The twilight zone: Twilight enthusiasts will gather in Orlando starting December 9, vampire gear intact.

By Jennifer Olvera

Vampires. Werewolves. Everyone loves them these days – especially when they’re fighting over a certain doe-eyed teen. Whether you’re on team Edward or team Jacob, you can curb vampire cravings during one out-there version of Orlando vacations, when the Twilight Convention takes a bite out of Hilton Orlando Resort Lake Buena Vista, December 9-11.

But be forewarned: it’s not cheap. A “gold” pass buys you the works: admission to the Volturi vampire ball; daily main-floor access to events such as signings, Q&A sessions and contests; and in-person autographs from celebs, including Nikki Reed (Rosalie), Charlie Bewley (Demetri) and Bronson Pelletier (Jared). It’ll set you back $269 per person.

The next tier down, “preferred” ($169), gives you early – though not first –access to much of the same, and single day passes are being offered Friday through Sunday for $20 (or $45 for preferred, single day).

Is your head spinning yet? Well, there’s more. You can also purchase a $39 weekend pass sans reserved seating; that will land you in the rear of the auditorium. Then, you can purchase single autographs, depending on who you desire. Nikki Reed’s pen strokes, for example, costs $30, while Judi Shekoni’s (Zafrina) rings in at $20.

If you’re really into the scene, let it be known there’s a monthly Sanford Vampire and Shadowlore meet-up of area “vampires.” (Who knows? You might even glimpse members in the crowd.) Otherwise, you’ll have to arrive early and plan in advance; the upcoming meeting is scheduled prior to the event.

Given you’ve already made the trip to the Orlando area, take advantage of the hotel’s complimentary shuttle to Disney Theme Parks or consider renting a car for some road trip-style fun.
