I believe the Tripadvisor is a website where I find the generous reviews about anything related to travel that's why I just love to write here:-) Recently I had traveled to Yantai and was very frustrated as by being away from home after sometime we all remember our home or country food. I was desperately in a search of Indian food and finally due to someone's efforts I found Hotel Crowne Plaza Yantai Seaview. The hotel is fantastic with best view of some part of city, sea and its food. I'm not writing anything about rooms as I have not stayed. There is a buffet of verity food which includes Indian food as well. I met the magician I mean the chef Mr.Omparkash whom I have named as my "Ratatouille" as he surprised me by cooking the most delicious Indian food which I have had so far, especially more spicy chicken gravy for me as I wanted. Such a down to earth person he is... Now I'm back but again hungry and missing that food :-( so one who visits Yantai must visit this place too for such a lovely evening. The cost of food varies as per the weekdays.
I spent two days based at the hotel, with a marvellous sea view from the 27th floor. The room was large and had every possible amenity - even an ironing board. The lifts were a speedy dream - frequent, fast and smooth - so being high up was no disadvantage. The dinner was a buffet with every possible taste catered for, and breakfast was also great. The service was immaculate, and all in all I reckoned this was fully worth its five stars
We stay here only for one night. But we already sure that we will come back again. The room was big and absolutely clean. The stuff was very friendly and helpful. English speaking no problem. The breakfast was a huge choice of different kind of food. Definitely also western people can find many choices to eat. The view from our room in 33th floor was perfect. We even can see the beach. We are very happy to come back in summertime when it is more warm and better for swimming
The room was surprisingly huge. Modern design room with good quality bed and pillows. Location is ok and it's not too far from the beach (walking distance). Breakfast has very high quality impressive spread. Nothing much I can comment on the service as I was there for only 1 night.
Excellent hotel, with first class amenities in Yantai, just a little far away from the town. I use the hotel for business mostly, but also for leisure. The breakfasts are superb, as it the gym with a 30m swimming pool and fully equipped gym. The beach is close, as is the promonade so it is good to access for runners.
The view was really nice - it was a bit foggy but still (stayed there during winter). Relatively good spa section. I really enjoyed the breakfast, great variety of food (both Chinese and Western). My room was modern and clean - upper floor. Front desk was a little bit slow but for me it is not a deal breaker at all.
That's really a big, comfortable hotel. The rooms directing to the sea have a great view on the shore. Unfortunately some areas of the hotel need some renovation. The airconditioners in the rooms are either making funny noises or are not working at all.
I have stayed a few times now at this hotel and my latest stay was probably the best. I have never come here in September before when the weather is quite hot and the air conditioning was good and worked well. I have found coming in autumn or spring before in other months I have found the air conditioning too hot and have been unable to turn it down in the room. The Taste of Asia restaurant is really good. The buffet breakfast is alright but reasonably priced. The buffet dinner at the restaurant on the ground floor was good and hardly any more expensive than getting room service or a la carte. It is a mix of Western and Chinese food. The staff are very friendly and the location is close to the beach.
I am a frequent traveler to this hotel. The lobby is quite clean and very well staffed, however, of the 8 people at the front desk, only two spoke english. I was surprised since I would guess that 30-40% of the guests are foreign. The front desk attendants are quite friendly but its always quite chaotic, and it tends to make guests feel very anxious. The check in process after getting over the language barrier was quick. The rooms are reasonably clean and nicely decorated, but you can tell that some of the things are starting to show their age (upholstery on chairs, carpet). Most areas are clean, but if you look at detailed areas (between bed and nightstand), baseboards, behind TV etc, you'll find that the amount of dust in these areas has not been addressed in a long time. Bed linens are nice and crisp and clean, the beds offer a nice amount of firmness. No complaints for the sleep quality or temperature controls. The breakfast buffet is a large selection of western and oriental dishes, though the fried eggs were severely undercooked (egg whites still clear on top). Service at breakfast was non existent for coffee or tea, but they would remove your plates very fast at least. Overall, I'd stay here again, and I do when I go to Yantai.
Arrived at Yantai from Qingdao in a private arranged hire car for 900 RMB which in my opinion was a rip off as there was no direct high speed train connection between the two cities . Check in at the hotel was swift . Reception area was huge and after a welcome drink at the cafe on ground floor . Room size was equally large with an office desk and a bath tub with a floor to ceiling glass window . Swimming pool is on the 2nd floor and guests are required to wear head gears before allowed to swim . We did not tried the restaurant Taste of Asia on the top floor despite a good review for its Indian food . Took a taxi ride for 11 RMB to the nearest shopping complex with Aeon supermarket as its anchor tenant . The following day we hired a car for RMB 700 to take us to PengLai to look at the ancient waterfront walled fortress. We should use Didi ( similar to uber ) instead of taking the recommendation of the hire car from the hotel . Overall the hotel for a nightly rate of 685 RMB with breakfast for two is good value . Breakfast on the ground floor was excellent with a large choice and variety of Chinese and western food . If you wish to sample local hawker foods for dinner , walk out of the hotel and turn right toward the main road at the intersection traffic lights . Crossed the main road and turn right and walked about 50 metres in the entrance to a local university as well as bus depot. A variety of hot hawkers food awaited you who dared to sample the local northern fried pancakes etc .
