We really enjoyed our stay at the Hacienda Minerva. It is conveniently located for Zuheros, Cordoba, Subbetica, ruta verde, and many other inland Andalucian towns. The accommodation was comfortable and spacious. We tried the hammam and that was very relaxing. The food was amazing and the staff were helpful and friendly. A lovely characterful place to unwind and relax in or come back to for a more active day out. Can recommend it unreservedly.
This hotel is very picturesque, both in its location on a hillside overlooking a glorious valley and hills and next to the bike path. The inner courtyards and very nice and colorful with a variety of plants everywhere. There are also swalllows flying everywhere. The public rooms are nicely paneled and furnished. Our room was small, particularly for being out in the country versus a cramped city but mostly OK. It overlooked the valley which was very nice. However the shower head could not be fixed to the wall resulting in awkward showering and some inadvertent sprays on the floor. You also had to step up into the bathroom which I thought was hazardous at night. The lock to the door was a key that had to be fiddled with to both turn the cylinder and to move the bolt. My wife had quite a bit of trouble with it. However the lack of maintenance of the general property was it's biggest failing. The pool was not cleaned of bugs and leaves, all the lounge chairs were broken and some had bird deposits on them, only one umbrella for the entire area, a stray dog had left deposits that we had to report, and the bathrooms had no soap or even evidence of a soap dispenser. Another public room also had no soap in the bathrooms where a cooking class was held. All those swallows left their deposits everywhere as well and it seemed to me that there was no regular cleaning to get rid of that. The included breakfast was on a patio with a spectacular view but the breakfast itself was the most meager of our bicycling tour. My pet peeve on top of cleanliness is no wifi in the rooms. In this day and age, I find it annoying.
Repurposed as a country hotel the hacienda is a comfortable and charming hostelry. Surrounded by olive groves and walking trails it evokes an earlier time in the quiet countryside. I arrived first by bus to Zuheros, then walked the few kilometres of rail trail to reach it. After a day away I returned to the Hacienda by car in the dark of night using the GPS. It directed me flawlessly over the well paved country back roads back to my wife and friends.
We stayed here with a bicycle group in October, 2016 and it was a lovely experience. The biking around Zuheros is fabulous - great views, fantastic hills and calm, polite drivers. The hotel is a very sweet and calm place. The room was small'ish but well equipped, very quiet and came with a great mountain view. The hotel appears to have been lovingly restored from its previous purpose with as much reclaimed items as possible, mixing new fixtures with antique tiles and beams. Altogether a good combination. The breakfast was filling and they still make coffee the old fashioned way. Had a nice dinner here and slept well. The pool looked beautiful but it had turned too cold when we arrived. The pretty courtyards and sense of peace are what have stayed with me since my visit. i wish i had had the time to partake of the Arab baths which i heard were very good.
This is a most excellent place to stay in the countryside of Andalucia. The facility is wonderful and the restaurant was excellent. The Via Verde trail is just steps away and a good place to hike or bike. Also, the cat and I really got along.
Please read to the end... there was so much wrong with this hotel - eccentric hot water supply so I never managed a hot bath or shower, malfunctioning key, no armchair despite lots of space for one, nothing to put luggage on, understaffed spa, bedroom so dark I didn't notice that the duvet didn't have a cover until I was packing to leave - but we had some excellent meals, the hotel is just lovely and an excellent base for walkers or cyclists, and I would definitely go again! In fact I loved it....
We really enjoyed our stay at the hacienda! The staff was warm and friendly, the room: enormous, our dinner: delicious. The heated bathroom floor in our suite was fantastic, and the toiletry supplies were bountiful (hair dryer included). It's a stunning location: in the middle of the olive grove with a great view of Zuheros. We loved the views in all directions. The baths were closed due to a mechanism cal issue during our stay and they notified us a day ahead via email. Disappointing but understandable. We were offered a discount on massages and took them up on the offer. The massage room was in the area of the baths, and a bit cold, damp and dark. The massage was more if a run down with a huge amount of oil. It makes sense to use what you have! All in all, enjoyable and relaxing. Dinner was great: good wine selection and plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. Our room (2 conjoined rooms and 2 bathrooms) were huge. The shared living room had 2 comfortable couches which were great for relaxing. The table was too talk to use while seated, kind of a strangely paired set. The mini fridge was a nice surprise. The beds were ok: linens were nice but mattress was not overly comfortable. Would def stay again! Thank you!!!
So pretty, high quality hacienda, walking distance from one of the prettiest villages in Andalucia. Beautiful, spacious, warm junior suite room, very good quality in every aspect. Arabic bath and massage were nice after walking at the mountains. Breakfast was luxury, more than you can expect in that price. Dog friendly.
Clean rooms around a central courtyard with running water with nice views from the pool area and topmost patios. We had an excellent meal here and very good breakfast.Nearby bike track with great cycling views
Hotel is run down and poor condition without much charm. For the money you can stay in a Parador and these are a world apart. The room was ok, but unclean. The amount of pubic hairs in my bathroom would suggest the cleaners were on strike. The food in there restaurant whilst tasty was to expensive. This is a place out of touch with what is a fair price. Overall if you are staying in the area I'd recommend driving an hour down the road and staying in the parador in Jaen.
