"This property is a one of a kind. It reflects a lot of history of the expansion of the railroads out west in the 1930s. The architect is famous for building these hotel stops. The hotel was renovated and is beautiful with original southwestern flare. The bar and Turquoise Room are expensive but cozy and authentic to the period built. There are few restaurants in the area. The millionaire who renovated the hotel is an artist and her art is prevalent throughout the common areas in the hotel. The art is very dark in its nature as most of it portrays suicides and murders! The art conflicts with the warm inviting nature of the hotel as was originally intended by the architect and Santa Fe railroad. If this type of art bothers you, you may wish to ignore and not read the art descriptions. The art is everywhere except it is not in the guest rooms. "
