We stayed here overnight en route to Xi'an. A beautifully appointed hotel with the fabulous food options one comes to expect from this French chain. Choices of bed and pillow styles made for a good nights sleep.
The room was small and looked old, decoration was old-fashioned and lighting was poor. Worst thing is that the air-conditioner was not working on the day we checked in, when I called operator to check, a housekeeping staff was sent to my room and told us that they did not switch on the central air-conditioning system due to temperature drop on the previous rainy day, and there was no other guests complaining, which does not make sense to me. A fan was sent to my room but it didn't help to cool down the temperature. Later I called Concierge and requested to check with the manager whether the air-conditioner could be turned on as it was impossible for us to sleep. A duty manager Mr Liang called back and explained that the air-conditioning system has broken down and the technicians were trying to fix it. I told him if that's the real situation, the staff should have let us know earlier when we asked or even at the time we check in. We understand it was an unexpected situation but how they handled was totally irresponsible to the guest. This was a very unpleasant experience and we were unable to have a good sleep that night. Having said that, I appreciate Mr Liang's sincerity and hospitality in trying to find ways to make us more comfortable and offered complimentary breakfast and limousine to airport for us.
i stayed 2 nights in this hotel. First of all , language barrier. In an international hotel like this, there should be basis knowledge of the English language, which is not the case. Second, smoking policy -- they just continue to smoke inside . The restaurant and bar are not cosy and were very cold the time i was there ( it was -3 ° outside ), so not nice to spend time over there. The quality of the mattress is not good. And last but not least, i always check my account if points or miles are credited, and all points and miles are ok for my last trip, except for this hotel, which was the first in my trip of the last 2 weeks.
Everything very well (room, breakfast, restaurant inside) but very old and unclean (almost out of order) swimming pool and old equipped Fitness Center. ...please invest more money and time to teach staff English. But all staff was friendly and custom-oriented.
We stayed at the Sofitel for five days with our three children. The hotel is recently renovated with a very attractive lobby and dining area. We stayed in a suite and enjoyed the amenities and layout, although we did have a hard time achieving the right temperature in our room. The staff could not have been more helpful. They would run to help us with the elevator or carry items up to our room. The housekeeping staff took it upon themselves to bring in a dry rack for our clothes. Unfortunately, our children became quite sick during our stay, and the staff was so understanding and helpful. In particular, we felt that the assistant manager of the restaurant, Bob Yan, went above and beyond in kindness to our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and we enjoyed room service and dinner in the hotel on more than one occasion. We would most definitely stay here again.
I'm currently at the hotel ..... for last 3 nights now.... (here for another 2 nights) Although I haven't had the opportunity to interact with Raymond The chef, but I can vouch by the service of the courteous hotel staff. They managed to prepare a perfect dish to my specification. I'm vegetarian (and a decent cook myself so I know the trouble in cooking something to perfection) Otherwise also, the staff is really helpful and forthcoming for a zero Chinese speaking guy ..... Oh.... and just as I noticed it today after reading your review..... the lights of the grand dome chandelier go off at 00:00 hours.... Kudos to the hotel...
There are few places that leave indelible memories in my life. Sofitel Zhengzhou (SZ) is definitely one. And, I believe, that must have stemmed from the dèep traditional hospitality one has come to associate with the Chinese people. We did not feel this on our arrival, as there was only the Concierge Manager at the door to greet us at that early hour. And, that's because Bill Cao has been communicating with us, pages over pages (of email), which made light the chores of organising sightseeing trips in a land as vast as China. On that, Zhengzhou, the commercial hub of bustling Henan Province, was no exception. There were loads to take care of, and Mr Cao (曹先生) made it all seem a breeze. In the hot summer heat (of early August), that was a cool welcome, in lieu of the industry-standard Welcome drink, which the FO staff must have overlooked; but, as I said, that was early hour. SZ is a remarkable Accor property. Very quickly, we got to meet all the nice people there, the heart and essence of a truly 5-star Sofitel. The vivacious RM Samantha Yu came up to greet us and even offered to snap a few images of us at the incredibly beautiful front lobby. The towering GM Raymond was hard to miss, made all the more impressionable by his booming voice and effable smiles; very approachable, no airs, hard not to be drawn to him. SF turned out to be five wonderful days of sheer relaxation, doing sweet nothing, enjoying good foods, spirits and wines. The Canton Garden, under the direction of Chinese Restaurant Manager Charles, was really something that would make words sheer flattery. Dome Brasseriè, as the name implies, owes much of its opulence and ambience to the imposing chandelier that hangs from the dome ceiling, some four or five storeys high. Mesmerizing, this thing that turns into an evolving light display, changes colour every few seconds, till first light, I suppose. If what I have set out above is what you are looking for in a place like Zhengzhou, for business or pleasure, SZ would be it. You would want to return to it, if you had seen how they send us off - GM Raymond, RM Samantha, CRM Charles and CM Bill Cao, they wrre all there ar the front entrance, in one line, bidding us fond adieu, tear-jerking. But, that was past mid-day, and all China was awake. Sofitel Zhengzhou, we will be back, if you want us.
Recently refurbished this is outstanding hotel with great facilities. The staff are of a very high standard, very friendly and efficient. Food in the restaurant was outstanding and great value for money. Raymond (GM) a Kiwi made us feel very welcomed and could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Will return!
Sofitel is together with Pullmann my favorite hotel brand to out this into perspective. The centrally located Sofitel is a classical one. Great style, very nice rooms, classy and functional with minor oversights (eg bath tub, but no bath salt or something equivalent). Very good sleep quality. The central part of the hotel is currently under reconstruction. Hence there is only one, quite pricy restaurant with a variety of foods on the 20th floor, that lacks the quality of the hotel respectively to service, menu and food quality. The hotel has a nice gym and pool. But as so often in Sofitels, you'd wish that the employees rather learn something about seamless customer service than welcoming you in French. Very competitive prices currently through online hotel platforms.
The hotel service is good. Room Comfortable. Old part of town has all amenities nearby. Room size is smaller compare to other 5 star in the area. Only problem is I got woken up at midnight a couple time as special service delivery from outside the hotel. Was not pleased with that at midnight considering we all had work to do in the morning.
