This is a basement apartment with access from the back/side yard of the house. Yes, you will hear occasional footsteps above you, but only for brief periods now and then. If that is going to bother you, then it's probably not for you. That being said, once inside it feels nothing like a basement apartment; it looks and feels like a spacious one-bedroom condo. The entrance to this unit perfectly captures Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of "compression and release." The owners also have an attic-level rental if that is more to your liking. Owners couldn't have been nicer, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They really went above and beyond. One thing that I always hope for in rentals is that they will at least have some basic necessary things, like salt & pepper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, a coffee maker with filters or a Keurig and at least enough coffee for the first morning, etc. If I have to go buy all of those items for a two or three day stay, I'm not happy. I'd rather just be in a hotel. This apartment had all of those things and more. All I needed to do was pick up some groceries. That's what I expect, and this apartment met or exceeded my expectations in every way.

Graduation weekend!

We came to see our son graduate from Georgetown and spend some time in the city and this space was perfect - very clean, spacious, nice amenities, easy parking, quiet neighborhood. Sometimes we took an uber and sometimes drove around but all worked out well. Very pleased with our booking - thank you!

Great location and very well maintained

The property is very nice and well maintained- there is ample car parking (even with construction) and it's really easy to get to via car. The only reason I gave the review 4 stars is that it is a basement apartment and the upstairs is **really** loud, even when they don't mean to be- this is just a thing with this type of living space. But there were constant noises from above and that was disconcerting. I think this would be a great place to stay if you actually have a partner or friends (not loud) because I don't think that those noises would be annoying or bothersome to a party making their own totally normal noise. But to a single person in town for work, it was a bit distracting and made it hard to settle in the evening.

Spacious, Comfortable, and Clean DC Apartment with Parking

We loved staying at Top of the Town! The apartment was spacious, comfortable, clean, and convenient! The apartment is larger than the pictures show with one bedroom, one bath, kitchen, and a large living space. The apartment was spotless and the bed and furniture were comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and the bathroom is stocked with hand soap, body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Paper products are provided. We were so impressed that the apartment looked AND smelled clean! This is a basement apartment with no moisture or funky smells. The apartment is conveniently located on a beautiful street with street parking. We met the owner and they were incredibly kind and gracious!! We will stay here again!! Thank you!!

Decent but needs improvement

This was a decent, clean, property to stay at but also needs some improvement in some areas. The main area is spacious! Loved the big couch and the kitchen table. The main bedroom is small but cute and clean and good for a long weekend stay. Plentiful parking. The property company was helpful and quick to respond.Accurate description on having bus stops very close! But takes a good 50 minutes to an hour to get to touristy D.C. The bus goes through some nearby shady looking areas and therefore will have some interesting people on the bus. No issue to us but others may be surprised.As the listing noted, you can hear most everything from the family above, especially if they are in the kitchen. I would suggest a door on the unusable staircase to muffle the noise.For a million dollar home, I was surprised to see how much the bathroom needs updating and the plentiful amounts of scuffs on the walls. I was tempted to find a magic eraser! Also, the washer and dryer sound like they are going to break any minute. Would we stay again? Probably not but still a good place for the price!

The only item we had was that the family living in the main part of the house can be heard walking as the floors are wood. It is very loud at night and makes it hard to sleep.

Nice stay!

We enjoyed our time at Top of the Town. The apartment was comfortable and clean, with plenty of space for three people. The pull-out bed in the couch in the living room was comfortable for our teenager. There is a bus stop two blocks from the rental, which connects to metro stations for easy commuting around town without having to drive everywhere.

This basement apartment is very light, clean, and well furnished. The family who owns the home is very helpful. A service handles communications and is very prompt although not as easy to use as could be. But not bad. We would definitely stay here again! W

Loved it

Property was as advertised. Worked so well for my husband and me and our adult daughter. Comfortable, appreciated the extras…plenty of paper towels, toiletries, garbage bags…things that other places seem to skimp on. Communication was great. Recommend a brighter light on the side path into the home at night; have your cell phone flashlight on. Also REALLY appreciated the parking - no need for a pass!

Lovely locale and great space!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is a short drive from the Fort Totten metro, with plenty of food and entertainment nearby. Ample space and certainly not lacking in amenities. We appreciated how communicative the property manager was and how accommodating they were as well. We would stay here again without a second thought.

DC stay

Very nice basement apartment. Everything was clean upon arrival. You do have to climb down narrow stairs to access, so our roller cases were difficult to bring into the apartment. We are seniors, so it was a struggle. Parking is on the street in front of the house. You have to pay attention to road cleanings, and move your car to the appropriate side of the street. Overall, it met our needs. 😊

Illness Prevented Stay

I had set up this stay for my parents when visiting. Illness prevented them from visiting unfortunately. However, the Property manager/owner stayed in contact with us the entire time and was very easy to work with. She was willing to refund the cleaning fee & other built-in fees which was much appreciated. I would absolutely try to book this again with her.

Long Weekend in DC

We had a great time with our kids for their first trip to DC. There was easy access to parking, getting in and out of town, lots of places close by to eat or shop. This was a perfect spot for our family to rest our heads after a long day of exploring.

The importance of details

With this property I had the same experience as with others and that is why I’ve decided from now on to stay only at hotels. The pictures and description are amazing and when you get there the place is just “Ok”. With that being said, this property has everything you need, in the kitchen and bedroom. It has Good space. The a/c’s worked perfectly. Although you could hear the steps of the family living upstairs most Of the time it didn’t bother me. The details that needed improvements are: The place is clean but not deep cleaned and that is of utmost importance for me.The bath tub needs immediate renewal and the hair dryer must be replaced. The entrance also needs attention since the property is in a basement and the downstairs are not welcoming. There are stains in some walls that could easily be cleaned. In terms of time response they were amazing and answer immediately to a couple of requests we had at the beginning of our stay. It has the potential to be a 5 star property in my opinion.

Lovely place in Uptown

The apartment is very clean and in a nice neighbourhood in Uptown DC. The kitchen is well equipped and it was great to have access to the outside patio. The parking outside was also a great bonus. One thing to note for tall people is that the ceiling is quite low so remember to duck! (My partner banged his head on the beams multiple times). Would recommend for a neighbourhood stay in DC.

Loved the hominess feel of the place. It felt like a quiet little garden apartment versus a crowded noicy hotel. It was just what I was looking for during my 5 day, 4 night stay in DC area. I was quite surprised how easy the Metro Bus was to use to get to downtown DC. I also loved the 5 block proximity to the beautiful Rock Creek Park. I definitely want to book this unit again in the future.
