When it comes to New York vacations, if you don’t have an insider to rely on it’s near impossible to know where to situate yourself for that bona-fide experience. Which is probably why Trump SoHo New York was built. Of the many New York hotels, Trump SoHo is like a 46-story beacon that says “Right here, people. This is where it’s at.” One of the newest upscale New York hotels, it’s situated smack-dab in the middle of the SoHo neighborhood in Manhattan, the epicenter of all things arty and chic. Some of the locals would be judged too cool for school by most standards, but Trump SoHo’s not all about location. Not entirely. Even if you decided you didn’t want to explore the surrounding neighborhood, there’s enough to do inside to keep you busy.

The hotel’s restaurant/bar, Quattro Gastronomia Italiana is multi-leveled, gorgeous, and reasonably priced — the average plate around $40. Kastel, the hotel’s upscale cocktail lounge, serves signature cocktails and caters to an exclusive guest-list crowd after 10 p.m. Tip: Arrive early and drink slow.

Upstairs, rooms start in the mid-$300s, and most familiar with the Trump name would guess that this ain’t your father’s Holiday Inn. One look inside the opulent rooms and you’ll know where the money went. From floor to ceiling windows to designer bed linens to my second-favorite amenity (next to 24-hour room service, which is also offered), deep soaking bath tubs. All said, there’s no way to stay and not feel like you’ve lapped in some serious NYC luxury.
