I really enjoyed my stay and would have given the Kimpton the highest rating but the bathroom was tiny -- and I'm not a very big person. But otherwise, it was a lovely place, with very friendly staff, in a great location.
Very helpful staff. Only problem was that the room was too hot during middle of the night.
We stayed here for a girls staycation. It was a beautiful room. Vey spacious for a 2 queen beds room. Also got a great price on orbitz. The best was the locaton. We were right in Dupont Circle around great restaurants and bars/nightclubs. The staff was super nice and very attentive. Def would recommend this hotel.
Very nice hotel. Easy check, nice location and amenities. Would definitely recommend. It was a little noisy but to be expected for a place that caters to families with small children and pets.
This hotel met expectations. The staff was fantastic and the room was great. We wished the lobby had been bigger to sit in. It's basically one bench and a high bar table. If you want to hang out only in your room, you are set!
Except for the miniscule lobby and horribly unreliable wifi, our visit was very good and the staff were great!
We enjoyed our stay but 2 things stand out. One the bathroom, which only had a toilet and tub/shower in it way way too small. The other is that we were in the back of the hotel and could hear all of the garbage trucks and activity around the garbage bin. The location really made up for those short comings as well as the staff, who were very pleasant and very welcoming.
Room large, clean, updated & had what I needed. Staff friendly & helpful, bringing extra desk chair for colleague who worked with me on a snow day. Restaurant exceeded expectations. Fresh coffee in lobby was very good (no coffee maker in room that made it OK). Will not hesitate to rebook. Steve, Boulder, CO
My fiance and I were having a really tough travel day that ended up actually pouring over into the wee hours of the morning. It wasn't until after midnight that we finally checked into our hotel - the Madera. Michele at the check-in counter was someone that I will never forget! I couldn't believe how kind, patient and accommodating she was, not only to us, but to other people who were actually not kind to her. To us, she was the light at the end of the tunnel. Our hotel room was extremely comfortable. We loved all of the amenities and the breakfast at the restaurant downstairs. Thank you all so much for making our night so much better. We will be sure to return to the Madera on our next trip to Washington D.C.
The Madera is really a class act. The staff is so friendly, the room was immaculate, and the location cannot be beat. I got a great price on the room through an online booking site package deal so it was also a really good value. The morning coffee and happy hour wine was also a nice perk.
I arrived at Madera at midnight on beginning of November 2014. The receptionist was very cheerful but she could not find my reservation and ask her manager to help her. The manager, she came, no smiling, no "hello, welcome.. We say" hello" but she did not say anyhting... She just try to solve problem. I don like her behavior. I except happier, more cheerful reception manager. The room is clean and big. However, although hotel is expensive, there is no coffee maker in the room. There should be at least a coffee maker to get hot drinks in the room in cold nights. Staffs in the restaurant section are cheerful, talkative. you can get everything on time. You dont wait too long to eat.
Pretty standard/good stuff from this hotel. Only bad thing was that I ordered room service one night and it was inordinately expensive and tasted horrible :X
Wonderful experience. Small hotel. Great staff. No fitness center but they use one 5 minutes away another property. Ill stay there next time without reservation.
Experience was very positive. Interestingly enough, the hotel boiler broke down and there was no hot water which caused many guests to complain. The staff was responsive, and very apologetic. While there was really nothing they could do the attitude of the staff really helped! I was really impressed!
This hotel is in a convenient part of DC but my room had several plumbing problems. The toilet bowl was badly cracked and was leaking water on the floor. In addition, the toilet handle was broken and when flushed water ran and ran. Finally, shower and tap water was not hot, just lukewarm. The room had some pretty unimportant things in it like a yoga mat, but did not have a coffee maker, which I did not discover until I got up at 5:00 AM and had no coffee. This hotel needs to have better maintenance and amenities to be worth the price.
Loved the room and the boutique feel of the hotel.
Very happy with the hotel. Newly renovated. Clean. Convenient to public transportation. Walking distance to almost every attractions. It will be even more perfect if the hotel parking fee is less expensive.
This hotel was as advertised. Nice, clean, convenient. But one of the nice surprises was how nice and staff was. Super friendly and very helpful. It's really nice when there is a live voice on the other side of that early morning wake up call! And the location is superb!!
The Madera is a perfectly located, very comfortable hotel near Dupont Circle. I always try to stay there when visiting DC.
I booked this hotel based on the reviews on Orbiz.com and found it was rated a 4 star. We checked in after driving in from New York at approx midnight. We were poorly greeted by reception i could not understand what the front desk lady was saying because she kept covering her mouth when she spoke to us a party of 8. With that we were going to be charged valet for 2 cars because there were not anymore parking options. We had luggage for 8 and kept waiting for the porter then finally had to carry our own bags upstairs, which was a total hassle. We have stayed at kimpton hotels before and the treatment was far superior. we found this kimpton was what seemed like a apartment conversion, our reservation was messed up 2 rooms were not given balconies, and the front desk did not seem in anyway helpful other then telling up "our reservation did not include it" also we were supposed to have wifi included in our stay and again was told "it is not included" forwarding to the next morning we woke up to a jack hammer on the front street at 7am then afar a shower my parents & aunt with uncle were staying in room 409 - 408 and came knocking at my door telling me that there is a dumpster at their back window, also the supposed valet parking paid for parking the vehicles at the back of the hotel which can be seen past the dumpster. After this we check out the same day and moved into a proper 4 star hotel closer to the white house. I would NOT recommend staying in the hotel ever
