Fabulous experience at the Sheraton hotel. Food was delicious and the location of hotel is spot on. Great vibe and will definitely return. The rooms where spacious and tastefully decorated. A must to stay if u are visting Athlone. Tara and Paul.
This hotel is centrally located in Athlone, a few minutes’ walk from the train/bus station and located beside the main shopping centre.. The room has excellent Wi-Fi along with a network cable. The view from tower over the town is amazing. Despite out reservations below, we would revisit this Hotel. These are: Customer Service We asked for a late checkout at check in, the employee said he would contact us later in the day, He never did. We had to arrange this with another employee later in the evening. There is a need for an express checkout/drop box for the key cards. Considering we had paid in advance, had given our credit card details for any spends we may have had (although our minibar was empty) it seemed a very long and stuffy wait in a long queue before we could leave.. At checkout, we were not ask how our stay was. Room Bedding and room felt a bit damp on arrival and there were significant amounts of pooled water on the window sills from condensation in the evening and morning, that spread into the carpet in places. Pedal bin in bathroom did not work. Loose electrical socket beside bed. Only four hangers for two people. Dusty take way cups left for our use Bell Ringer We visited the main bar for a drink in the early evening. The hotel was hosting a wedding and although a tradition to ring a bell to ask wedding guests to move to the dining room the loudness of the hand bell and frequency of ringing it left us both with a pounding headache and we could not wait to leave. I would suggest this tradition is adapted for the public areas of the hotel. I was going to award this hotel four stars but with poor customer service at reception and other problems, this is a three from me
First time in 6 years back in Athlone, a place we both love. Stayed in the Sheraton. The staff were lovely. Very polite. My only issue was the bed room. The mattress was in bad shape and resulted in me sliding to the middle during the night. The pillows were extremely soft and I had to fold them over. I don’t like the noise of the aircon during the night so the quilt was to thin and I woke up cold during the night. Then the under sheets did not fit the bed. The TV was a challenge at best and after asking 5 staff members they still could not get the ‘hotel on air’ app to work with the tv. All in all we still both love the town and the hotel, just need to brush up on the rooms.
We stayed for one night (Saturday night) and we cannot wait to visit the Sheradon again. It a was amazingly peaceful and quiet. The staff are very approachable, polite and well mannered. We attended a private function in the hotel. I am a ceoliac and when I asked the waiter if the bufffet was gluten free he went to the kitchen to double make sure it was. The spread laid on was spot on!
Enjoyed a night away with my other half this week. We were warmly greeted by Mark on reception who was kind enough to ring us when our room was ready as we had arrived very early. The restaurant manager greeted us both at dinner that evening and breakfast again the following morning and the restaurant is certainly well ran. We enjoyed a lovely meal and out waitress Hannah was fantastic. Breakfast before we left was very tasty and the pastries are to die for! Would definitely recommend and look forward to staying again
We stayed for a weekend in this excellent hotel and were delighted with the standard of service, the facilities, the cleanliness and the very helpful staff. We upgraded to a tower bedroom which was large, quiet, and gave an wonderful view over the town and the surrounding (flooded) countryside. The set dinner on both nights was included in our package. There was a small selection on the menu but each dish we had was delicious. Breakfasts had a great choice and if you didn't see anything e.g. porridge, you just asked and it was provided. Staff were efficient, helpful and very friendly and always showed an interest in who you were and what you were doing - perfectly customer focused.
Recently spend a very enjoyable weekend in the Sheraton, Athlone. This was a return visit and very impressed to be greeted by the general manager at check in, thanks Garrett. Check-in was efficient and friendly and our room was excellent, the deluxe room is a must. Breakfast is to a high standard with a great range of options, hot and cold. The staff are all very professional and friendly, a real plus for the hotel. We will be returning in the future.
I stayed in this hotel last weekend for a friend's birthday have to say the hotel impressed with its super friendly staff the cleanliness of the hotel and the food we had a quick snack in the bar before we had the sit down meal, wings and nachos were amazing I stayed in the tower the room was lovely with great views overlooking Athlone town the room was quiet so you cloud get a good nights sleep , breakfast had a variety of freshly cooked foods to make your own Pancakes; nothing was too much trouble for the staff and always with a smile on their face. There is a lovely atmosphere in this hotel that makes you feel welcome have too make a point of the food at the birthday was amazing well done to the kitchen.
Stayed one night for work meeting in the area.... really superb hotel. Am a pretty seasoned traveller and for the most part hotels like this are pretty much similar with the hard product. What differentiates is the staff and here they have got it spot on. All staff I encountered were fantastic. All cheerful and seemed to genuinely enjoy their work! Special mention to the bar manager a German lady didn’t get her name.... she was so accommodating with my odd dietary requests.... I ordered the haloumi burger without the bun ( on a carb free diet) she went to great pains to ensure I knew what I was getting (haloumi not everyone’s thing and I got the impression not frequently ordered!). She substituted any carb on the plate with various salads/veg and was so chatty during a very busy evening. Leisure facilities also excellent... only slight quibble was the breakfast hot food... buffet style so wasn’t the greatest as tends to sit for a while.... surprised no option to order something like poached eggs etc... then again I didn’t ask so am sure they would have accommodated had I done so but other establishments usually advise you that the option to order is there.... but a minor point... the cold buffet was excellent and complimentary newspapers a nice touch. I will definitely return both for business and with family if in the area. Price point very reasonable as well...,
Arrived at 3pm, Complimentary free parking which is a bonus. Nice stylish lobby, Check-in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly & enthusiastic. We stayed at the 5th floor of the tower building, It's not much of a "Tower" by international Level as it has only 11 storey, but since no other building is taller than 3 storey in this town, being on only 5th floor means you still get an unobstructed city view. Room was spacious, Air con fan was a bit loud other than that all is fine, bathroom is well kept , no other room noise. Breakfast @10e per head is well priced, the usual selection of full english breakfast, muffins & pastries,Cereals, fruits & cold meat, The sausages were ridiculously salty, my partner and i both can't it. everything else is fine and i enjoyed the pancake very much.
