This delightful first floor, studio holiday apartment is located above the garage adjacent to the friendly owner’s house. It boasts a lovely decked patio area to the rear and a bright, light interior. It is ideally suited for couples of all ages for holidays and short breaks throughout the year.

Conveniently located just off the A386 midway between Tavistock and Yelverton on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park (to which there is direct access from the back gate), this property is a fantastic base for those who enjoy walking or cycling. The Drakes Trail, a 21-mile path linking Tavistock to Plymouth, is right on the doorstep. Visit the impressive Gem Bridge spanning the wooded valley and Grenofen Tunnel, taking you through beautiful woodlands and open moorland. Shop and restaurant 2 miles, pub 1 mile.

I stayed at Magpie’s Rest for a week late November.

I stayed at Magpie’s Rest for a week late November. I found the location for Dartmoor absolutely spot on as you can drive to Princetown or Two Bridges within About ten minutes. For shops you can drive to Yelveton within a couple of minutes or to Tavistock within about 10 minutes. The property is self contained and above the owners garage and has stairs to the rear to access the property. The property has one living area and a separate bathroom. The main living area is modern and very well kept and I found it to be clean and fresh. The bathroom, again, was modern and very clean with a good shower that provided piping hot water within about 2 seconds. The property also appeared to have real central heating which worked at any time of the day or night. I only say this because I’ve stayed at several properties where they have had Economy 7 heating or immersion heating where it gets cold by about 6pm. Overall I found this property to be excellent value and adequate for a couple and would most certainly stay again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

The Magpie's Rest was absolutely perfect for me to stay for a nice long weekend with my little dog.

The Magpie's Rest was absolutely perfect for me to stay for a nice long weekend with my little dog. There is a little outside area that you can close off to make it safe so the dog can be in or out whilst the door is open in nice weather. Nick was extremely helpful and on hand to help in case of any questions. The cottage is finished to a very high standard. Really comfortable, very relaxing and beautifully clean. The main road is quite busy, but nothing much can be done about that of course. The cottage is located as far back from the road as the land allows and personally I didn't notice the traffic anymore after a few hours.
