Our room was better than expected. It had many extra of the hotel and the comfort of home. The rooms as booked by a family member who provided the opportunity to book rooms on nearby Riverdale Property. So to book the room did require speaking with desk operator and was based on availability. It was a very good experience and worth the visit. The staff was very helpful and supportive.
Very nice modern clean facility with a moderate price. I took advantage of the AAA and AARP discount. Great parking, friendly check in, free breakfast. Very good restaurant next door. Very pleasant stay.
Booked 2 rooms for the Duplin Murder Mystery and wine tasting. We were 3rd floor suites across from one another. The staff were all very kind. The hotel was nice but lots and lots of stains on the carpet. We joked about all the wine stains in front of each of the guest doors from spills. The carpet needs a good scrubbing. The accommodations were comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner: there were curly hits on the floor under the sink and on the side of the commode. Breakfast was good and plentiful with lots of selections for everyone.
Our room was very clean and hotel appearance and cleanliness was exceptional. Would definitely recommend. Staff very friendly. Lots of options for breakfast. Enjoyed our stay. Very close to Duplin Winery.
With many extended family members in the Pender County area, we make frequent trips to this part of North Carolina. We are very glad that the Holiday Inn Express is there in Wallace. There are not any other hotels of similar ilk within the area. While a few small, family-owned motels exist, they do not offer the same service and comfort as this Holiday Inn Express. Of course, we are not talking 5-star luxury, but everything is clean and well-maintained, the staff members are kind, and things seem to run just fine. While I can appreciate some reviewers' remarks regarding the price point, I also have to say that, for those of us who traveled in the area prior to this property's arrival, we are very glad that it is now there.
Being from this town, and here for a reunion, I was happy to have somewhere so convenient to stay. However, I think they take advantage of the fact that it is really the only hotel in town to charge way too much. It doesn't even have a pool or hot tub, and for $170 per night after taxes etc., I would expect at least that. We don't even pay that much for a night in downtown Raleigh for a nice room close to things to do and with more amenities. The lady who checked us in was semi-friendly; she could have pretended to be more excited to see us. It is nice that it is right off the interstate and walking distance to a nice restaurant but again for a hefty price.
Easy parking and friendly check-in. Nicely sized room was clean and bed was comfortable. Common room amenities (frig, microwave, keurig). We had room on the first floor and were not bothered by any outside noises. Complementary breakfast and on-site coin laundry is very convenient.
For not having a pool, hot tub or sauna, I thought this hotel was over priced. We booked a room with zacuzzi tub, which we did not get upon arrival. We will likely go elsewhere when we are in the area next time.
The facility is generally clean, but there is a problem with mold in the ventilation due to humidity, especially on the third floor (top floor). Management first tried to say there was not a problem with mold and smells in the rooms on the third floor, then the staff members told us there was, and their way of addressing it was to come to the rooms and spray air freshener into the heating/AC unit. Food at the breakfast was fair.
With several of our golf group playing a round of golf on way to Myrtle Beach, we found this location, about 1 1/2 away, as a good stopping point, being just off the main road. Rooms are fine but the real appeal is walking to the Mad Boar restaurant next door for a nice evening out (separate review on that). For basic stopover, hotel was fine but if you want to do anything extra, like business office or workout area, it was disappointing. Asked if they had a printer - yes but it doesn't work. Asked if they knew where TV remote control was for gym - she had no idea. Then found water cooler and wet wipe dispensers both empty in gym. Little things but disappointing. Was very pleased to find breakfast next day - both food and staff - much more pleasant. Still an okay place, but it looks like another facility being built nearby so they should probably focus on getting even the little things better.
