Norwegian Cruise Line's new Epic sets sail on July 17, 2010

Norwegian Cruise Line's new Epic sets sail on July 17, 2010

With a name like Epic, expectations are already set quite high for Norwegian Cruise Line’s latest – and greatest – vessel, which begins its maiden voyage on July 17, 2010, crossing the pond from London to New York. Year-round Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises will follow, and in Spring of 2011, she’ll dock in Barcelona to offer Western Mediterranean sailings. While the Epic’s destinations are surely impressive, the onboard amenities are just as remarkable. In addition to debuting the largest spa at sea boasting the ultra-luxurious 24-karat gold facial, the Epic will be setting some other cruise ship records as well: the Epic Plunge towers above all other onboard bowl slides, and The Villas will claim the title of largest suite complex at sea.

Speaking of accommodations, the Epic offers a little something for every type of traveler. Want to unwind and escape? Opt for a spa stateroom, which features an in-room hot tub and exclusive access to the Courtyard Area and The Epic Club. If you’re sailing solo, book one of the brand-new Studios complete with a full-sized bed, extra personal space and private access to the Studio Lounge where you can meet up with friends, family, or other guests. There are also lots of choices if you’re bringing the kids along, including family balcony rooms and a large selection of connecting staterooms.

When hunger strikes, the Epic provides a wealth of places to grab some grub, including the Manhattan Room, a New York-Style Supper Club, and Wasabi, a Japanese sushi and sake bar. Even better, 11 of the 21 onboard dining options are complimentary! For those guests looking to add some entertainment into the mix, there’s also the Cirque Dreams™ & Dinner show, which serves up tableside acrobatics and even some audience participation as well. The top names don’t stop there; Blue Man Group and The Second City comedy troupe are just a few of theother headliners onboard. After catching a performance, cruisers can stay cool in the only Ice Bar at sea or heat things up at Posh, an upscale beach club.

Cruises on the ship that set sail well into 2011 are already available to book. If you’re in the market for a Europe or Caribbean cruise, and in the mood for colossal excitement, activities and accommodations, the Epic just might be your best bet.
