This was my second stay at this hotel. Staff were incredibly obliging! One, I think she was the guest relations manager, went out of her way to ensure I was attended to at all times - popping by during breakfast, and again during the evening. And Jimmy in the Executive lounge? What a star! Customer service second to none. Absolutely outstanding, a credit to the Hotel, to Xiamen, and to China. The hotel itself is completely up to Pullman standards, with an executive floor that operates beyond that level. For that reason, and because of the staff, I will be back.
We went for a dinner buffet there. We have been to many different ones, but this one is the most fresh one. There is not much food, but variety and freshness makes it the best one! Sushi were the tastiest we have tried in Xiamen. Mainly people order a small seafood hot pot, which was also good. There are also some western food, good wine, but deserts could be better and more different kinds. Price per persone, if you are not in-house guest, is 300 yuan each.
Our family spent 4 nights at Pullman and requested pick up at the airport. The hotel sent a concierge staff to accompany the driver to make sure the pick up is trouble free. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the service were the best you can get from a up market hotel. The only minor oversight was being an Accor Plus member we did not get a room upgrade which seems happen to other previous reviewer. The surrounding of the hotel is beautiful and is good for a morning walk along the lake. There is no problem with public transport as there is a bus stop right across the hotel and the bus is not overcrowded. The key shopping mall is just 15 minutes by bus.
Great hotel. Standard of room was very good. Had access to the Executive Lounge which by comparison to other Accor Hotel Executive Lounges was rather quiet and seemed under used. I'm not sure why because I enjoyed excellent service from the staff in the Lounge especially Jimmy, Aileen, Emily and Alisa. I found all hotel staff pleasant and polite and more than willing to help where they could. I will be back in March for another business trip to Xiamen.
Very pleasant surroundings, friendly people trying to serve you, very enjoyable experience staying. As an accor member, i also enjoyed all benefits for the membership, such as upgrading room, premium lounge etc..
There is nothing much seriously wrong with this hotel. It is just a little tired. To give my comments some context, I confess that I've only stayed at 3 Pullman Hotels being this one, the Pullman Resort in Lijiang, and the Park Lane in Hong Kong. Both the Hong Kong property and the Lijiang property are far superior. This trip, I had stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Hong Kong and the Sofitel in Guangzhou. Those are superior properties. Therefore, in comparison, this hotel fell short of the higher standards set by those other properties. The paths outside the hotel are currently potholed but this is not necessarily the hotel's fault as Xiamen is installing a subway and there are digging works everywhere. The municipal workers are also busy repairing damage caused by what had been one of the worst typhoon to hit Xiamen in September 2016. However, the neon lighted name of the hotel on top of the building is missing a few functioning neon tubes. It all lent the property a somewhat shabby feel. The room I was in directly faced the setting sun, nothing intrinsically wrong with this but despite being winter, the room was far too hot in late afternoons and the air conditioning unit was not coping in cooling it down. Despite being winter in Xiamen, sleeping with any blankets on would have been too hot. The fittings and fixtures require some work to bring it up to a 5 star standard. The staff are the hotel's greatest assets. They were consistently helpful, obliging and professional. As the hotel appears to cater mainly for a domestic Chinese clientele, the lack of English proficiency among the staff is not an issue, except if you are an English speaker who can't speak Chinese and had incorrectly assumed that booking an international chain hotel would ensure greater ease of communication in English. Despite a lack of English proficiency, they will try their best to assist and non-Chinese speakers must remember that one is in China after all and perhaps, the issue is ours, not theirs. The hotel is opposite a large lake surrounded by landscaped gardens. It is not in the middle of the business district, although being a relatively small island, nothing is that far away. Taxis are relatively cheap and metered. The friendly hotel staff will assist guests in booking taxis and the Chinese equivalent of Uber, if there are no taxis already waiting outside.
Pleasant surroundings, island within an island, surrounded by very nice park and in the middle of a lake. 45 min boat tours available at 80 rmb. Not a lot of restaurants nearby. Taxi hard to come by but staff is very helpful arranging taxi for us
Visited this holiday during last spring festival and really enjoyed it. The staff was great and very helpful. A well furnished gym and great trainer at the swimming pool. The buffet was also good however poor happy hour... I wasn't going there for work! I wanted fun and relaxation. Rooms are pretty clean and on for me. The location is great... If you're going to rest then this is a great choice! Very calm place
Hotel is located on het Island in the river, which is more like a park, away from the business of the real city itself, that is a plus. the building is still in a good condition and the rooms (I stayed in 2 different ones) as well. rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. The wifi is for free and you can also connect through cable (which was faster). Hotel shuttle to and from the airport is available at reasonable prices. Friendly staff who try to help out in almost everything. Pitty that their english (at least for most of the employees) is below standard which makes it sometimes complicated to get wat you want. All in all I enjoyed the stay here and would return when again in Xiamen.
I have a very bad surprise for the executive lounge of this hotel, member of Accor group. Customer of Accor since long time, and I nerver see an happy hour offer so poor, almost nothing to take, the attitude of servers is also very cold. I can not find the sprit Accor in this Hotel. The room also is smaller than other Pullman and Sofitel, I think I will not come back again! The seaview resort is much better a little more expensive, but the food, service and welcoming is much better
