Pullman Zhangjiajie

4.5 out of 5.0

I stayed here for 5 night as a base for visiting the Zhangjaijie National Park. It is a very luxurious and well appointed hotel an very close walking distance into the centre of Wulingyuan. A good selection at breakfast and plenty to please a western palate. Lovely views out in the direction of Baofeng Lake. A visitor will not be disappointed.

Pullman Zhangjiajie is a nice hotel. * Air conditioning system is working even in Christmas season. We stayed in another chinese five star hotel and it had only warm air, meaning the temperature is constant at 25 degree Celsius. * Concierge is very helpful in suggesting place to eat and look around and even book a taxi for us. * Staff in the chinese restaurant is also very attentive and helpful. But, there are things that are bothering me....... * Firstly, I booked three executive rooms from ctrip.com at 620yuan per night for three nights. I was told that i can't use the executive room, because they were not booked directly with the hotel. An executive room with lounge access is more than 1000yuan. They only gave us coupon for welcome drinks. What is the use of executive room without lounge access? I can just book the deluxe room at 400 yuan per night, and saves 1,980yuan. Today is January 12, 2018. I tried using hotelscombined.com to search the room rate of pullman zhangjiajie (i choose feb 6, 2018 for the check-in date). Ctrip price for deluxe room and executive room are 65 and 80 us dollar respectively. agoda.com and bookin.com's deluxe room and executive room with executive lounge access price are 60 and 85 us dollar respectively. Agoda.com and booking.com have executive queen room (without specifying lounge access) at 85 us dollar. You tell me that it is intuitive that executive room at 80 us dollar has no executive lounge access. It is very common for a chinese 5 star hotel to offer executive room without executive lounge access, because they really do not have an executive lounge, but it is very uncommon for an internationally branded hotel to sell executive room as two different products, one with access to executive lounge and the other don't, with minimal price difference. * I left my cellphone charger at pullman baiyun airport, so i try to ask the front desk for the phone number of pullman baiyun. The receptionist apologized that she doesn't know the phone number. Hello? I thought you are pullman hotel? The solution is very simple, I search the phone number from the internet. It is just a small thing, but they can do better. * I bought 2 groupon set meal from dianping.com and was told by the chinese restaurant that we can't use them in one table. There are 10 of us composing of two families. So we just split ourselves into 2 tables. I checked the detail of the coupon and there is no indication that we can't use 2 coupons at the same time. Again, a small thing, but i can't understand why they can't provide convenience for their customer. * On one incident when we get back to the hotel, we found one pillow on the floor beside the TV set. We can't help but guess that the cleaning staff put down all the things on the floor when fixing the bed, because this pillow roll to the space between tv set and a furniture, they overlook it and didn't return it to the bed. I told this matter to a hotel staff near the reception table and he jot down notes on this. Overall, although the room and food are average by big cities's standard, but it is a lot better than other chinese 5 star hotel, only that i will always remember they overcharged me by almost 2000 yuan.

I stay for 2 nights at the Pullman Zhangjiajie Hotel to see the beautiful mountains and to walk through the longest glass bridge in the world. The hotel is excellent and also the price is affordable. The rooms are clean, big enough and well equipped. The only problem is the empty mini bar; no idea why nothing is inside, that make no sense for a 5 star hotel chain. Breakfast is good as well, you can find everything you need, as a chinese or as a foreigner. The staff is helpful all the time. I definitely will come back and I going to choose the Pullman Hotel again. I

Located just a short walk from Wulingyuan and entrance to national park although over 1 hr taxi drive from airport. Rooms are spacious if dated. Unfortunately we were given a smoking room despite requesting non smoking room. Facilities were basic with exorbitant charges to hire bicycles or use table tennis.

Zhangjiajie, in the town itself hardly anyone speaks English and that was mostly the case in the hotel but they would go out and about to try and help. The concierge assisted in finding some vegetarian food and organising taxi for the next day for me. He gave me the best option which cut the expense in half. The manager called my room to ask if everything was ok and if there is anything he can assist with. Now that’s genuine care for customers. I was happy with my stay. Also, its walking distance from Zhangjiajie National Park.

Lovely hotel, great dining area, good selection of food and very good service. The views from the hotel are very good, especially from the glass elevator. Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious.

We enjoyed our stay here. Room was big with a huge selection for breakfast. WiFi is good. Sometimes Housekeeping forgot to clean our cups/glasses. Vladimir is the only member of staff who can speak good English and is extremely helpful. Only 15m walk from entrance to National Park or about a 10RMB taxi. For packed lunches and water, walk 10-15m to the huge supermarket on the corner of Wuling Road and Bai Lu Road. Round the corner on Bai Lu Road, there are some local places for cheap street food - we ate big bowls of noodles for 26RMB. Further down is a street shack that sells very good, fresh food. There's 3 vendors - one selling fried noodles or rice; second sells various things on sticks that they BBQ and third cooks in a wok - you just point and choose - no menu (see photos for restaurant name). Opposite this shack is a cheap place for next day laundry. Be careful of the Chinese concierge at the hotel trying to dissuade you from using public transport - they over exaggerated how long it'd take to get a bus to Tianmen mountain (same time as a taxi (1h), takes the toll road and ten-fold cheaper at about 25RMB).

Great hotel! Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Check was quick and staff were very nice. The buffet breakfast - lots of variety - perfect to start a busy day. The cafe was good - late lunches, snacks, supper. The location is so good. Next door, there is an ethnic minority cultural show - really enjoyed it. The township is within 20 mins walk. Interesting sights - market place, old township, river . There is a massage parlour beside the pool area. Perfect for tired legs after a days outing. The Tianmen Mountain gondola is a 15 min walk away. Amazingly high mountains, cliff walks and the hole in the rock.

Great place - warm - welcoming - very professional! Best in the area - thanks for a great stay! Many hotels in the area claim to be 4 or 5 star but never really reach the standard in reality! The Pullman does in every way! Great service - doormen - great atmosphere Has a really good swimming pool outdoor but unfortunately it is closed from November for the winter season but never mind. The hotel does have a leisure centre too but we didn’t try it. A great stay and reasonably priced!

We traveled in April as part of a 4 city visit to China. Highly recommend the Pullman as a very comfortable stay but the advice and help of Vladimir at the front desk really stood out. We had actually heard about him from fellow travelers while in Xi'an before we arrived. He advised us on where/when/how options to see the park, how to catch cheaper transportation (which bus numbers, location), dining options in town, and options when rain and fog changed our plans for the last day. He took the time to explain the map (it's in the room drawer). I'll take great service any day over an opulent lobby or snooty front desk agents.
