Great staff, clean and convenient! Awesome property on GW campus!

Very close to GW and a very nice and helpful staff

Property was perfect to tour DC. Have a suite and loved having a separate living space and kitchenette area. Highly recommend

The room was a good size and close to the White House and National Mall. The only down side was there were not a lot of restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay here again.

Our hotel room was very spacious. Everythingnwas a bit run down looking, but it was clean. The kitchenette included a proper kettle & pretty big fridge. The staff was mostly excellent and were happy to hold our luggage the next day for us as we explored DC. The location is great. It was close enough to the national mall & kennedy center that you could have a nice walk or an inexpensive taxi. HOWEVER, you cannot control the temp in your room. Our room was sweltering hot, no matter what we did to the thermostate. When we told the front desk, they let us know that the whole building is either on "heat" or "AC" depending on the time of the year. Since it was February, that meant no AC for us. We had to open all of the windows to try cool down our room. It felt like sleeping on a Summer night there and I woke up sweaty. Also, it was very loud at night because we had to keep the windows open and could hear everything outside. Temperature control is very important to my comfort, so despite the perks of this place, I will never stay there again. It ruined a good nights sleep for me.

Staff was very courteous and friendly They were most helpful and accommodating The only challenge was with the swipe cards for the room and fitness center. Had to have cards replaced multiple times because they did not function. But, that was just a minor inconvenience Overall, I would recommend to others. And, I would stay there again.

Great location and available parking.

The rooms were spacious, updated, well appointed, and clean. The staff, from garage attendants, to cleaners, to front desk were above and beyond cordial and helpful. Location also made it perfect for walking around; 10 minute's to Kennedy Center, White House; 7 minutes to Lincoln Memorial and the mall. Grrat value gor the price.

Good location close to all the monuments and activities. Rooms are very large and well maintained. Building is charming and staff friendly. Our room was on the alley and we were awoken by trash trucks every morning (didn't like that). Parking is expensive, limited, and VERY inconvenient (remote location and have to call for somebody from the hotel to walk over and let you in every time). Hotel restaurant has limited menu and wasn't very good and the hours are very limited.

Great location, just a short walk to the Mall. Clean and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. A great hotel.

Staff attention, cleanliness.

My son and I were in town for college tours. The location was on the edge of George Washington University, next door to the Bosnian and Hertzogovian Embassy, six blocks from the White House and just a couple blocks from the Lincoln Memorial. This location gave us a great feel for what it would be like to live here for school. While the building is clearly older, with narrow doorways in our room that would never pass code now, the high quality renovation (that feels practically brand new) gave the hotel a boutique vibe as opposed to a chain. And I have no doubt there are accessible rooms available as well. Our double queen room had a generous private dressing area adjacent to the bathroom. The shower head, and water pressure, and plentiful hot water was of spa-like quality. The mattresses were very comfortable, and cozy bedding a crisp hospital white. There was everything one would expect from a room safe, iron and ironing board to hair dryer and plenty of easy-to-reach outlets for all our electronic devices. We even had a spacious kitchenette in a separate room with everything one would need for a comfortable extended stay. As a New Yorker who appreciates well-appointed small spaces, our room would actually make a great starter studio apartment. I definitely recomend the State Plaza Hotel and would stay there again.

Great location and European style room and bathroom

It was a great value for the money. There is a CVS next door if you forgot anything and an embassy on the other side. The only down side is the homeless in the park across the street which is not the fault of the hotel but did make me feel less safe coming back at night or alone.

Great location! Walking distance to Kennedy Center, National mall. There is a CVS right next to the building. The room is very clean and BIG! Very much recommended!

uniq room

I was hesitant when I booked this property bc the price was so low (I paid $155 per night all in compared to $250 at hotels nearby), but I'm glad I chose it. I was very happy with my stay at State Plaza. The staff is incredibly nice and they go out of their way to be helpful. Our room was large and clean with a very comfortable mattress. Towels were thick, excellent water pressure, bath amenities were basic but fine. Lots of drawers and ok lighting. Could've used more electrical plugs. I wish the room had a mini-fridge -there is certainly plenty of space for it. The room safe was larger than usual. There is no pool, which would've been nice with the heatwave, but they do have a breakfast option on-site. Hotel does not allow pets, which was a big reason I chose it. On rainy days, hotel has umbrellas available for guests, which was very helpful. It is a walkable location and their are several bikeshare stations within a couple of blocks - we had no need for a car. It is right in the heart of GW Univ, with nice safe shady streets full of college students. Very little street noise. Not a lot of dining options in Foggy Bottom, and the whole area seems to shut down at 9pm, which to me is strange for a college area.. There is a convenient Whole Foods a few blocks north, and a CVS next door. Book with confidence - I would definitely stay here again.
