The hotel is in a stunning location with abundant birdlife. There are thousands of pelicans. The location is a very quite area even though it has bars and a waterfront near by. I was happy with my room. The bed was big and comfy and had good rest. I spent 4 nights and I must say the service from hotel staff was good. The only black dot in my stay was the hotel restaurant. Dinner was not inspiring, we used to drag ourselves to dinner. Meat was hard (may be Namibian meat is hard) and service was not up to scratch. In some nights it will just be the 3 of us for almost 3 hours. The restaurant itself is very beautiful but it deserted and need to work on quality of food and service. As for breakfast it was not bad as I usually have cereal for breakfast. On the last day I couldn't as the strawberry yoghurt was sower which means it must have been same one that has probably survived from a few days back.
I haven’t stayed in such a relaxing hotel in years. The staff were fantastically helpful in any request. Food was great and always served promptly. Being right on the waters edge ideal for evening walks. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Walvis Bay
Stayed for one night at the hotel, check in and reception was very good and very friendly, Rooms are fairly basic, TV in the room was hardly working with most channels showing more "snow" than pictures, The bathrooms are very old and in need of an update, but everything worked fine. After work went to the bar for a drink at about 18h00, bar was closed with not a soul in sight, so walked over the road to the Yacht Club and had drinks and great dinner there instead. Breakfast was also average but the view over the lagoon from the breakfast rom is stunning!
After a long drive from Etosha, I found this place to be a wonderful Oasis. The detour across the entire hotel was beautiful. I found the entire place to be charming. The room was well equipped, the WiFi was functional, parking is complimentary. I received a wonderful glass of red wine and cheese platter as Marriott Platinum. We had an excellent dinner next door at Rojo within the Yacht Club. The breakfast was varied and I found the staff to be very friendly. I loved the little walkway to the restaurant: so lush!! 5/5 in my book for a small, boutique property.
Lovely hotel on the beach...lovely,breath taking views on the ocean!!The hotel is safe and clean!! Service is very good!!Lovely view of the sunset as well as strolls along the beach is a must!!Food at the hotel is lovely!!
We booked four nights here to be in this area for birds and other wildlife near the dunes using Marriott points. The room (406) was on the upper right side and had a nice view of the bay where we could see pelicans from the outdoor patio. Air conditioning, wifi and meals were all better than expected after reading other reviews. Yes, the hotel is dated since it opened in 2003 but that didn't affect our stay. Re-tiling the bathroom and providing modern and non-leaking faucets would be a big improvement. We only ate breakfast here but it was very good all four mornings. There is an egg stations for scrambled, fried or omelettes plus at least 4-5 different meats, lots of bread choices, potatoes, vegetables, baked beans, fruit, yogurt, four different juices, etc. Nothing to complain about here. The area felt safe and there was always security present in the parking lot and parking is free. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.
The hotel is well located. It faces the Walvis Bay, a stop-over for flamingoes, pelicans and other birds, and is within walking distance to a few restaurants. This hotel is quite dated, but our room was large and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even lent us a vacuum cleaner to remove sand from my camera as its lenses got stuck after we went quid biking and sandboarding on the dunes.
Just arrived after long drive from Etoshsa. What a disappointment after our last stay and were here for 6 nights! Very poor standard! Hope it improves. Just visited restaurant as we were very hungry!!! Not good but as we were sooo hungry ate what must be our worst meal in Africa/SA ..this is our third time visiting SA. There is no-one else in the restaurant.. wonder why? They need to get their act together ad they have GREAT competition. Next door!!! New Management of the whole hotel maybe to make some improvements What a shame!
We arrived here after a 2,200-km arduous road trip from Cape Town, so it was good to be back in civilisation and the hotel was good. Walvis Bay is probably best known as the place where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter was born, giving the place a coolness it doesn't really deserve. In plain language, this should be a one-star review. We had to change rooms because of the smell emanating from somewhere, then there was a day-long IT breakdown meaning rooms could only be accessed by reception's master key. However, even if the breakfast was bland, this was still an interesting place, right on the sea and with great dawn/sunset communions with the local pelican. I would be flabbergasted if Brangelina stayed here when giving birth to their daughter, but worth it just for the sheer tackiness of it all.
A quaint quality hotel for a quaint town! Sitting right on the water's edge this hotel soothing blue undertones immediately puts one at ease. Rooms have a wonderful view of the sea and are well planned. No complaints - I do wish they would provide bathrobes and in door slippers thou as the hotel is situated on the beach. Breakfast was adequate, not lavish, but no complaints as they had a good selection nonetheless. Bathrooms are a tad small and could do with some up dating in the near future. I missed out on taking pictures of the room as we were blown away with the number of pelicans and birds. Rest assured, a very good stay!
