CHICAGO, Feb. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) ­­ Orbitz Worldwide (NYSE:OWW), one of the world’s leading online travel companies, announced today the promotion of Chris Orton to the role of Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately.

Chris joined Orbitz Worldwide in 2010 as Chief Marketing Officer, and in 2011 was named President of Orbitz.com and CheapTickets, the Company’s online travel agency brands in the United States.

As Chief Operating Officer Chris will have responsibility for all of the Orbitz Worldwide online travel agency brands worldwide including Orbitz.com, CheapTickets and ebookers, which operates in 12 countries across Europe.

Prior to joining Orbitz Chris was senior director of Internet marketing at eBay, Inc., responsible for the company’s paid search, shopping comparison, search engine optimization, affiliates and display marketing channels. Chris joined eBay in 2003 after 8 years of CRM and ERP consulting at Kana Software, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Andersen Consulting (Accenture). Chris has an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from the University of California, Davis.
