Have just returned from a wonderful 7 night stay at the Seevilla Freiberg over Christmas. Its hard to believe this is the same hotel that has received such variable reviews in the past - we give it an unreserved 5 stars in all areas! We arrived late due to delayed flights and slow transfers but received a warm welcome from the lovely Natalia at the reception desk; since we had missed dinner she brought a delicious cold platter supper to our room which coupled with beers from the bar was just perfect. Our room with balcony was also perfect, with the bed facing the lake and its stunning views; all was as one would expect from a 4 star boutique style hotel including our own coffee machine (milk available from the bar - no trouble at all). The staff couldn't have been more helpful in all areas; the meals were excellent - we had the half board option which included a delicious gala dinner on Christmas Eve, preceded first by Gluhwein and roasted chestnuts outside by the lake, then later (once everyone had changed from their outdoor clothing) by champagne and carol singing accompanied by live traditional Austrian music, a nice touch. Breakfasts were buffet style with a wide choice of hot and cold options, setting you up well for a day of skiing or walking. The manager was constantly overseeing her staff, and clearly had very high expectations for their performance; she regularly checked that guests were enjoying their stay, and was quick to spot anything that was not right. Apart from Austrian, the waiting staff spoke sufficient English to manage guests' requirements, and this seemed to be the main alternative language spoken although we were pleased to be in a minority - only two other couples were actually English. It is a short walk into the town along the picturesque esplanade by the lakeside; we were walking rather than skiing so this was good for us, and there was also a hotel shuttle bus which took guests to the central ski lift several times each day. It would have been good if the shuttle had gone to the higher ski lift as well, but there were plenty of buses available for this. If we had to find a negative comment to make we would need to think hard - the most we could say is that the housekeeping service knocked on the door too early each morning - admittedly if we had been skiing maybe we would have been out of our room by 8am, but since we weren't, the knock each day was a little intrusive! The girls were however excellent at their job and the room was always well presented when they had finished their work. We would certainly stay at the Seevilla Freiberg again, and have already talked about booking another holiday in the near future. Thank you to everyone for making our Christmas really special!
We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Seevilla. We have also stayed at the Grand Hotel in Zell am See which was also fantastic but we much preferred the food and coziness of Seevilla. All rooms look onto the lake and the views are breathtaking. We stayed in a lake paradise superior room, which isn’t the largest of rooms but was fine for us. Food was lovely and also staff were very friendly and helpful. We have just booked to return again in March 2018!
The location is great on the lake The Room was large from the bed we can see the lake it's balcony is excellent The receptionist is not open 24/7 so you have to consider the check-in time Amazing view to the lake and mountain especially sunrise and sunset the coffee there with that view is like a dream.
The location is excellent. The view is directly on the lake and amazing. Parking is free but not always available. However,It is hard to find any other positive things! The staff are so inexperienced! First, the reception was so tough and screaming in the beginning because we asked for extra sofa bed on arrival not before. Then They charged us for that but didn't provide one and they leave by 10pm. The double bed was broken. In the morning we told them about the problems and she simply respond "I know, you have to change the room anyway"! I was so shocked about that! How can a hotel provide us a broken bed and charge anybody for extra bed although they did't provide one! The service of the restaurant is bad. I asked for tea and the waiter to ask another waiter! When I asked the other he said okay but never got me one! Once I asked one of the staff members for umbrellas and he made jokes with his friend about having umbrellas in his pocket! Although they provide it before but he was so lazy. I can't say anything but it was miserable to deal with such staff. The hotel miss the details. The furniture is old and weary. The rooms are not clean. I found some dirt from the visitors before us. If I had such a hotel in this location with this awesome view, I will take so much care to make it a piece of paradise but believe me you will hate the whole town because of the way you were treated by the staff. The food is not delicious. The spa is so small and nobody was there to help. With the high price I expected so much more. To sum this up: Location: very good. View: excellent. Parking: good. Service: poor. Staff: poor x10 Food: good. Spa: poor. Price: high considering the experience.
