How many times have you opened an email touting a great travel deal, only to forget to take advantage of it after reading the dozens of other new emails in your inbox? According to Hotmail, the average person receives more than 200 email messages per week (outside of work). And until now, most HTML emails have required you to click out of an email and go to the sender’s website to take advantage of an offer – something most of us intend to do once we finish checking our emails.

Today, Hotmail and select partners — Orbitz, Monster.com, Linkedin and Netflix — are introducing a new type of dynamic email that delivers up-to-date content the moment the message is opened. (Orbitz and Monster launch today, Linkedin and Netflix are coming soon.) Even better, the content in the message is more interactive in that it lets Hotmail users take action from right inside the message as opposed to clicking out to the sender’s website. Known as Hotmail’s Active Views platform, this new technology is changing email for the better as Hotmail users are now able to safely and easily do more within an email message than has previously been possible. Now, when Hotmail users receive emails from Orbitz, they’ll be able to search for hotels right inside the email itself, and go directly to Orbitz.com only when they’re ready to complete their booking.
