We had a great stay. The design of our room was fun and romantic. The shower was of a spiral design, made with frosted glass with a rain shower head and was viewable from the room. You could every so slightly make out the silhouette of the person showering while in bedroom. Besides the interesting design, our room was clean, roomy, and chic. The staff was very courtesy and room service was pretty good.

Fairly quiet neighborhood (Logan Circle) but walking distance to the Mall, White House, etc. Great staff; building is old and elevators/lobby are cramped, but the room was nice and they used the space well.

Needs to be more storage area in bedroom. Bathroom needs towel bars. Poor experience in dining room for breakfast

I recently had a 3 night stay in this hotel. To be fair, there were some positive things about this hotel - the staff was friendly and helpful and the decor was modern and clean. The WiFi was terrible so hopefully you don't need it for anything important. There are no ice machines so that's a little inconvenient. The rooms and bed are comfortable but the modern bathroom design is odd in that you cannot turn on the bathroom light without illuminating the entire bedroom. The last and most significant reason why I cannot rate this hotel highly is that they have a hidden "destination charge" outside of their advertised rate that amounts to an additional $22.90 per day. I was not notified of this when I checked in. I'm not sure what it's for or what I received for it, if anything. I do not appreciate hidden charges (of questionable value) that get added to my bill after I check out.

Pros: Very clean comfortable room. Staff very nice/friendly Cons: -Price -Room not ready until almost 6pm -Pool is TINY, like an oversized jacuzzi kind of small. Also basically it's inside a rooftop resturaunt. -Elevators are used by hotel staff to run linens and stuff up and down using a service key. Took me 15 mins several times to get an elevator because of it. -Charges $48 to park your car in THEIR lot for guests.

The Donovan is a great location and a very clean space to stay in DC. The staff are wonderful, accommodating, and professional. The rooms are bright and comfortable. The views include vibrant (but not overly loud) city streets. Convenient to the White House, China town, and Dupont Circle. The deck side pool is very nice although not that big and the walk up appeal would be improved by more potted plants and greenery.

two things. first, a second chair in the room would have been nice. Our room was 402. Also, I told the desk about the carpet tack strip at the bathroom threshold that had points slightly sticking up. They weren't noticeable by looking there but they sure were when barefooted and stepping on them. They weren't corrected at the time we were there which could be understandable but we were never even told if anyone had checked on it. A follow up at the time should have been done.

We stayed here on a theatre night. The staff was very welcoming and warm. We were shown to our room, not the one we had booked, but a simple double. I'd booked the executive double with the cocoon shower thinking my 17 yr old would get a kick out of it. They remedied this while we enjoyed cocktails at the pool. After a few drinks enjoying a wonderful view our stuff was moved into the new room. The cocoon shower was worth the wait, very unique. The location of the hotel was perfect. Convenient to the metro and many area dining spots.

The hotel was good for the amount we paid. The only thing was that the shower in the room broke and we called down to the front desk to let them know the shower would not turn off. they said they would send somebody up, a couple hours passed and still nobody. We called down again and told them the shower was still running and would not turn off. I guess we had called them in the middle of a change in shift and the person we spoke with did not actually inform anyone. The room was so humid, worse than a jungle. They finally moved us since nobody was available to fix the shower until the next morning.

Very nice hotel. Modern furnishing, great location.

From the moment we pulled up we knew the staff would be great - opened the car door, got the luggage from the back of the car and walked it to the lobby for us. We were overcharged for parking, I emailed and they issued a credit. Great location! Would stay again

The room was very spacious and comfortable. However, the staff was not very helpful. I asked for a cup of tea to be taken to my room and I was told that the kitchen was closed but I could go buy a tea bag at CVS and they would bring up something for me to heat it up. It wasn't even midnight yet!

From the moment you arrive at the hotel the disappointment begins. The valet and bell staff are the absolute worst, they were very unattentive and unprofessional. The lobby is small and unimpressive. This place feels like about a 3 star hotel. It's a renovated holiday inn. You have much better options in the immediate DC area.

GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, GOOD LOCATION, NICE STAFF, WOULD STAY AGAIN

Great place to stay. Good food and service. Clean rooms.

Couldn't ask for a better boutique hotel in the middle of DC. Easily accessible and perfectly located for access to the best restaurants and bars.

Don't miss it! Close to everything, beautiful rooms, very good sushi restaurant downstairs and very friendly and helpful staff. For the money, I won't stay anywhere else in DC.

Bathroom sink was a bit clogged, shower drapes didn't keep the water in, but room itself was overall decent. The hotel staff was the best part of our stay at the Donovan House.

Stay was completely uneventful, the hotel offers some style, good value, and great location.

The rooftop pool is a great plus (but it closes at Labor Day even though it is still hot in DC through September). The staff were very friendly and the happy hour wine mixer is a nice touch.