Firstly, not to slag the place off, the food is really great. Blue pricey for the same quality in plenty of other places here, but we did really live the perfectly cooked fillet steaks. However, we checked on Sunday if we needed to book for Monday. We were told it was no problem and to just turn up. On arriving on Monday at 7pm, we were pretty much turned away from a very empty restaurant being told they were preparing for 'all' hotel resident guests dinner and it was not possible to accomodate us. Having been assured the day before that we could arrive on spec, we stood our ground and insisted we were fed. The inexperienced staff then seemed to not be ar$ed looking after us properly. Plonking all our cutlery on the edge of the table and not placing it at each guest. Similar situation with the wine and glasses that were put all together, not put in guests setting. During what was otherwise a very enjoyable meal on the lakeside, only one couple arrived at the empty restaurant before we left around 10pm so we're still wondering where the entire hotel of guests had their meals as we were told they were too busy and fully booked to accommodate us!!!!!!! So... Food: Beautiful Location: Wonderful Staff: Lazy and inexperienced Service: You get better at McDonald's Value: Poor Experience: Shameful for a high end place, but a great chef
Nice hotel but room cleaning was not up to expectations. Coffee/milk empty on arrival and despite going to get some from reception was not replenished scone day so meant another trip to reception. Seemed like room was made up in a hurry ? That spoilt a really nice stay as reception and restaurant staff were great.
Amazing view reception ok. Nothing free in the hotel. Coffee machine capsules (2 ea.) in the room free for the first day only for remaining days you have to buy. Cappuccino not included in breakfast. Entrance of the hotel not easy to find. And parking is along way reverse.
Today is my last day in seevilla..stayed 3 days. The only good things about this hotel are : 1. location & view; as all rooms are on the lake 2. The receptionists ..friendly & helpful. Breakfast is bad..this word cant describe the breakfast of this hotel..not many options ; eggs and cornflakes ..breakfast staff are rude (dont expect them to return a smile or a greeting as they will not) ..they would charge you additional for a cappucino or any other hot drink though the breakfast charge is 18 euro per person! They are too lazy &slow to serve people, or prepare tables and plates !! The only thing that will stop me from coming back to Seevilla is the restaurant staff !!
The Pros: Lovely welcome by staff and all reception staff lovely and helpful. Bedroom was modern with a beautiful views of the lake. The linen and towels were lovely and fresh and the mini bar was great to have too. Room was very warm so had to keep the patio door open. Free shuttle bus to and from the ski lift, however the last bus is 4.30. We rented a locker and walked u and down which is about a 10 minute walk. Cons: As we were on a half board basis we had dinner included every evening. On presentation the food looked pretty good however that's where it ended. Every evening we stayed the food was just tasteless. It was with every course. The food was so poor we ate out 3 other nights. The staff were also hit and miss. The girls were lovely and one waiter was pleasant however there were two other waiters that were quite abrupt and dismissive. Location: Although it was close enough, it was still at the edge of town. If I were to return, the Grand Hotel or hotels in the centre would be my first choice. The train noises are also quite loud if you are light sleeper. The hotel was also very quiet and lacked any atmosphere but that is obviously just a personal observation. The sauna/steam rooms didn't appear to be open as there was a maintenance man cleaning the plunge bath and there was no staff to guide guests in what could be used. I booked massage and the masseuse was amazing, just what a tired and aching body required. If the food and some staff were more pleasant it would get a 5 star rating.
We stayed at the Freiburg hotel back in march for a family ski trip. We were really impressed with the hotel, it was modern, clean and very comfortable. It's situated on the banks of the lake with stunning views so definitely try to get a room overlooking the lake! The room layout is modern and may not be to everyone's taste, but we liked waking up, opening the curtains and looking out at the view. All of the staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We stayed half board, which we recommend, because the food was tasty and the menu had good variation. The only reason we have given it 4 stars is because the hotel is a little bit out of the way and a 10 minute walk from the centre of Zell am See. However, a shuttle bus is available and the walk itself is picturesque. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely visit again!
