Dining shopping not too far, but not walkable.
The amount we paid was more than double the advertised price, yet we were still asked to perform a laundry list of cleaning tasks before exiting the unit (vacuuming, folding blankets, emptying and taking out gargage, etc.). I realize there is likely a management fee, but most VRBO properties do not require anything more than making sure doors and windows are secure, sink is clear, thermostats set at certain temps, etc.
The property is also in need of a bit of a facelift. One could argue that this is part of its charm, but it looks like all of the furniture was out of the 1970s.

Nice Location; Cabin Needs Cleaning and Updating
The physical location in Chimney Hill is great. The actual cabin is very dirty and out-dated. For example, there were spices and food items still in the kitchen which expired back in the 1980s. Old carpet lined the entire house with a pungent smell. This location has lots of potential as long as it is thoroughly cleaned and updated.

Lovely location with a caveat
My stay with a friend at this location was extremely pleasant overall; the home was well furnished, stocked, and the surroundings of rural Vermont were beyond gorgeous. The interior was very well cleaned when I arrived, though my friend and I very quickly noticed that there was a distinct septic-like odor in the house's central hallway area and the home's exterior (walking up to the entryway, etc). This smell persisted throughout the duration of the stay, but was most noticeable on days where the weather was wet/rainy. It is worth noting that my stay was during the late summer months following a significant rainstorm, so it is possible this issue was caused by the poor weather preceding my visit. Regardless, the unpleasant smell was an unfortunate dampener on an otherwise lovely visit. If there is some clarification from the host on a resolution to this issue, or a warning about its potential cause, I would heartily recommend this quaint Vermont getaway to anyone looking for a relaxing (and hopefully smell-free!) stay away from home.
