Orbitz best place to work in Chicago

Orbitz Worldwide ranks among the top 10 companies in the U.S. and is the top-rated Chicago-based company on Glassdoor’s fifth annual Employees’ Choice Awards list, which recognizes the 50 Best Places to Work for job seekers in the upcoming year. Glassdoor’s position as a leading social media jobs and career community continues to growwith more than 4 million pieces of employee-generated content, including company reviews, salary reports, interview questions and reviews, office photos, and more to give job seekers valuable insight into prospective employers.

Orbitz placed number 9 on the coveted Best Places to Work list, receiving a 4.3 out of 5.0 rating from employees. Orbitz Worldwide CEO Barney Harford’s approval rating from reviews shared is 88% compared to the average CEO approval rating of 69% for all CEOs on Glassdoor. Along with its position as the highest-rated Chicago-based company, Orbitz is also the highest ranked travel industry company and only online travel company on the 2014 list.

The 2014 Best Places to Work list is determined by using feedback employees voluntarily and anonymously provide via an online company survey. The survey asks the employee how satisfied they are at work, if they approve of the job the CEO is doing, the pros and cons of working at the company, and what advice they would give to senior management. Orbitz Worldwide employs almost 1500 employees, including nearly 800 at its Chicago corporate headquarters. It is one of the world’s leading online travel sites, operating in over 140 countries and annually generating more than $11 billion in travel bookings.

The Glassdoor announcement comes on the heels of Orbitz earning a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2014 Corporate Equality Index.
