We decided to stay here based on a recommendation. We were on route to Achill island and decided on a little stop over. Greeted by lovely reception staff. Leisure facilities were the worst I have ever experienced, most lockers covered in dirt and white marks, dirty tissue paper everywhere. Walked out of ladies dressing room and a pile of ants coming out of crack in the wall to a mound of dirt. Pool smelt terrible, too much chlorine. Got out due to this as I am heavily pregnant. Back in the room, double bed, single, and fold up bed pushed up against a wall where all the phones lines were situated. Room was above function room which not appriopriate got a family with small kids. The worst bit was when we dined in the bar, my son ate in his high chair. He is only 20 months and he got the chair quite dirty. I cleaned it to dome extent with a napkin. The next morning at breakfast we went to get a high chair. The one we had used the night before was moved to dining room and had been left in the same condition as we left it the night before. Never once have I ever left a review on a hotel in my life. My concerns are so bad I have contacted health and safety authority to show them the pictures and conditions we endured.
We had our family reunion the bank holiday weekend in the Athlone Springs Hotel. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out I could not fault a thing. Our function room was perfect size and the use of the private garden allowed us to get a bouncy castle for the children. They had a ball. The food was delicious. What really made the experience great was the staff. The reception, bar and function room staff, managers and pool staff were extremely helpful and friendly. There was no problem with anything. I would recommend this hotel for a function.
We had a great experience at the Athlone Spring Hotel. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, room was beautiful and the food in the Ceaser Restaurant was fab. Our waiter Kyle Moran was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely come back again, either as a group or couple or as a family.
Was in here for hen start to finish was amazing Kyle Moran in the restaurant served us and he is the best table technician I've ever seen food was fab. Highly recommended this place for hen stag r family rooms r spotless also
A very nice hotel. From the moment we arrived every staff member we meet went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Very child friendly. The rooms were nice, clean. The pool and leisure centre was good.
I organised a 2 night stay for 17 people here. we had dinner on both nights in the restaurant and we had a fantastic afternoon tea included. I couldn't have done without the fantastic help of CJ who is reservations manager. When checking in the reception staff where friendly and so helpful, The rooms were amazing, very spacious and clean. All 17 of us had afternoon tea and the room was decorated gorgeous and the cakes were amazing, When organising a large group you really need the staff in the hotel to be on board with you and they were amazing helpful. Some of the group used the Zen spa and they said it was the best treatments they ever had. I would definitely recommend this hotel for group or family get together as they really will go out of there way to cater to your needs. Excellent value for money There was music in the bar both nights,
Definitely no where near a 'Luxury" or 4 star hotel. Looks far more impressive from the outside than from inside. While the room and bathroom were spacious, decor was tired and the room due a refurbishment. The bathroom had an open walk in shower but found it impossible to contain the water - it splashed well outside the shower area. Like other reviewers I found the room noisy - voices on the corridor were easily heard. The view from our room was far from what I expected - it overlooked private houses' back gardens, the back / side of the shopping centre and industrial sized rubbish bins. In addition there was no privacy e.g. net curtains so curtains had to remain closed while dressing. The flat screen TV on the wall was far too small for the size of the room. Leisure centre has no relaxation area / seating / loungers for non swimmers. The pool and jacuzzi were warm. Reception staff were excellent, bar food was very acceptable but breakfast was disappointing. Location may be an issue for those not travelling by car; it is easily accessible from the motorway but is not easily accessible to the town centre.
Spent a Saturday night here recently. It was a comfortable stay and the food was good. Nothing fancy but not expecting it to be. Was suprised at how far away from Athlone town the hotel was , it was around 20 mins away and therefore you would need a car. Staff was friendly and the hotel was clean- it does need a little updating/makeover. If I got a good deal I would go back again.
I stay at hotels all over Ireland North & South, I have stayed at other hotels in Athlone but this time I thought I would give Athlone Springs a try.... having read other reviews I though that maybe I had made a mistake but I'm pleased to say that although the hotels is a wee bit dated in places it sure does beat most of the other hotels in Ireland, the staff are really friendly without being OTT, My room was very large and a good bathroom, the rain shower had the best pressure I've ever used, so much so I didn't really need to turn the shower on full, the evening meal was in the bar area and I had one of the best steaks I've had in years, the breakfast is not 100% but having said that no hotel breakfasts are really that good...... I will certainly be using this hotel again when I next need a hotel in the area
Spend a Saturday night here recently. The hotel is an average Irish hotel. Nothing flash, but not expecting it either. Price was a little more than it should have been perhaps. Bedrooms were fine. Tv wasn't working reliably and very small. Beds were fine. Hard to regulate the room Temp. At times hot, at times cold. Unsure if the hairdryer was safe to use. Cord had said it failed electrical assessments. Leisure centre was the biggest let down. Quite grubby. Breakfast was standard buffet. Saving the best for last.... the bathroom was lovely, well the shower was great. The pressure and heat. However there was no bath. All in all, a very average experience but no major complaints.
