Quaint old property excellent restaurant but no TV.

A trip back in time. Spacious sitting/bed rooms with a very pleasing 1930s ambiance.

Perfect little old-school inn. Great location, A little quirky with lots of charm. Excellent restaurant.

The lobby and restaurant

All the rooms have historical character names and furnished with period furniture. Parking was pricey!

Best: convenient, clean, and unique. Improvement opportunities: no fan in the bathroom, which would use a touch of upkeep and no microwave.

Quirky art, a great tub in the bathroom, unique furnishings and a great location made my stay a pleasure. However, be aware that there is no elevator and parking is difficult. I didn't have a problem with the two flights of stairs to my room but some may. I used a parking app but it was still a bit of a hassle to have a car. It was hot and steamy in DC when I stayed but the AC in my room worked extremely well.

Kind of shabby chic - which can appear a bit dingy

Super charming unique historic townhouse. My room had bay windows, a rocking chair, unique art, a chaise lounge, a clawtooth tub, and a fireplace!

Such a charming in with a wonderful vibe. The hotels restaurant was so delicious and very beautifully decorated. Sit outback if the weather is right for it wonderful garden feel.

Excellent. Has always been my first choice stay in DC.

Love the quirky rooms and seating areas. A great place to relax!

This place is a mixed bag. Charming for sure and with comfortable beds. However, we had the 4th floor and luggage was heavy. Also the bathroom was a wet bath, meaning if you showered the whole floor was standing in water. The dining room staff were very friendly and gracious. We loved the ambiance but were weary from the steps and trying to navigate a wet bathroom floor. We would not do it again.

The hotel itself may be unique: location, interesting features, range of different price points, historic age, employee ownership aspect. Probably inconvenient for wheelchairs but I did not ask; maybe there is access.

This is a historic inn and lovely as such. If you are expecting every modern convenience ... particularly TV ... then this is not the place to be. My room had lovely old furniture including one antique sofa that I wouldn't mind owning. Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit oddly configured with an awkward marble-topped step up to the tub/shower. Getting in was no problem, but exiting (wet) onto the slippery marble step wasn't ideal. At my suggestion, I believe the hotel will install a grab bar to make bathroom safer. If you have a room on a lower floor facing the street, be prepared for the possibility of street noise. One night I was woken up in the middle of the night by what seemed to be a group of people arguing about their itinerary. (I didn't get out of bed to check.) So if you need a quiet room, ask for one toward the back of the hotel. In the morning, there is a station in the lobby with free coffee and delicious scones, but if you don't make it there before 10, you will be out of luck scone-wise. I'd definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience, charming and friendly staff.
