    Cheap and adequate hotel

    About half an hour walk to Xi'an centre. But buses stop very close and are cheap. I had the cheapest room which was on the ground floor and a bit dark and dingy. But still good value for money. Staff were very helpful, but few spoke English. But we managed and they helped get me a car to the airport, etc. Restaurant food is ok, and also good price. Food mall and supermarket just 5 mins away across the road...look for a small doorway covered by plastic strips and it unveils a whole other world inside.

    Decent hotel, in general

    The hotel is decent, but I have not found anyone at the reception desk who spoke English well enough that I could communicate with properly. The room is decent; however there is sometimes a urine smell which seems to come from the drainage or the bathroom fan when the fan is turned on. The hotel room is clean in general; but don't expect a 4 or 5 star hotel. The location is great, and it is walking distance to the mall, to various shops, and the subway. There are also a lot of outside vendors selling food and fruits.

    Good value, a bit out of central area

    Clean, good wifi, nice restaurant that will do in a pinch with good prices on local beer. It's too far to walk from the Bell Tower central area, but plenty of taxis. Very good value for the money.

    Budget hotel

    Hotel was a very simple budget hotel in an ok location for Xian. In hindsight i feel i could have done a lot better in Xian. If you are looking for a very simple budget hotel in Xian with little or no amenities its ok for an overnight stay

    Just Off Centre

    After a fight to get a room with an exterior window, the rest of my stay was fine. However, I made the booking based on it's proximity to the metro. It turns out that only a couple of the planned 100's of railway stations have actually been opened in Xi'An, and none of them was near my hotel. Luckily taxis are cheap; the city is dead flat, and within the old city walls the hotel is an easy stroll to most of the historic landmarks. At present the Airport and The Terracotta Warriors are still a long hike from the centre of this vast and booming city. As in almost every Chinese hotel I stayed at during 2 months, there was noisy 24 hour construction work next-door, so always try to get a room on the quietest side, even if it means a few flights of stairs. (most hotels are fairly empty, so they shut down whole wings and elevators etc. to conserve power)

    Very good basic hotel for budget travelers

    Basic clean room for resting and sleeping. The receptionist is very helpful despite limited English - this hotel do not take foreign credit card and you need to prepare cash for deposit.There are some construction going on around the vicinity of the hotel- it's a 20 minutes walk to Bell Tower but be warned some lanes are not pedestrian friendly and can be quite dangerous to walk ( need to be mindful of traffic coming from both sides). The hotel restaurant close by 9:30pm. No bottled water but clean sheets, clean towels, clean room - good for the price paid

    Weekend budget

    Great hotel if you like to save money, have a clean place to sleep! About 10 minute walk north to metro, 15 minute walk west to the Bell Tower. Clean, courteous, budget friendly!

    Within city area. Short walk to pedestrian street, located near Wanda Mall. Local delicacies, located in a building just slightly to the left on the opposite side of the road, before KFC. Bus stop nearby but subway needs 15 minutes walk. Then again you can stroll along the pedestrian street on the way to Wulugou subway station.

    Adequate no frills lodging.

    Jin jiang had a wide range of qualities in its hotels across China. This particular building is clean and centrally located but very basic and lacking in character. The rooms are quite small and the one in which I stayed had a window facing a cement wall. The room was adequately clean and contained all the typical toiletries and amenities for a comfortable nights stay. My only complaint about the room is a strong smell of cigarette smoke.

    Good base for solo travellers to Xi'an

    The JinJiang Inn is well located about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Xi'an, and 10 minutes from the main railway station (there are plenty of convenient buses to both). JinJiang is one of the top 3 budget business hotel chains, and provides simple, clean, functional rooms, with no frills. The bed was reasonably comfortable; wireless internet access worked well; the bathroom was clean and contained a decent shower and Western style toilet; there were tea making facilities in the room; and the breakfast, available for a small supplement, was outstanding value. I say for solo travellers as there was only one chair in the room, and couples may wish to pay for something a little more luxurious.
