The location is convenient- other than that they did everything else horribly. Check in was slow, staff was arrogant and not very helpful. Asked for room not near elevator - gave me room next to elevator. Spa service waisted 1.5 hrs of my time - never received treatment. Hotel manager never called back as he promised to resolve the issue. Was accosted and embarrass by security in front of guests bringing my bike into hotel. Front desk service just terrible no real sense of urgency or willingness to assist when things don’t go right. Old 70’s eta hotel with nothing special run by Euro capital properties, do your self a favor and stay at Marriott properties, you’ll be glad you did.

This property is nicely located in proximity to the national Mall. The structure is old. Depending on the room your view can be of concrete. The bathroom is nice but shower door wouldn't close completely. Don't believe this should be a five star hotel.

Good location. Great view. Great shower. Large bathroom. Plenty of closet space. Very friendly and usually helpful staff, particularly at concierge/reception. Not enough lighting in room. No lighting switches on many of the lights. Turning lighting off and on required programing lights in a hard to reach, hard to read black input screen. Same problems with fan/heating system on hard to read black screen. . Pre-programmed to have top temperature of 73 degrees. Had to ask housekeeping for help reprogramming temperature. Asked for newspaper to be delivered to room. Only happened once after I complained to staff. Lousy, expensive restaurant with nice but incompetent hostesses.

This is a fun hotel with great style and historical interest. Seemed well suited to business travelers and couples. Nice fasciitis and bar/restaurant options. Might not be the most convenient location for some, but easy walk into Georgetown or to National Mall and very scenic. I gladly would return to The Watergate Hotel on a future visit to DC.

good property. room was a little on the small side for the price, but staff was professional and friendly. Parking is too expensive.

Elegant and relaxing stay at the Wagergate. Highly recommended.

Excellent room and hotel facilities. Staff were good.

This is a “World-Class” hotel. We live locally to the Watergate and when we realized that a heavy snowstorm was coming, we decided to weather the weekend storm in comfort and style. We checked in and walked in falling snow to the Kennedy Center Opéra House just one block away... very romantic! The professional staff, fine dining, spa, and 24 hour room service made our two-day stay quite memorable. Planning another getaway at the Watergate is on our agenda.

Booked a room for an anniversary trusting the five star ranking. Room was in disrepair. More than a few things were broken including the towel rack in the shower, the curtain ( frozen in either up or down), the bedside phone. The food at the bar was expensive and below average quality. The service at the bar was terrible and the staff had a very negative attitude as we purchased only one alcoholic beverage with our $100+ food order. The valet parking was very slow. Allow 30-45 minutes to get your car even if you call ahead. I could go on, but this should be enough to tell you it’s not a top wuakity hotel. It’s a raggedy, sorry excuse for premium lodging.

It was a great experience! Very comfortable and enjoyed the view.

Very nice and clean and very friendly hotel great views of the Potomac River

I have never written a review before, but our stay was truly so awful that I had to. When we arrived the staff could not find our reservation and blamed me for booking last minute. They finally found it after about a 15 minute wait. Not the end of the world, but not great when trying to entertain a small child. I asked where the pool was, our main mission for the day, was given directions, but not told that the heater was broken and it was too cold to swim in. We made our way to the pool, checked in with the spa attendant, still told nothing, but she forgot to give us robes and towels. Searched the changing room, nothing, so we had to back track and ask for them. Again, not the worst thing, but not amazing. Make it to the pool, absolutely frigid, cannot swim in. Jacuzzi also out of commission. No signs, no communication. Go to the showers to try and warm up, also no hot water! It was truly so miserable. Call the front desk to inquire. They apologize and say this is the first they heard of it, but all other guests in the pool area said they complained and the spa attendant snapped at me when I asked, said she had been dealing with complaints all day. They did refund the resort fee which was appreciated, but still, strike 2. And finally, at 4am hot air just starts billowing into the room, waking us all up because it’s so hot and uncomfortable. Truly a terrible stay, from staff to amenities. With so many options in the city, this is not worth it!

Rooms and fitness facilities better than expected. Good conference location.

The rooms are hideous. Stayed in the king suite and the room was covered in a thick layer of dust, the air conditioner is outdated and didn't work so called the front desk and they sent an engineer up to "fix it" yet it didn't help. The a/c kept adjusting several times at night (7-10 times) which kept waking us up. The room has thick curtains which you have to manually pull down, yet it was still bright in our room because there were too many gaps between the curtain for the room to be blacked out (which is annoying when you try sleeping in a warm room and wake up all the time because of the sounds that the air conditioner makes. I was told that i was going to get an upgraded room and two hour complimentary late check out due to VIP status and that didn't happen. Honestly I was ready to leave the minute I got to the room and saw how hideous the decor was (mostly because of the dust). Breakfast was very basic and cost over 60 bucks for two people. Definitely not worth that cost, the coffee sucked. Stay at a better hotel that values cleanliness, has more modern decor, and keeps their word about what to expect prior to arrival (upgraded room/late checkout/etc). I get it, the idea is to keep the old charm of the hotel, but if that's the plan then at least have a modern air conditioner when it is 93+ degrees outside and also don't have a dirty room. Very disappointed.

Good location.FOOD and drinks very expencive. Bed is very comfortable. I will give a 4 star rating. I would expect more for 5 stars:more complementary drinks.

Dear Guest, Greetings from Georgetown. We were delighted to host your Washington retreat and we thank you for taking the time to share your review. While great lengths were taken to maintain the original architecture of the hotel, our interiors have been completely rebuilt and we do hope that you enjoyed the innovative design. Your added feedback is most appreciated and we hope that a member of our team was able to assist in repairing the shower door. Once more, the pleasure was ours and we look forward to you visiting again so that we can have the chance to better impress. Until then. Warm Regards, The Watergate Hotel

We appreciate your added feedback regarding the in-room technology and we apologize if these controls were not better explained. Your added comments are met with appreciation as well and we apologize for any inconsistencies experienced throughout your stay. On behalf of all of us, it was a joy to have you with us and we look forward to winning your heart with a more enchanting experience the next time you settle in with us. Until then.
