We had a hard time even getting in front of the hotel to use the valet parking, which is $50.00 a night. The rooms are very small and there is not any drawer space for clothing. We stayed for an event at the Verizon Center but I would rather walk a distance than be that close in a very uncomfortable expensive room. The staff is very nice.
Stayed for a week. I was in town for a conference and this hotel is in a great location, about 4 blocks from the convention center and four blocks from the national mall and all of the monuments/museums. Walking distance to many restaurants and METRO across the street. Great looking historic building and cool room decor (giant plaster lion head above the bed). Would repeat and would recommend. Only negative is that the room was a little small, but it wasn't a problem for me.
Amazing, my husband and I have a date and the experience was outstanding!!!
Perhaps our experience was best captured by our 10-year-old: "We love this hotel. It makes our family happy!" Certainly, the well-appointed rooms in a beautiful hotel located within walking distance of the National Mall made us all very happy!
We stayed at Kimpton Monaco during the thanksgiving break. It's unique in many ways having being built from a post office that was originally run down around 2003. A ton of history associated with the location which is hard to cover in a review. The food, service and staff are awesome and efficient. I ordered breakfast and dinner for kids in the hotel room and kids loved it. The location of the hotel is central and everything is pretty much in walking distance. The resturant seems really popular and fairly priced compared to location. They also have happy hour for all guests. Traveling from West coast, Kimpton was a breather comparing the value of service anyone gets for the money. The staff (Greg, Kara) were gracious in accommodating our needs.
Very nice hotel. Easy to get to and close to activities.
Great decor, friendly staff and great location. Would definitely stay again.
Central location makes walking to most of the main DC sites possible. On site restaurant was closed but free cocktail hour more than made up for it. Great staff.
We stayed for one night and could not have asked for more. Very centrally located, right across from Verizon center, lots of places to eat and shop.
Our stay was perfect except for a room key issue at first arrival, but they gave us a slight upgrade in return. It's within walking distance to the Mall attractions & museums. It's also steps from the Verizon Center if you're there to see a game or an event. Metro station is across the street and only 3 stops from Nationals Park. Great restaurants and bars nearby. Excellent staff...valet parking is half off for hybrid cars...bonus! Good value, incredible location.
Located just up block from Archives and Mall. Walk everywhere. Wine at 5 each night. Bikes to use in lobby. Great way to survey the mall. Breakfast in restaurant great. Room a little small. Check out Luke's Lobster just down the street. Paul's croissants on the way to the Archives are the best. Wonderful!
Great location. Walking distance from museums and restaurants. Beautiful historic building with cute interior design. Huge room with high ceilings. Friendly staff and welcoming lobby. I enjoyed the stay and would visit again.
I was in DC for a workshop and chose the hotel for its proximity to my class. I was not disappointed! Front desk personnel extremely friendly and helpful! Room service was quick and delicious - always love the nice touch of the cookies and infused waters in the afternoon and the wine hour every evening. The only strange thing was that I was told to call room service when I was done with my meal (which I did) but then the tray was left further down the hall next to an armoire where it stayed for two days. Otherwise, I love Kimpton hotels.
From the minute I got out of the car the staff took care of my needs! The bellman and front desk agents were fantastic. The history of the building was I chose to stay there, was a former post office dedicated by President Lincoln!! Easy walk to all of the historic sites.
Nice botique hotel but on the expensive side. Nicely located near the White House and other major monuments within walking distance. A nice addition is the nightly wine hour.
We just spent Memorial Day Weekend at Hotel Monaco in DC. The hotel is fabulous, staff courteous, and customer service outstanding. They have a wine reception every evening, and a great restaurant downstairs. The metro in right outside the door. We will definitely be back again!
It was a nice trip. Hotel was centrally located which made it easier to find many places to eat in walking distance and to catch sight seeing buses. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
The location is superb: very near the National Mall, good restaurants, theater, and shopping. The hotel staff was great and the room was fine, though quite small: bed, desk with one chair, and not much floor space. It was awkward to have the shower and sink separated from the toilet area. So if you're going to spend much time in the room, and if you're going to spend this much money anyway, you might want to spend a bit more and get a Monte Carlo room or one of their suites. Join the hotel's loyalty program to get free wi-fi, but for any other benefits of the program you have to book with the hotel directly, not via a travel site.
Stayed here with my significant other for a long weekend. The hotel itself was clean, updated, welcoming and located within walking distance of the Mall. The staff however, is exceptional. Wonderful, upbeat attitude. They take the time to fully answer you questions and address your needs total professionals. Will return again next time we are in DC.
We were in town to visit the sites of our Capital. The walk was nice to reach the National Mall and Metro was conviently located for further traveling.
