Hotel Campanile Szczecin2.0 out of 5.0

I stayed at the Camponile for nearly two weeks while working in Szezecin. This hotel has plenty going for it, but is seriously let down by a lack of investment and downright bad management. There are lots of small things wrong that could easily be fixed. So instead of getting four stars out of five, it gets a three minus from me. First the good points. The location is excellent, near the river and city centre. There are plenty of good restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. There’s an underground car park, plus street parking for guests right outside the front door. The rooms are rather bland, but OK for a low to mid-range chain, and there is free wifi. Prices are competitive by European standards. Now the issues. The whole place looks rather tired and is not completely clean. The carpets are damaged and threadbare in places. They look as if they don’t often get hoovered. Not even the guest rooms are properly cleaned. Some of my colleagues got back to find their beds hadn’t been made up, and bins were unemptied. One colleague had no hand basin plug, and though he raised the issue several times, no plug ever appeared. There is only one lift serving six floors, and it’s cramped and slow. You can wait many minutes to get up to your room. On one night there was heavy rain and the lift wasn’t working. Guests had to use the stairs, only to find water cascading from a hole in the roof and splashing all over the stairwell. Rooms facing the street are very noisy, even when the windows are shut. The clank of trams starts before 5am and continues long after midnight. I was also awoken by people shouting on the street below. Fortunately I was able to get moved to the back of building which was much quieter. Breakfasts are just about adequate, but the range of buffet food is limited and never changes. I didn’t take any other meals at the hotel. There is a small bar but it was closed on at least one night during our stay. The hotel staff are helpful, without being especially friendly. The guy looking after the car park was rather surly. You get the impression they are doing their best, but they are obviously stretched and morale is low. With better management, a makeover, and some attention to detail, this hotel could be so much better. It’s not quite as bad as some other reviews suggest. But as things stand, I can’t recommend it.
I hardly ever leave a place and think never again, but really I have never been so happy to get out. At £28 for the night some people would say you get what you pay for, well I have had a lot better from independent hotels for the same price when staying in poland. That said I didn't expect a lot, we were only staying 1night so a clean room, good bed and somewhere to get some food. I was let down on all of them. We arrived to find the restaurant was closed and not opened till 10 as advertised, inconvenient but not the end of the world as we found a nice square with a number of restaurants just 5 minutes walk away from the hotel. The room and the corridors stank like sewerage, not pleasant at all. The bathroom fan was broken and full of dust, tiles filthy, walls marked with god knows what. Bed was terrible and led to a poor nights sleep and a sore neck and shoulder the following morning. After walking from the shower to the bed my feet were black, says a great deal about the carpet cleaning. On a positive note .....eh.....the shower had good water pressure and it was in a decent location otherwise I cant think of any I am afraid. The hotel lets the group down baldly, rest assured I will not be back.
The hotel's best days are definitely over. The room smelled badly and the bathroom even worse. The elevator is so slow it takes 10 minutes to get down (or up). The staff at the reception was just fine, the location of the hotel is great, the internet in the room completely unreliable (don't even think about banking or any financial transaction from your room, the connection will be interrupted several times). The breakfast was ok but the decor is really out of date and one immediately starts thinking how old the food must be as well..... The hotel restaurant has a very polite waiter and good affordable food. Somehow it looks better at night. The hotel needs a complete renovation and it will be fine. This needs to be done as soon as possible. As it is now it shouldn't be accepting any more guests. The word that comes to mind at this point is "decrepit".
Hotel Campanile in Szczecin is located in the city centre 10 min walk from the main train station and close to several tram stops. Friendly staff and a nice lobby meets you when you manage to find the somewhat hidden entrance to the hotel. Negatives Sink was blocked. Damp smell in the room. The free Wi-Fi was so slow that you could use it for anything. It also didn't work at all in the room. Too few power sockets in the room and no one close to the bed. Unfortunately I can't recommend this hotel. A few, fairly simple, things needs to be fixed first.
Good service ,poor rooms. One towel for two persons.Need to ask staff for extra pillow and towels. No fridge in the room.Good breakfast but every day the same food, menu should be changed from time to time.Good location in the town center. Garage entrance very narrow.
The is fantastic. The room is fine and clean but the WiFi is very very slowly. The place is about 10 min to walk to city senter. There is also good transport nearby the hotel to everywhere. I want to advice the hotel to make the WiFi better to get more customers.
We came 2 hours before check-in, but we were still allowed to get our room right away! It was also possible to park free on street, or in the garage belonging to the hotel (for a small amount). The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was bigger than expected. Bonus: free wifi in the complete building and an ATM in the lobby. Check-out took only 3 min. and I will personally recommend this hotel to everyone traveling to Szczecin :-)
Basic but good hotel in the center of Szczecin. Clean, friendly staff, breakfast more than expected. Ask for rooms at the courtyard side - it's more quiet. Good quality for the price. Close to all interesting sites of the city. Better than IBIS. Some restaurants around, I recommend new brewery "Nowy Borwar" with good food and home made beer - 10 min walk.
The hotel is situated near the old town and short distance to good tourist and eating places. Also very short to tram and bus.The hotel is clean and have a nice breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but clean.
Very good hotel, friendly staff and interesting location. Perfect place to stay for a short-term period. Everything was clean and furniture was very comfortable. WI-fi was not very good, so it is not the best option for business people.
