The house is ideally located near The best beach ( 3 min drive) If you are searching for quiet and relaxation, you will find it here. This is trully the best value in Cayman Island. House are really clean. Even though you will need a car to visit beaches and get groceries ( also really close), it is great to be out of the crowds and have your own place to cook if need it. Netflix available on TV. My daughter have fun in small swimming pool in very picturesque surroundings of beautiful palms and other tropical plants. The house is well equipped (tower, beach chair. I think there is also snorkel equipment and even kids sand toys!) Dean are extremely friendly and helpful, before and during the entire stay. Thank you once again for everything and we hope to come again one day!
Absolutely beautiful oasis in West Bay! We loved the bright, modern, well-appointed room. It’s both away from the busy Seven Mile Beach area and thus wonderfully quiet, but it’s also super close by car. Dean is just the nicest - very welcoming and helpful. He goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is a great experience. One of our favorite things was the closet full of beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, beach towels... and there was also another closet full of snorkel gear if you didn’t have your own. The pool and hot tub are beautiful, overlooking a pond where we saw a big turtle. Breakfast was excellent - something different every day! We will 100% stay here again and look forward to coming back!!
Hi, My boyfriend and I stayed in Shangri-La B&B and really enjoyed it. Our room travelers was very clean and nice. Shower was nice and hot and bed was comfortable and we had a little balcony to sit on. One morning we saw a white egret type of bird, a small heron, 3 iguanas and just loved being close to nature and relaxed. We are not big on fancy hotels with 50 chairs lining up by the ocean. We enjoyed feeling that we were away from all of the busyness. Breakfast was very good every day and it was well rounded with delicious food. We always sat on the back porch with other guests and compared notes about Cayman which was fun. We met a lot of wonderful people at this B&B. It is a quiet experience at Shangri-La and we enjoyed it. it was near restaurants and beaches no more than 10 minutes drive away. this is our second time staying here and we enjoyed the low-key ambience of this hotel. It felt like home. On our last day, we asked Dean if he could save us breakfast as we were going for a swim before it is served and he was happy to do so. We found our breakfast at 10AM after all were gone in the fridge waiting for us to microwave it. We really enjoyed the getting away from it all feeling this B&B provided. Thank you to Dean for providing a place to stay away from the beaten path and not as commercialized as a lot of the hotels on Seven mile beach. In fact, we like West Bay with its quiet nature which makes you feel more like a native than a visitor.
I had such an awesome stay here. Very tranquil, serene environment, which is just what I was looking for. The property is very nice. The room was clean and spacious, and my balcony overlooked the water. I stayed in the Travelers Palm Room. Dean was absolutely fabulous! Welcoming with a friendly smile, and happy to answer questions, arrange transport when needed, and make recommendations for food and activities, as well as checking in with the guests to make sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. Breakfast in the mornings was lovely. I had a chance to meet other guests and chat about their stay and hear about their adventures. It was like sitting down with family. My next trip back to Grand Cayman, I'll definitely be returning to the Shangri-La!!!
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a short time and absolutely loved it. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The grounds are well kept with a small outdoor pool facing the canal. They have a locker for dive/snorkeling gear and a separate car park. Getting to Seven Mile is very easy and just a short trip down the highway. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and provided a variety of tasty options. Dean is a wonderful host. I highly recommend this boutique bed and breakfast for anyone looking for an intimate experience at an affordable price point.
My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful stay at Shangri-La during our Grand Cayman vacation. Dean was very welcoming, friendly, and hospitable, giving us a quick tour of the place as well as tips on places to eat and check out when we first arrived. Throughout our stay he was always happy to answer any of our questions. We loved the breakfasts each morning (thank you again, Venus!), which typically included something egg-y, meats (sausage, bacon, etc), starch (potatoes, hash browns, plantains, etc), sweet (muffins, pastries), as well as fruit, juices, coffee, tea, toast, and cereal options. This was a great way to start our day. We also would chat with other guests and hear about island activities and plans which was nice. We stayed in the Poinciana room, which had a comfy bed and pillows. It was nice and spacious, and I put to good use the various drawers in the dresser for my clothes and things. I appreciated the mini fridge in our room to keep our beverages and snacks cool. Between our adventures around the island, we liked relaxing around the property. The 2 hammocks by the pond are great, as well as the lounge chairs by the pool. There's a jacuzzi next to the pool, which we enjoyed at the end of the day when it was slightly cooler outside in the shade. There are bikes available for guests to use, although I highly recommend renting a car - it's way more convenient to get around the island with one. I'm from the US, so driving on the left side of the road was an adventure for me but I quickly got used to it. The roundabouts are a little tricky! Be aware of what lane you are in and where you need to exit the roundabout. Guests also have full access to beach/pool towels, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and snorkel gear. Cemetery beach isn't too far from the B&B to get some beach views and snorkeling; there's easy parking on the side of the road. Thank you again Dean and Venus for such an enjoyable stay!
My Fiance and I visited the Caymans this past weekend to get away from the frigid temperatures in Toronto, Canada. We choose the Shangri-la Bed & Breakfast. We stayed in the Papaya Suite. This was an amazing Bed and Breakfast, the service was fantastic, the room and the amenities were great and so comfortable. The rooftop patio that is a part of the this room is an amazing bonus - once you come back from the beach (which isn't too far by the way) you can get some extended sun time on the rooftop patio. Also the rooftop patio is a great spot to take in the night sky - highly recommend it. The host of the Bed & Breakfast (Dean) was amazing, so personable always around to answer any questions about the island and made some great recommendations. Great to see him interacting with the guests to make sure everyone is doing well. The breakfast and staff are equally great. There was a good variety everyday at breakfast and its perfect to set you out for your day to start enjoying the island. There parking available on site so if you are doing a car rental to get around the island you don't have to worry about where to leave it - the parking is convenient and safe. Overall this was a great experience and stay and would definitely recommend a stay here - can't wait to go back!
When we booked online...we needed a room and two beds for 3 adults. When we arrived, we got one bed and a tiny cot that would fit a little child that was folded up in a closet. We explained that we booked for 3 adults and this will not work. They would not refund us anything at all and we had to find another hotel during Christmas which was mostly booked in all of Cayman and it was a nightmare. Worst place ever to not stand behind what was told we were getting. The pictures online looks better than it really is!!! Not a great location either for a vacation in Cayman Islands. We did not have a good experience with this place at all. False advertisement.....
My brother came all the way from Alaska and I from Colorado to The Cayman Islands, for the Kaaboo music festival. We chose the Shangri-La B&B for our stay. Dean the owner, treated us so well and put our minds and bodies at ease with the amount of comfort and care he provided us. Each morning there was a fantastic breakfast awaiting us with great conversations to be had with the other guests. He called for taxi service whenever we needed and gave us great ideas for our adventures outside of the festival. We will be recommending Dean & The Shangri-La to all friends & family! Thank you for the Amazing first travel experience to the Caymans!
Dean (owner - host) is truly the most hospitable person I've ever met. He'll go the distance to ensure you'll enjoy your stay and time in the Caymans. Shangri La is a must stay. I will definitely stay here again! Thanks Again Dean!
