Hotel RL Washington DC by Red Lion

I've stayed in several hotels in this area when in DC on business, and Hotel RL is probably my favorite. My room was huge and very modern (except for the shower, fridge and microwave that could use some updating). My room faced L Street so it was really loud at night. I'm from NYC so it wasn't an issue for me but if you're not used to it, you'll probably need to use the ear plugs (complimentary, provided by the hotel).

Room was huge! Bathroom out dated! Bring your toothpaste! Quiet! Would stay again

Staff were friendly, always available to help. Greeted us everytime we exited or entered the hotel. Location was perfect for us who loved to walk 25 minutes to an attraction, but was a 3-5 min walk to the Metro and situated in a safe areas. Plenty of healthy options for dinning. Room was more than generous with space and having a coffeemaker, sm frig and micro wave in the room provided flexibility for bkft options . Would definitely stay again. Only negative was construction noise in the area during the night. Overall great place to stay.

Hotel was pretty nice. Staff was mostly friendly. My room was amazing when I walked in. Spacious and clean. Had two issues during stay and was not thrilled with how they were handled. First A/C had an auto override that kept kicking on periodically and cutting AC up to 79. I'm extremely hot by nature and walking into a stifling room after walking around DC was not pleasurable. Front desk was baffled by the AC no clue that it was on override. Second issue was the first time I flushed toilet it started running (not overflowing) but the tank continued to refill. I pulled tank cover off nothing obviously wrong I tried to lift the flap and the toilet ball to see if either were just stuck but no fix. Water kept running. Called front desk and their solution was to come up and turn water off. So hope I don't have to flush the toilet more than once or I guess I was expected to turn water on and off each time. Felt like they should have offered to move me to a new room or comped something for all this frustration.

Great place to stay. The price was much lower than I would've expected for a place like this, but I would suspect it to be because the place was under renovation, and the road in front of the place was closed for an entire city block due to massive construction. But that doesn't take away from the fact that the rooms were clean, and more than comfortable. I would consider stay here again.

Hotel is very conveniently located in downtown D.C. Close to metro stations makes it easy to get anywhere you want to go. Staff was very friendly especially our concierge Manny.

It felt fly by night with some easy overlaid amenities to disguise non functioning plumbing, dirt and confusion. At least the staff did not snarl. This place needs to step it up or drop their rates. They are not equal to equivalent priced properties in the area.

Happy to get aways at such a great location, however my partner stated room was hard instead of welcoming.

Good location. Near metro and food. Simple and comfortable hotel. Good value.

The hotel is in a great location but the actual hotel is so not as advertised. First, the lobby had no AC, the decor was sloppy, incomplete, looked like someone just brought in home accents, an ikea bookcase from their house, put it around the reception and called it a day. Then there was a smell to the hotel, it wasn't horrible it just weird and unpleasant. As we went up the tiny, peeling elevator with no AC either, a housekeeper got on with us and was taking a bedspread to be washed and she was dragging it on the floor. I know hotels aren't the cleanest but at least don't let me see that! The room's bathroom was out of the 1990's, peeling, really old and yellow light switches, everything looked old and gross, we didn't touch anything and since it was a one night stay, we did not use the shower, did not look sanitary at all. And the room also had a smell. The wifi was slow, the staff was really nice but the building, the actual room, not that nice. Props to the person who took the room pictures, those came out lovely. We chose to just walk all the monuments and eat out really late so we'd be tired and come back to the hotel and fall asleep as soon as possible to not be conscious of where we had to be.

Hotel is located at very good location. 5 minutes of walk to subway and walking distance to White House. Safe area with food at very late hour. Room is spacious. The service is excellent, we were approached and our luggage was helped by the hotel staff the moment we got off shuttle, even at midnight hour. There is an Asian restaurant on the right street of the hotel, served very authentic Malaysian/Singaporean food.

Great place, newly renovated, reasonable price, walking distance to the White House & Mall. Good restaurants within walking distance. I'd stay here again.

We stayed at the Quincy for 4 days in July. It is a great location, a 10 minute walk to the White House and 2 blocks from the Metro. The neighborhood was great, tons of dining and shopping options, although we didn't eat at either restaurant next to the hotel. The staff was super friendly and we appreciated the water bottles in our room, DC in July is hot! They also let us check in 2 hours early. The rooms are spacious, but a little worn. There were chips in the night stands, marks on the wall, and the bathroom had some water marks. However, everything was clean. Like other reviewers, we did experience the dumpster noise. It was loud, but over quickly. We were able to go back to sleep, and it wasn't really a huge problem, just something to be aware of, especially if you're bringing younger kids. For the price and location, you can't beat this hotel, even with the flaws. We'd stay here again.

We stayed here as a last minute reservation, but were treated as old friends. It was our first time here and we would definitely consider using this hotel in the future. The food was definitely amazing.

The staff was amazing! Super friendly and helpful. When I forgot some amenities, the staff immediately provide assistance. In addition, they were super helpful with advice traveling around DC! I would come back.

We had a great stay here. We got in early off a red eye and they let us check in early to take a nap. The room was nice and large. The staff was very friendly and helpful, so I would go back again.

We had a very positive experience at this hotel, and I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The room was large and was comfortable. We loved how they had ice cold water and oranges in the lobby, and I also appreciated having a Keurig, fridge, and microwave in the room. The staff members were very welcoming and we felt valued as guests. Only a few minor issues came up. On Wednesday night, I was kept awake from 4:30-5:30 AM by garbage trucks. I heard a loud boom every few seconds. When I told the person at the front desk about it, he offered to change my room but I accepted ear plugs instead. The other 3 nights of my trip were much more quiet. Another weird thing happened. I used a water glass and my lipstick got on the rim. After room service came, I noticed that the same glass with the lipstick smear was wiped slightly but still there and was placed upsidedown, as if it were a fresh glass. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. It was easy to navigate the area. Bring comfortable walking shoes and try out the Metro subway system. There are many great restaurants nearby.

Enjoyed every part of this hotel from the greeting when I arrived & the helping out of tours around Washington to the room condition. I cannot complain about this hotel....

I had a great stay. It was a great value for the price, and a perfect location.

I was greeted with a glass of sangria when I checked in: yum. The staff was super friendly during my entire stay. My room was big and my kitchen had good coffee to brew. The only downside of staying here is that it's above Recessions, the neighborhood's utmost dive bar. It was really loud every night until about midnight, even during the week. With my fan on high, a white noise app on my phone up to max volume, and ear plugs, I was able to block it all out. I'm not sure I'll stay here again, solely because of the noise.

Thank for the review, all of your information is great help to us. We are deeply sorry for the air conditioning situation, front desk should've been fully aware on how to fix the thermostats in rooms. As for the toilet incident, proper protocol for our hotel is to automatically move a guest if there is a issue with the room but we were sold out for that particular day.
