The corner beach front upgrade room was once a great room but was not maintained well. The bathroom had rust on the tub, broken shower floor ties, and the toilet was loose from the floor. The rest of the room was fine but the furniture was well used. Still the food and the location were excellent. Service was also excellent during my stay. Overall an average score.
Very very unkind. Especially, the yellow hair with perm single-headed woman and tall glasses man at the check-in counter. The structure is bad that it is very difficult to get on the elevator at the end room. The room was like a sauna. Air conditioner is not working. Go to the Hilton Yantai Golden Coast Hotel! It has much better facilities and friendly staff. The ocean view from the room is also very good. SPG 플래티늄멤버인데 이런 호텔직원들은처음봄 혐한인가싶을정도임 인사도안하고 예약확인도잘안해주고 친절이라곤눈꼽만큼도없었음 정말최악. 옆에힐튼으로가세요 친절하고 시설도훨좋아요
Check in and out was fast. Breakfast was good but crowded! The beach is clean and i enjoyed my stay here! Big room and friendly staff. Also, if you have time visit penglai! It is also very good beach and i think it is better than yantai. Overall, i will recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely be back if given the chance.
We are finishing our stay of almost 3 weeks here and have had a wonderful stay! This is our first time in Yantai and it took a few days for me to get used to be on the beach instead of a downtown location. I previously stayed at SPG properties in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai and was used to walking everywhere but once I adapted and took advantage of the cheap and plentiful cabs I did plenty of exploring. There are very few restaurants within walking distance other than the hotel restaurants, but the area is being developed so I hope more show up eventually. The Club team with Kelly, Crys, Eileen, Nancy, Momo and Tracy are extremely helpful and friendly. I tended to go to the club for advice and assistance instead of the front desk due to per convenience and knowing the team. They spent over an hour helping me secure our seats on an airline, and did it with a smile. If we didn’t have the kitchen we would have been in the club daily. The food offerings are average for an international club but the desserts are a nice touch and there is always a nice variety . We booked the spa massage service for a couple’s massage the first weekend to recover from jet lag, and then I did it again for a foot and leg massage. Both times were excellent … Cherry and other staff members were helpful in booking the services we wanted. That majority of the team has limited English but it was easy to book and we were easily able to understand each other. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and very fresh. It was included in our rate and I appreciated that they allowed me to get “take a way” so we could eat breakfast in the room as my husband was working. Wonderful fresh french baguettes, noodle station, omelet station, cold cuts and cheese had a great selection as well. We were always greeted with a smile. A staff member who truly made our stay special was our housekeeper Bruce. Bruce went above and beyond every day he worked (which was all the time!) . He made note of what we used the most off (bath salts, tea, etc) and made sure to stock it accordingly. He always greeted me with a BIG smile and a “hello!”, and made us feel like VIPs with his friendly and professional manner. As a former Director of Operations in the hotel industry I would have been lucky to have a member like Bruce on my team. Seeing his smile greet me throughout the day made my day better. We booked the 2-story ocean view suite, I understand only 1 or 2 of the suites have a kitchenette and it was ideal for a 3 week stay. It offered burners, microwave, full and mini refrigerator, coffee maker and rice steamer along with full kitchen pots, pans and eating utensils. Any time I had questions a Guest Service Member assisted me in how to use the appliances. Next time when we return we hope to book the villa which is a two-bedroom suite which offers a balcony and porch area. Because of a few special dietary requirements and loving to cook, we rarely used the club but appreciated it being there for a glass of wine, desserts and lots of advice and help from the Club team. The relaxation on the beach and long walks is wonderful. Getting to wake up every morning to the view of the ocean waves is a perfect way to start the day. About 4km from the hotel are some stunning statues of whales (see pictures). I took that walk multiple times just to see those gorgeous and enormous sculptures There is a convenience store (similar to a 7-11) and wine store across the street, but the shopping area and supermarket are under construction. There is a local grocery about 2 km walk near the Hilton. Many