When you think of Walt Disney World, you typically picture days filled with walking the parks, riding attractions and spending time with family. While all that those activities are lovely, it can also be exhausting to be constantly on the go. That’s why you should make sure that one of your stops is at Senses, a new Disney-owned full-service spa and health club.

After I ran the Walt Disney World Marathon in January, I headed over to the spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. I was blown away by the ambiance and amenities offered:

  • When I first arrived, I was greeted by a Cast Member and escorted into the relaxation area. I came straight from the finish line, so I was able to shower and freshen up. They had everything I needed, from shampoo and conditioner to deodorant. You can store your belongings in a locker that you keep secure with a private pin number.  I got changed into a comfy, white plush robe and slippers and headed into the wet relaxation area, which had a whirlpool, steam room and relaxation lounge chairs.
  • When you walk into the room you immediately feel relaxed. The green lounge chairs are heated and contoured to fit your body like a glove. As I lay down on the chair, I instantly felt all the muscles in my body relax. Afterwards I sank into the warm whirlpool and let the bubbles soothe my aching muscles. I dried off in the warm sauna. Staying hydrated after running is essential, but I had no problem doing so, as the waiting room within the relaxation area had cucumber infused water and hot tea. There was also a bowl full of fresh fruit and a tray full of sweet treats. I indulged while I sat in the relaxation chair and waited for my massage therapist to retrieve me for my appointment.
  • Once my massage therapist called me back, I entered the treatment room.  The room was dimly lit and exuded luxury with the warm earth tone color, ivory linens and heated massage table. I enjoyed the 50-minute Swedish massage and left feeling completely renewed. There are a wide variety of spaservices to choose from, including warm stone massages, facials, exfoliation treatments and manicure/pedicures. If you would like a day of beauty, consider one of the spa packages.
  • For those celebrating a wedding at Walt Disney World, the bride will love the Relaxing Bridal Package, which includes a distress bath, massage, facial and pedicure, while the newlywed couple will love relaxing together with the couples massage option. Even young spa-goers can soak their toes with Princess Pedicures, available for youngsters ages 4-12.

No matter what service you choose, one thing is for certain: you will leave Senses relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to enjoy the rest of your stay at Walt Disney World.
