We really enjoyed our 6 night stay at Alamanda. The staff were so friendly and looked after us well. Nothing was ever a bother and they really made our trip special. The included breakfasts were yummy with fruit, toast, cereal, yoghurt, juice, tea/coffee and the choice of cooked options prepared for you (eggs, pancakes, omelettes etc.). I'm gluten-free and had no problems with food options. The 3 course dinners were great and so cheap!! The cooks made great cheese toasties and fries whenever our teenagers were craving 'western' snacks also. Grab also deliver to Alamanda if you're wanting something delivered to eat. We did tours with Alamanda and their guides were knowledgeable and the vans were modern and clean. We had booked some tours booked with other companies before we left home but we won't next time. Alamanda tours were much less expensive (much!), more flexible with days (avoiding bad weather) and really great! Our teenagers loved the pool and the electric scooters. The countryside around the villas is great to see. The location is a little away from the bustling inner city but Alamanda has drivers to take you there any time (a 10 minute drive and very cheap). You could also order a grab. It was always nice to get back to Alamanda and away from the noise and car fumes in the city. The included stocked drink fridge (soft drinks) and daily laundry service was very generous and appreciated. We loved our stay!

Lovely trip

We really enjoyed our stay at Alamanda villas, service was great and very welcoming. Thank you to Dian for looking after us so well during our trips. The room was lovely and comfortable. The villa is a bit out of the way which means you need to ask for a lift into town to go to the shops etc there is always someone available to help but may feel a bit restrictive if you like to wander off on your own. Everyone was lovely. Thank you Dawn

Very nice oasis of nature inside the city. Seemed suckeded and was very peaceful but just blocks from the major road. It was a great escape. The owner was on staff and saying he was helpful and kind would be an understatement. The staff truely bends over backwards to make sure you have a relaxing good time. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended it an extra 3 days without a problem. This heaven is worth so much more then it’s cost...truely unforgettable.

Everything you could possibly need

Despite being slightly out of town, Alamanda truly takes care of all your needs. From 24 hour driver on site, restaurant 200m down the road and free laundry (if you book directly with them), you honestly don’t need to worry about anything. The team is extremely friendly and helpful and the environment relaxing.

Quiet place out from hassle of city jam. Comfort with good service. Last day before leaving its the boss of Alamanda prepared breakfast for us even its too early because of our early flight. Amazing staff. Frans is great and so is his team. One of the most accommodating places ive ever stayed at. They will organize and handle all of your touring of the surrounding area if you want (all at a great price). HIGHLY recommended you also eat at his restaurant (within walking distance).

Great stay but never again

Great setting, good view and somewhat rustic. The owner, Frans however is a modern day Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He can be so accommodating and welcoming but then become unreasonable, loud and very rude and aggressive when he loses it even if it's his mistake. He forgot to send the driver to pick me up from the market and didn't respond to any messages so I had to get a cab. When I mentioned it on my return I was shouted at; taunted about my nationality; bodily directly by him and asked to leave the hotel immediately! This treatment of guests seems to be a regular occurrence which I had witnessed on previous days. They run a restaurant too, a stone's throw away with a limited menu but good food. Friendly and obliging staff which unfortunately do not make up for Frans' repugnant character. Thumbs down people. I've stayed in lots of hotels, from 1 to 5 stars, but never come come across someone like this. Travellers, please rethink your decision if you are considering this hotel.

When you stay at this property, you are getting a whole crew of people who will organize your trip (for a price). If you prefer to do things on your own, it might not be a good fit. The setting is very peaceful, but lots of bugs!

A lovely villa with an even better staff.

This is a great villa with wonderful staff. They really take care of you and offer affordable trips throughout the region. They have free airport pickup and dropoff, breakfast and lunch included, and a great dining option for dinner nearby. All of the tour guides are very knowledgeable, friendly, and speak fluent English. The owner, Franz, is a sweet soul, and personally helped me out with many things, including trying to get my camera fixed by taking it to the shop and buy me super glue. He send me home with some really nice hibiscus tea, and provided me with the most amazing tours you could ask for. A truly fantastic experience with him and his helpful staff. The area is close to the city but feels remote with its own gardens and ricefields. I really loved it here. Great ambiance! As good as it gets.

A perfect place to stay

A perfect start to our Indonesian holiday. The proprietor, Frans, was extremely helpful and knowledgable, the staff great, the hospitality and accommodation amazing. Close to the city but rural and unique. A wide range of local tours are run at very good prices and any shuttling around to different restaurants or locations is accommodated. Very highly recommended.

Peace and tranquility..utterly outstanding

Stunning and relaxing property set amongst the backdrop of paddy fields away from the hustle and bustle. Sit in your veranda and relax watching the fish bob in the large pond or see the fireflies dance over the paddy fields at night. Frans, Mohammed and the rest of the team make you feel like welcomed friends and do their utmost to make rite stay special. The place itself is stunning, authentic and peaceful and what you crave from Asia and from a visit to this party liar region. The guys did their utmost to make my stay special, interesting and engaging and organised all my trips. I would recommend Prambanan at sunset and Borobudur at sunrise. We drove past other places/ hotels on our trip and I felt very smug that I had chosen the best! Enjoy dining at Rosella too...scrumptious! A beautiful place that I would highly recommend!

Highly recommended

The service at Alamanda was well above excellent. Everything was great form the moment we were picked up at the airport till we were dropped of at the airport 3 days later. Tours were easily arranged and flexible. People at the hotel are local and understand and know the small out of the way places that big tours miss. Prices were very very reasonable. The small hotel has a feeling that they are not after big profits and taking advantage of tourist, it feels like they want their guest to have a good time and really understand the local culture.
