Stayed there for two nights, it was a good place to stay for visiting the Temples 9although requires some driving). Hotel very much up to European standards, nice swimming pool and very good food. Location is good but first impression might be unsafe (at night) which turned out to be Ok at the end.
Easy convenient to supermarket and within walking distance to Malioboro street. Hotel room is huge with balcony. Just that our room was facing the street and there were noises from the motorcyclists. One more disturbing was the mosque wake up call at 4.30am was very loud. Overall the hotel staffs were polite and nice.
Stayed at Deluxe Room on 4th floor during 2017 Iedul Fitri holiday (June 28th-July 1st 2017) with my extended family. The room was recently renovated so it feels new and clean. It was also spacious (42m square) and well lighted. Overlooking the pool, the room has a mini fridge + mini bar, flat-screen TV mounted on the wall, king-size bed (but feels even bigger), bathtub with separate shower stall (raindrop & regular shower head), free wifi, and complementary of two small/330ml aqua bottles/day. The bed & bedding was comfortable, but I wish the hotel provided comforter instead of just blanket so it's more comfortable. The room smells clean (we ask for non-smoking room) and the AC works fine. But I don't think the bathroom has enough ventilation to allow for fresh air. I like the phone, it's showing the hotel's heritage (manufactured by Nortel - don't even know if the company still exists). And for the rate we got (it's around IDR 1 mio/night nett), I think the hotel offers best value. The hotel has a lagoon-style swimming pool with water slide. The water is cold though. I also saw a pool table close to the pool. Location-wise, the hotel is great. Quite close to Malioboro (within 5-10 minutes walking distance) and located right in the central of Yogya. There's a supermarket next to the hotel. But during our stay, parking space could be hard to find, plus when you drive in there's no parking ticket (the security hands over a parking card instead), so I'm a bit concern about car security. Service-wise, hotel staffs were excellent. From the security, concierge, front desk, waiters, bell boy, every staff we met was helpful, attentive and polite with a touch of Javanese-style hospitality. Even during breakfast (the first two days we stayed there, it was so crowded there's even a waiting line to get to the restaurant), the waiters kept their cool and provided excellent service. One waitress (I forgot to ask her name), upon seeing that I haven't had a cup of coffee, even offered me whether I'd like an espresso/capucinno/americano, an offer I simply couldn't refuse & that made my day. To sum up, what I like best: - Excellent location in the heart of Yogyakarta - Hotel & room is recently renovated so it's well lit & clean (was told that before the renovation it's quite dark) - Excellent service by the staffs - Breakfast offers plenty to choose from & good food quality - For the rate we got, the hotel offers excellent value What I liked the least (it's minor stuff): - Thin blanket (a comforter would be even better) - Ventilation in the bathroom (a fan would be better) - Parking management can be modernized to offer better security Overall I'd highly recommend this hotel to families.
I stayed at The Executive Level Room 615 and it was fantastic. I loved the room, very clean, very spacious, comfortable bed, lovely view at the balcony, welcome drinks with macarons and strawberry dip choc was my favourite. Their TV channels are good, lots to choose and very clear. Bathroom was the best! Breakfast buffet spread was superb. From western to locals, all in. The restaurant is facing the pool and it is so refreshing. I also have experienced their Yhi Wellness Spa and I truly recommend the Javanese massage and also the Luxury Face Therapy. I had a really good night sleep after the massage and therapy. The hotel is near to lots of souvenir shops such as batik, good quality t-shirt, silver shop and mostly the pasar (market) where you can bargain and yet the quality is as good as outside. I have no complaints at all and I very much recommend this hotel to everyone.
Nice and comfortable hotel with a good swimming pool and gym. Nice breakfast. Near to malioboro. We enjoy to stay in this hotel. The minus when we stay, there are some renovation especially in the swimming pool area that the smell of paint is no good.
Stayed here two nights while visiting Yogyakarta. Unlike the bigger cities in Java, Yogyakarta has only a limited selection of higher end hotels, and this is the only one in the very center of Yogyakarta, only a couple of minutes from the Malioboro street, and a bit longer walk from the Kraton (Keraton). This is a large modern hotel, and it has been largely renovated recently. The room was nice, not very large but sufficient, with nice furniture, bathroom, TV, and everything you would expect from a 4 start hotel (I am calling it 4 star, according to how hotels are rated in the US. This is a top end hotel, and I would not call it 5 star only because the hotel is not *exorbitantly* expensive and fancy.) We dined in both of the two restaurants on the ground floor, one serving good Chinese food, and the other a selection of Indonesian and international fare. In the second one, I (exceptionally) ordered a sirloin steak, which was quite good (6 or 7 out of 10 on my international scale). Ordering Indonesian food would have been probably a bit safer. The buffet breakfast in this same restaurant was very good, but was a bit limited w.r.t. non-Asian food: I was missing e.g. yoghurt, a wider selection of cereals (e.g. müsli which I usually have), cold cuts. However, probably about 80 to 90 per cent of the guests are Indonesian, so I find the current selection of breakfast dishes very reasonable. The hotel has a nice pool area in the courtyard garden, including a childrens' pool with a water slide. Water depth there is about 40 to 50 cm, which makes it also suitable for smaller children who cannot swim. The hotel has free WiFi, which worked well. Ordered food from the room service (room service menu is a subset of the menus of the two downstairs restaurants.) Would definitely stay here again. Options would be: staying in a less expensive hotel in the center (not necessary, unless on a tighter budget), or staying in one or two similar expensive hotels outside the center, possibly in a more green and quiet area (which reminds me that there are mosques on both sides of the hotel, right next to it, calling for prayer on loud loudspeakers at 5am.)
I booked 2 rooms with connecting door in 28-30 june 2016. Melia was pleasant and comfortable hotel with spacious room and suitable for family vacation. The hotel has strategic location in the city center and near to Malioborro (2 min walking distance), Keraton, Beringharjo Market and Benteng Vrederburgh. Many varians breakfast (indonesian, japanese, espanol, western) with a good taste. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The swimming pool was quite spacious and clean. I recommend this hotel for you who want to vacation in Jogja
To start with this is a hotel for locals and not for foreign tourist. We booked 4 nights during Lebaran (eidul fitri), first night was ok and as of the second night it was horrible. No service as they seemed to be in panic. Breakfast was a disaster since they seem to have no capacity in the restaurant when the hotel is fully booked. Staff are friendly but not helpful at all. We skipped the breakfast for 2 days although it was included in our room rate due to the chaos. There's a ling line but on top you need to put yourself in a waiting list first!!! Bathroom towels smell like food and humidity because they wash them (maybe) with kitchen wash. Bed sheets and pillows don't smell fresh. All the windows in the entire hotels have hands marks. Screaming children in the swimming pool wake you up at 06:30 in the morning. Room service knock at the door at 7 am to clean. We had to put the sign of do not disturb every night. We don't recommend this hotel at all. No value for money.
One night say in this hotel make a lot experiences. The classic design hotel in Yogyakarta. Stay with friend after the seminar of social media. Big Meeting room for corporation or business. Recomended for you if you in Yogyakarta.
Waiting for room check-in, because room were still prepared. We check in on 6pm. Waiting to breakfast. Some guest are unhappy with this. I will think twice to stay here during peak season. Hopefully, they improve for the future.
