Great location and value, ideal for couples and small families. Lovely cottage with easy access to the lake.
This cottage has a peaceful setting amongst other connection cottages surrounded by trees, in a clearing where sun sets outside your place and has a stunning small view of the lake. We even saw some small roe deer. 10 min walk to the jetty and a refreshing dip in the lake.
The location is a 15 min walk up to Windermere or 25 min to Bownes. Buses can take you everywhere to explore the beauty of this part of the Lake District. We shall return!

We enjoyed the quiet location with a view of the lake.
We enjoyed the quiet location with a view of the lake. We thought although the cottage was mainly clean, we had one little issue as the kitchen area, utensils, cooker etc could have been cleaner as one of the party has coeliac disease, so we needed to ensure that everything being prepared was highly cleaned (to avoid cross contamination).
We enjoyed the walk into the towns and the nearby walks, especially down to the lake side. We would recommend this to someone wishing to use this as a base in a quiet location. We had a lovely week. Thank you.
What a find ?? Clean , charming and cosy . Fantastic views from the breakfast table - we have returned home , reluctantly and I miss the view already .
Gone sailing has everything you need and more for a great holiday on the Lakes . Great location too . If only the weather was as lovely but never mind - we will be back - Thankyou for letting us stay 😀

Gone Sailing is the ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
Gone Sailing is the ideal base for exploring the Lake District. If you don't want to make a meal yourself, both Windermere and Bowness have a great selection of restaurants.
The outlook from the cottage is wonderful, in good weather we could have sat there all day!
The cottage is equipped with ample radiators that make even the coldest, wettest evenings cosy.

This was my third visit to Gone Sailing in a year - so it obviously has appeal.
This was my third visit to Gone Sailing in a year - so it obviously has appeal. A peaceful and relaxing location with great views down to Windermere I would have given it full marks throughout, but for the fact that it doesn't have an ice box, after all a G&T isn't the same without some ice. That being said, however, I'm sure that I will be back; ice or no ice!
