcelo Malaga and its indoor slide, the in-room iPads at Denver’s Crawford Hotel and Tokyo’s Palace Hotel, which includes a four-hour session on Japanese etiquette. Another option is the Ryugyong Hotel. It’s abandoned and in North Korea but we guarantee it’s not boring.
