Great Family Summer Vacay

Sunset Cottage was wonderful for our family getaway over the 4th of July. The cottage is clean, well-stocked, and has a wonderful view of the lake. The inclusion of the pontoon makes this rental perfect! The owners are responsive and make your stay easy. Hope to be back again sometime!

In town due to death of father

My father loved the water and fishing so I chose to stay somewhere that would honor his life. The place was perfect and the host was very accommodating. He even allowed us to have a very small service for my father next to the water. I highly recommend this vrbo.

Lake getaway for bride to be

Our bride to be wanted to have a chill weekend getaway at a lake for her bachelorette and this was perfect! We took the boat out on the water and had a fabulous time. We were happy to beat the heat with the great air conditioning afterwards, and then we made a fire at night and made smores. Emerson was very responsive when we needed anything and we would highly recommend staying here!

Bach party!

We had an awesome weekend at the sunset cottage for my sisters bachelorette party. We swam in little chapman, hung out at the sand bar, went for morning coffee boat rides, and had ourselves a grand fire to end the weekend. The house was very clean, plenty room for everyone, and the porch was great for all of us to visit. Emerson was a great host, next door if you need anything.

Great outdoor space and supplies.

Inside was very clean and well organized. One suggestion: install an "adult" toilet. The current one is very small and low to the ground. Also, check for wasps nesting in the outdoor umbrella before guests arrive. Please!

Nice location, great property, but unable to stay due to horrible weather

The property was great! LOVED the location. Unfortunately, after only 3 hours a tornado came through and ruined some of the property, took out the power, damaged the pontoon, and destroyed other properties around as well. We had to turn around and go home, sadly, but the owner was very helpful with getting our money refunded. We WILL be renting this property again next year and will have another update then. Thank you to the owner for everything!

Nice lake and great time had by all!

We had a wonderful time at the lake. Emerson was fantastic at communicating and he was available anytime we needed him. We were out on the lake before a storm, so with the waves and the wind, the boat kept moving away from the dock as we tried to bring it in. Emerson and his wife were johnny on the spot with a rope to help pull us toward the dock. The neighbors around us were kind and friendly. We enjoyed our time with our family and would recommend this place to anyone.

Definitely was easy to swim, fish and make memories here!

We had a short (3-night) but perfect mid-week stay at this new rental. The owners were so pleasant and really provided everything one could want for a great vacation. At the time that we reserved, there were very few reviews, and we had never been to this lake, so one has to rely on the listing. The pics are spot-on, though impossible to also capture the soaring trees/shade, fresh breezes, panoramic view, sun-warmed stones leading from the stairs to the deck or glittering lake in late afternoon. The description is pretty darn accurate, too, though not conveying the number of beautiful new lawn chairs (so many choices), shed full of firewood/kindling, numerous life vests, plentiful towels, etc. A few things to note: Water shoes may be helpful (lake bottom is sandy/rocky), the 3 stairs from seawall to water are slick (we were warned), and there is no dishwasher (just in case you assumed). As one reviewer pointed out, there are about 20 steps from deck to grass, so may be necessary for some to consider. They are solid concrete, lit at night, with two sturdy railings. If boating, one thing that may help is to know the "no wake" hours - would confirm, but something like 45 mins. before sunset to sunrise. Also, entrance to Little Chapman was not self-explanatory or marked that we saw, but between lily pads at about 10 o'clock from the rental (please fact-check this - owner or any neighbor could confirm). We rented a speedboat and brought two screw anchors, which worked like a charm and didn't need to "settle", though there is a spot with eye hooks in the channel. The lake was never crowded. And since a speedboat, we fished mainly off the seawall at dusk and hooked a few bluegills, perch and one picture-worthy bass with bobbers/nightcrawlers. And have to mention, the house is quite tidy and well-appointed, though we truly only used it to sleep and to cook (bringing food out to deck for meals with a great view) -- The outside was too big a draw to want to be inside! We also found the location to be close to town and easy to find at night. We'd be remiss in not thanking you again, Emerson and Natalie, for a truly fantastic stay!

Perfect Lakefront Getaway

Our family of 7, including children ages 5-17, had a wonderful week at Sunset Cottage! There were many outdoor activities to keep us entertained (paddle boat, paddle board, fishing, swimming, boating & tubing) during the day. We enjoyed the evenings grilling and playing in the yard. The ease of the boat rental and the attentiveness to make sure we had a full tank of gas each day allowed us to truly relax & focus on our family! We hope to visit again!

Lovely views at sunset cottage

We had a lovely fall stay at the sunset cottage. The views from the deck are gorgeous. The cottage is sparkling clean and has all the amenitites to make your stay comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is well stocked with more equipment than any rental I've been to, which is great. The pontoon boat was a great way to get out on the water in mid October, and the lake is beautiful. We also had fun playing corn hole and other games. Emerson is a gracious host and willing to assist in any way to make your stay more comfortable. The cottage is so well decorated and makes you feel right at home. We would recommend it to anyone...