people want to go to the Joy Mall for shopping but I enjoyed the Wanda Mall so much more. It is a short taxi drive of 10 minutes (15-20 rmb) and has the best grocery store around with some western food options, organic vegetables and a great wine and beer selection. In the back of the grocery are several meal counters with a hot pot / conveyer belt along with noodles and the usual street fare. Bonus here you can buy rice , flour , etc in bulk so you don’t need to buy a huge bag – just what you need. All in all – yes like previous reviews noted, this Sheraton needs some repairs and maintenance like painting and updating of furniture but it is a beautiful hotel. I also see maintenance crews busy installing new flooring in the rooms on our wing so I know it is in the works. Recommendations: • Paint – the suite we were in needed painting badly on the walls and ceiling. We asked maintenance to paint a large black spot/ patch on the ceiling due to a previous leak which they did promptly but it needs more coats and there are many marks on the walls that need re-painting. The flooring also needs to be replaced or refinished in areas • Room Service – no menu in the room so assuming it’s not an option. We only use room service when we first arrive due to jet lag but It wasn’t an option on this trip • New printer in the business center along with instructions in English on how to use it. The printer is ancient! It took a few times and a very helpful concierge but I finally figure out the trick of jiggling the tray sensor each time you print something. • Offer wine by the glass at all the restaurants when dining a’la carte. Not an option at the Japanese restaurant • Have sample restaurant menus in the rooms to look at. We were disappointed that we couldn’t partake of the hibachi option at the Japanese restaurant as they said only 2 people was to small of a group to eat at the grill. The ipad in the Chinese and All day dining restaurants is convenient to have the pictures but still a little cumbersome to go through All in all a wonderful stay and we hope to return
Very luxurious hotel, didn't stay the night, but had a room to recover from the from a ferry trip. Room was well appointed, the bathroom was complete with a bath. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in China with about everything yo could think of, except pork sausages, and appeared to cater for most nationalities and taste buds, not to be missed. I would go back just for the breakfast
A grand hotel associated with the Sheraton brand but lack of warm staff. Good hardware, nice bed and clean room. All the staff care is get your bill clear and move on with their busy work load. The hotel do have the potential to make it to the top with better management.
I checked in for a conference at this hotel at 3 PM , took forever to check in, and as always in China a copy of my passport was done , visa page and entry stamp. after a long day of travel and conference talks , I was exhausted, I was woke up at 11:15 PM by the front desk , saying they lost my passport copy and I needed to go down and have it recopied , I asked if this could be done in the morning since it was so late , the answer was NO , I needed to go down now.. Not only was I mad about being disturbed at such a late hour , but they lost my passport copy , a very important document, and something you would expect a hotel to be extra careful with ,, Also during the day the cleaning staff was very loud , yelling at each other from down the hall ..
Fun, relaxing May holiday at Golden Beach. Quiet beach front hotel just a stone throw from the sand and shells. Morning walks on the beach with the seagulls was relaxing and enlivening. Hotel staff was curtious and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and the bathtub was lovely.
Staff very kind, room big with view on sea. Air conditionated working is not so efficient. Services for calling cabs or giving advises for restaurants could be widen and could be fairer; staff is guiding to private services and internal restaurants,..of course. Restaurant offers very large choice, safe food, not always so tasty. Swimming pool could be more "welcoming" Wifi quite slow in the evening
The Hotel is a rather large hotel located directly at the Ocean which is used regularly for conventions. With Sheraton you would expect a certain standard and the expectations were fully met. The staff was very professional and friendly and everything was very smooth. Taxis are always "standing-by" in the front of the Hotel so to get anywhere was no problem. Since it was a short business-trip I did not have any time to explore much. However, I would like to complement the staff in the Lounge they were very helpful and professional. If my travels brings me back to this area, I would be certainly staying at this Resort again.
