Sheraton Athlone Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

This is a good hotel right in the heart of Athlone. We only stayed one night and the rooms were extremely comfortable. There was no fridge or mini bar in the room but comfortable bed and spacious. It is a bit strange the layout of the hotel with 2 lifts between the lobby and our room. Breakfast staff were fabulous and friendly. Great choice of food however the buffet food was a bit dry (black and white pudding) we did however get to breakfast just before closing so perhaps if you go earlier the food will be fresher. I would stay here again And recommend this hotel.
Stayed for 3 nights for business. Loved the large spacious rooms. Hotel restaurants were generally ok but nothing to write home about. Weird system of room arrangement in two towers but wasn’t a deal breaker. Nice beds though.
I have stayed here several times and this time didn't disappoint! All the staff are exceptional at their jobs, so friendly and passionate about their jobs. The room was spacious and clean and any request from reception was dealt with to the highest of standards. Thanks again for a wonderful stay! Can't wait to come back!!! Roisin 😁
Stayed here for the 2nd time a few weeks ago. Overall it was a lovely stay with very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast and fantastic treatments in the spa. My only negative comments are that I did notice a difference between the 1st time I stayed (almost 4 years ago) and this time around with the wear and tear of the hotel. The 1st time we stayed the hotel was immaculate and I'm pretty sure we were actually given the same tower room. However on this occassion I did notice a lot more wear and tear with the room and hallways. The electronic control for the curtains was broken and as the room has has floor to ceiling glass all around the room it was a bit of a job to try pull the curtains. The lady on reception was apologetic when I told her about this. I did notice the voile curtains were torn quite badly in places and there was noticeable mold on them around the air conditioning unit. I would have expected better in a hotel of this standard, in particular when we were paying extra for this room.
We (my sisters & sister-in-law) stayed in the Sheraton, Athlone in late August. It was a two night stay, included was B&B and (2) ED. We could not speak highly enough of the Staff. The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was excellent and the Ladies on the Reception were more than helpful. We were going off on a boat journey on the Romaris Boat for a 2-hour tour and it was no trouble for the Receptionist to book us a Taxi to take us up to where the Boat sets sail. I have to say, as well as being delighted with our stay in the Sheraton, we would also highly recommend the Boat trip on the Shannon. Justin looked after us all and his boat would not take anymore than 12 passengers, so we had plenty of room. The Sheraton Hotel is definitely worth another visit, it's central and all of the shops are just below the hotel, no walking if you are not a walker. We all loved our trip.
Just went for breakfast in their restaurant - nothing special, just OK. ,pity because location is ideal ,staff are great ,service good. I am constantly looking for a good eating house in Athlone, but fast food seems to be dom.inant
We stayed there for the Post Office summer outing for the second time. Again service, meals and accommodation excellent. Great location in the shopping centre in the centre of Athlone close to all amenities and tourist interests..
Stayed here last night to celebrate a family occasion. We had a group of approx 14 adults and 10 kids. My wife and I had a room on level 9 in the tower. The rooms are very nice indeed. Having robes there is a really nice touch. We went for dinner in the restaurant around 8pm. The meal was absolutely great, from start to finish. The cod, beef, lamb and chicken were all thoroughly enjoyed. I had the beef. It was delicious. The service was very efficient and friendly. David looked after us very well. We then went to the bar for drinks, eventually retiring late into the night! The kids all enjoyed going to the pool this morning. My wife and I went for breakfast at 10.30. Great selection of food available for breakfast, so no complaints at all. All in all, we really enjoyed the brief visit the The Sheraton, Athlone. Every aspect of the stay was really very good so we will definitely be back again.
I had a halloumi burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were underdone and the burger was just okay. The only reason this is a three star review and not two-star is because of the very prompt and friendly service. The real disappointment was the pint of Guinness that I ordered. The head is meant to be creamy... and, well... just take a look at the picture. I only went here today because the car park of the Radisson was full. Next time I'm in Athlone, I'll be trying the Radisson again with my fingers crossed...
Room needed to be refurbished. Carpet, drapes, bedspreads were outdated. AC did not work well. Bed/pillows uncomfortable. Very slow service in the bar. Good free parking, you enter to the shopping mall with good signs leading to the hotel parking. Easy to walk to restaurants. Would not return.
