Decided to have a last minute get away a few weeks ago, and we are so happy we did. On exiting the car we were greeted by Phil who was awaiting our arrival, as we had arrived late into the evening. He was very amicable and made us feel at home straight away. We were shown to our room, which had a lovely king size (may even have been super king!) bed in it. For once my boyfriend (who is 6ft 4) could actually fit on the bed and not have his feet hanging off the end! Breakfast was lovely, with a good variety of options. Iva, the receptionist on throughout our stay, could not have been more friendly and helpful. As we are not from the area, we asked her how to get to a local attraction. Within seconds she was suggesting all the alternative ways to get there via different transport links. Our toilet seat was broken on arrival as well, which we reported to Iva, yet within the half an hour it took for me to go and have a massage and then come back, it had been fixed! Iva also asked us if we were there for a special occasion to which we replied it was our anniversary. When we came back from our day out we found a bottle of bubbly in the room with a card that wished us a happy anniversary from the staff at Wroxall... Wow! What service! No job seemed too big, and it was all handled with a smile. For the two days we were there we were treated incredibly well by the staff, and we didn't want to leave. But unfortunately we had to get back to reality...
We booked a spa weekend here as a group of friends all meeting up from different parts of the country. We received a phone call the night before telling us that we couldn't have our spa treatment because the beautician wasn't going to be there. We decided to still go and use the facilities. When we got to the pool we discovered that the sauna was out of order, the jacuzzi was cold, the steam room wasn't working properly and the pool was so cold that you couldn't stay in for longer than a few minutes!! The'gym' consisted of a rusted step machine, a bike that made really weird noises, a running machine with no electric cable and an antique wooden rowing machine. Even the TV nearby didn't work! Our room was tiny and looked like it had been furnished from a charity shop. Very disappointed that our longed for girls weekend away was spoilt by these major issues.
Stayed here for two days after our wedding. Staff were brilliant and couldn’t be more helpful. We had the romantic room which lived up to it’s name. Food was excellent though wine list a bit limited during our stay. Only a minor quibble though as Hotel and grounds were lovely.
We were given a Groupon voucher by our parents for our silver wedding, yet again when trying to book room with a voucher from Groupon amazingly the the rooms are fully booked and would have to pay extra for a suite(even thought there were 4 of the same rooms I could have booked online !!) we had to book a Friday for the following week. Whilst the Staff were lovely and the food was very nice the grounds were unkempt and even though the house is old it was scruffy . After being given two key cards for the room we made our way to the room only to find the did not work and had to return to reception to get them reprogrammed. Big mistake as on entering the room we were greeted with a room with mismatched furniture dirty floors that had not been hoovered, cobwebs, a bin in the bathroom with dirty earbuds etc in and pictures hung uneven covered in thick dust and the sofa was stained. The phone was really grubby as were the light switches, the pictures attached do not do them justice. We did stay but I did not fancy the shower or bath as they were dirty and bath panel was broken and sealant missing. We can not believe that anyone from management have been in room 59 in many years ! Like I said the staff were friendly and the guitarist who played though evening dinner was superb. We did laugh on the way as someone had quite rightly marker penned a star off of the sign !
A fantastic historic building. Christopher Wren once lived here. But it is NOT a spa We’d bought a groupon voucher and were very disappointed. Thank goodness the weather was decent enough to be able to sit outside. There were only 6 loungers around the VERY small pool and it was roasting hot in there! The sauna was out of order. The hot tub was Luke warm. The steam room took 20 mins to warm up before you could use it The female changing room was a corridor with 3 chairs The hotel ground were fabulous around by the wedding marquee but definitely in need of some TLC elsewhere The lakes they described were impossible to get to and the pile of pungent rubbish by the laboratory was disgusting However the evening meal so fabulous. So well done chef Would I go again? In a word -No!
Myself and my husband had a wonderful weekend stay in Wroxall Abbey over the Aug bank holiday and we loved it! The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is absolutely lovely and the food devine! Our room was a small suite in the mansion, which was quite quirky, but spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable The windows were like those litte castle slits and the whole place was a bit like living in Hogwarts! Brilliant! We booked dinner in the restaurant on Friday and it was so delicious, we had dinner again on Saturday. The ham hock terrine, salmon and duck confit were to die for! Desserts looked lovely but we were too full both nights! Breakfast lovely too! There is a very large, sunny patio area with a superb view that we enjoyed both afternoons with a drink and star gazed after dinner. We went for a lovely 5 mile walk while were there and used the pool and jacuzzi in the spa, which were lovely. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful place.
...hmm where to start... Location is great for relaxing weekend, rooms dated but clean. Spa - doesn't exist, swimming pool is dated and could do with refurb, steam room stinks of mold, sauna out of order. Jacuzzi, please clean it as it looks it wasn't cleaned since 1300! Gym, doesn't exist, treadmill, bike, rower. Bar was nice, different. Restaurant could do with refurb and new furniture, tables etc. Food was very good thou... Breakfast ok, good choice but nothing to wow about. Used tennis courts and were ok. We had a nice break overall, relaxing set up in quiet spot. I hope new owner will move things forward not only for weddings... great place but need attention. Staff very friendly, keep it that way. We may go back in few years time to see if improved :)
Bought a deal on groupon and not cheap for £200 and thought I won a lottery with the beautiful hotel ( it was on the photo) and spa and even dinner ! We came in the middle of the week to be fair, but didn’t expect that one staff will be receptionist / bartender/ waitress ... no WiFi in the room! Yep! 2019 and no WiFi AT ALL! I have been told to catch it on reception and WiFi will follow me in the room... well it didn’t! When I complaint , I have been told ‘nothing can be done’. Restaurant experience... oh I am not sure I want to start describing... one staff who was sitting people , bringing water and bread and if you wanted something extra... well you wait until it’s your turn to be served ... not worth the money... NO customer service and 4 star??? Really???? May be 30 years ago it was 4* hotel but not now!
Booked a stay on 7 Sept for myself and husband, it was his birthday and I liked the look of the hotel/location/spa and it’s locality to Stratford-Upon-Avon. Upon arrival that afternoon we asked where the bar was at check-in, we were told that we could not use the bar or spa facilities due to a wedding taking place and they had paid £20k and would not like us using the bar!!!!!!!!!!!! When I booked I was told that a wedding was taking place that weekend - full stop!! It was not explained that we could not use the facilities!! We were then told we were not staying in the main hotel but in a coach house room - not wanting to spoil this weekend we made our way to the coach house. My god the room was as dismal as dishwater! My husband said - that’s it we are not staying - so we informed the staff - who offered another coach house room - awful!!! We declined. So thank you Wroxall Abbey for making my husband’s birthday special! Totally unacceptable and unprofessional way to treat guests - the ones who are not spending 20k that is!!
Stayed here bank holiday weekend with my partner, what a wonderful place, was made to feel very welcome, the evening dinner was absolutely lovely, wasn't rushed at all, the breakfast was good to, all staff very helpful, couldn't do enough for you to make your stay pleasant, would go back again
