Such a charming in with a wonderful vibe. The hotels restaurant was so delicious and very beautifully decorated. Sit outback if the weather is right for it wonderful garden feel.

Excellent. Has always been my first choice stay in DC.

Love the quirky rooms and seating areas. A great place to relax!

This place is a mixed bag. Charming for sure and with comfortable beds. However, we had the 4th floor and luggage was heavy. Also the bathroom was a wet bath, meaning if you showered the whole floor was standing in water. The dining room staff were very friendly and gracious. We loved the ambiance but were weary from the steps and trying to navigate a wet bathroom floor. We would not do it again.

The hotel itself may be unique: location, interesting features, range of different price points, historic age, employee ownership aspect. Probably inconvenient for wheelchairs but I did not ask; maybe there is access.

This is a historic inn and lovely as such. If you are expecting every modern convenience ... particularly TV ... then this is not the place to be. My room had lovely old furniture including one antique sofa that I wouldn't mind owning. Bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit oddly configured with an awkward marble-topped step up to the tub/shower. Getting in was no problem, but exiting (wet) onto the slippery marble step wasn't ideal. At my suggestion, I believe the hotel will install a grab bar to make bathroom safer. If you have a room on a lower floor facing the street, be prepared for the possibility of street noise. One night I was woken up in the middle of the night by what seemed to be a group of people arguing about their itinerary. (I didn't get out of bed to check.) So if you need a quiet room, ask for one toward the back of the hotel. In the morning, there is a station in the lobby with free coffee and delicious scones, but if you don't make it there before 10, you will be out of luck scone-wise. I'd definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience, charming and friendly staff.

The Tabard is a unique place to stay, not a cookie-cutter hotel.

Wonderfully not a chain. Historic appeals to me. No down side

In brief: the property was enchanting, and the service was irritatingly disappointing. I was staying by myself, on a business trip, and also had booked on Orbitz rather that through the hotel itself; surely I did not get the best room, have to take that into account. The house is a quite old one, and is a maze of little staircases, nooks and crannies, I loved this. The check-in clerk said it is the oldest hotel in DC, do not know if that means "longest operating" or "by age of house" or what. I understood that many rooms had only shared baths, mine had a quite modern attached made out of what had perhaps been a large storage closet, or a small room. The room itself had the patina of age, cracked floorboards and all, well adapted by modern protection with a light touch. The modern fixtures, however, were cheap and ill-fitted - e.g blinds and the window-unit air conditioner. My room was obviously a somewhat marginal one; at the back of the building, overlooking trash cans, and the only guest room on the floor that side, rest storage and office rooms. Service bad - I got the sense that they are doing you a favor by being there. The kitchen had short hours and inconvenient to business travelers. One minute after the 10 PM closing, and the restaurant front desk was empty, could not attract attention of the one barman. Would not open a few minutes before the 7 AM opening time to give me a box bfast at departure. No TV in room. WiFi so spotty as to be non-existent - NOT ok!!

The building is charming and staff is very kind. The restaurant is very good, and the breakfast they offer is the best!

It is a very charming inn, and well-known to locals for its restaurant. Very cozy and delightful decor. The staff are very helpful.

We love the character of the Tabard Inn and relax immediately due to the charm of the rooms and dining area.

Loved the coziness and warm feeling of the place. Has many wonderful areas to relax. The food was excellent!
