The hotel is clean, the staff is nice and accessible, they have a restaurant and a place to “chill” in the lobby. The room was really clean and they provided bottles of water. In my experience the bed linens smelled like humidity( but I think it was just in my room). The water from the shower was either extremely hot or cold, I found it difficult to get a warm spot because the water temperature fluctuated with time. Breakfast and dinner were good( they have a restaurant). The phone from the room didn’t make calls to the lobby.
It's not the Hyatt, but it's very ok. It's clean, the staff is very kind. For us was in the price range of a ONE hotel, but was a nicer option, with more charm. The bathroom is not the nicest spot in the hotel, but still ok. The bed was big and comfy. The location is very good. We arrived late, but about 70m from the Hotel there's a very good tacos place "El Asadero" which was open till late. If you need to have breakfast early, maybe it's a good idea to tell in the front desk ahead, since at 7:20 am there's was no one there.
I had stayed at this hotel on a previous occasion and was reminded of its great quality and comfort. The serving staff is especially friendly. The terrace restaurant is a one of a kind setting, perfect for those long meals and after dinner talks. I particularly like the living room/bar. It feels much more like being in someones' palacial home, than staying at a hotel. The room was very comfortable, if a bit small for my preference. I did enjoy my private balcony quite a bit. I would stay there again many times. It's a lovely hotel.
The outside seems a little bit old, but the inside is great. The lift was broken, so I had to walk up the stairs. Staff is very friendly, they resolved all my questions. I did not have breakfast at the hotel. The AC worked really well. It is just 10 minutes walk from main sightseeing places.
I don't think I have ever been in a hotel with so many friendly and helpful people, and I don't think I will stay at another hotel in Xalapa. Elegant but not at all pretentious, this is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The room was economical and spacious, clean, and well appointed. The water was hot, there were extra blankets to ward off the slight winter chill, the room was quiet and peaceful, breakfast was quite good and the chef was in no hurry while we dwaddled over the menu. This hotel is conveniently located and we easily walked to the historic center of town. It seemed as if just about everyone there spoke English, which is pretty unusual. At one point we were in the lobby and a chambermaid asked me (in Spanish) if I spoked Spanish. I replied in Spanish, "No, I don't speak a word of Spanish. Do you speak English?" She smiled and replied in my native language, "No, I don't speak any English at all." She had lived in Wisconsin for ten years, and I would imagine winter in Xalapa felt pretty comfortable after that experience. As we returned home (only 90 minutes away but it seems like a different country) we started planning our next trip to Xalapa which centered around our newly discovered hotel and a wonderful restaurant we found. But that's another review I look forward to writing.
I really liked the theme of the hotel, which is all about "Love". We stayed there for 3 nights. It's not the cheapest option but it is worth it. Our room was clean, really well kept, nicely decorated, and very quiet at night. The ambience is super romantic and the furniture is relatively new. The air conditioner and TV are relatively new as well. The breakfast is good and it is included if you don't reserve your room through hotelmex.com. The staff is extremely nice and willing to help. The location is great. Two blocks away from the Cathedral. Wi-fi in our room worked just fine ( Cons: Most expensive small cuppa tea I ever had. (Around USD 5) There was some construction work going on and it was a bit noisy during the early afternoon.
Friendly and helpful staff, very good full breakfast, good location, quiet clean and well appointed rooms, free and secure parking, and very reasonable rates. We rented 5 rooms with family and friends for the New Year holiday and all had a good experience.
The Clara Luna is on a quiet street yet very close & within walking distance to the zocalo and downtown area. This hotel doesn't look like much from the street outside, but inside it is very clean and modern. My wife and I and our 4 month old stayed one night in a room with two double beds. The hotel provided a Graco crib for the baby. I like that the hotel has free underground parking (though it was tight and a bit crowded when we left the next day). The carpet in the room looked brand new and I like the modern décor touches throughout the hotel. There is a little library and reading area in the lobby and a nice restaurant with lots of options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It was nearly 80 degrees when we arrived in mid December and our room was quite warm. The room has a remote controlled Samsung air conditioner, which is nice so you can turn the air on and not have to get back up out of bed to turn it off. It worked well and cooled the room in a short time. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. I don't recall hearing any noise from the outside or from any rooms near us. I would love to stay again and spend more time at the hotel and in the area!
We stayed 5 nights in a king room. It was late November, rainy, with daytime temps in the 50s and low 60s. The lobby and breakfast room are adjacent to a patio that is open to the outdoors. Both were very cold. We wore our coats to breakfast. Our room was a little warmer but what we thought was a heater was actually only an air-conditioner. When we finally asked, we were given a space heater, so the last 2 nights were better. There was hot water in the morning only, not afternoon or evening. Apart from the cold problem, the hotel was comfortable enough. The room was spacious. The staff was very accommodating and nice, and a few of them spoke English. Hot breakfast was very good. The location is on a busy street, but the rooms are quiet. It's a few blocks from the old part of town, which is where you will spend most of your time. Be sure to visit the superb anthropology museum. Next time we will stay at Posada del Cafeto, in the old part of town. We checked it out while we were there and it looked beautiful, with traditional Mexican decor and a peaceful courtyard. Don't know about the heat or hot water situation there though.
we were part of a group of 18 museum guides from the national hispanic cultural center and found this to be one of the outstanding hotels we've stayed at in mexico...very clean, modern and had a bit of the california sleek in its layout and presentation. the husband of the owner does much of the art work and rooms are named for Lara songs because the owner and her father knew him in vera cruz. location across from a beautiful park was ideal and easy walking to the central plaza...recommend the restaurant hidden in the little shopping mall next to the sunken park, sometime listed as the botanical gardens on the maps...Estancia de tecolote [sic]. a walking town but ask the owners for recommendations.
