This is a super hotel. Staff is the best. They are professional, helpful, and accomodating. Exceptional location. Very close to main sights and pedestrian areas. A la carte breakfast is a big plus. Not the crowded buffets you get in some hotels. The rooms are spacious and the area is quiet. We had the Victor Hugo - (we got in early and so were very happy they had a room ready for us) - which is on the front of the hotel and just past the front desk. Not a problem. We didn't care for the sheet situation (as mentioned by some others) but it is a minor complaint compared to the pluses of this hotel. Happily and heartily recommend.
The Shakespeare is a charming hotel with a great location, most friendly/helpful staff and furnishings which add character. The lounge area, with a beautiful wooden bar, is a wonderful setting for the 'to order' breakfast. Our room and bath were both large and well appointed with comfortable chairs, a table and writing desk. The area around hotel is very quiet. While there are many positives, there are some serious shortcomings one would not expect in a four star property: 1) The bed itself was the worst experienced during three weeks in Russia and the Baltics. The king mattress was badly worn with a sinkhole where one sleeps. In addition the bottom sheet does not fit under the worn mattress and as a result we woke with faces on bare mattress. In addition the top comforter is 10 cm too narrow on both sides, before one attempts to cover oneself. Be prepared to sleep closely together in middle of bed since bedding was not made for a king sized bed. 2) The lighting is weak making it a challenge to read once the sun sets. 3) While there are blinds on the window they do nothing to block out the 0430 Summer sunrise so you may rise with the roosters. 4) While our room had air conditioning it barely cooled room, even though outdoor temp never exceeded 24 degrees.
Shakespeare hotel has a beautiful decor and is idyllically located in the old town. I and my sisters took one room each. The rooms were all individually designed. I got a bubble bath, my middle sister got a fantastic oil painting above the bed. My youngest sister got an extra-large room with beautiful furniture. The staff was very polite and professional. The breakfast in the beautiful dining room was delicious. I stayed at Shakespeare Hotel for the second time and will return.
Chance upon Hotel Shakespeare and you will be able to experience hospitality which is set apart by interweaving of the love of literature with modern amenities and warm service. I stayed in the Aristotle room while my parents stayed in the Mark Twain room. Both the rooms were a delight to behold for the book-lover in me as they were stocked with great editions. The staff was exceptionally helpful and gave me precise directions in order to explore and make the most of my short stay in Vilnius. The hotel is well-placed to explore Literatu street, the church of St Anne, and the Church of St Francis and St Bernard. Since I had to catch an early morning flight to Prague, the staff also packed a simple and filling breakfast of sandwiches, apples, and yogurt. I look forward to a second trip here in order to explore more!
Wonderful location, fast and free Wifi, friendly staff, free and good breakfast, wonderful ambiance, big and clean rooms! Overall, everything was wonderful. The only issue that would give me pause to stay here again are the beds. The sleep quality is not good. They do not have a fitted sheet on the bed, and if you move at all, the sheet exposes the bare mattress (ew!!) Please get fitted sheets and I will be back!
Five days and four nights in SHAKESPEARE hotel were wonderful.I was so impressed of special and perfect interior of this small hotel. You will see it on my pictures. Hotel is located near Pilies street, Catholic Church of St. Anna, and near Cathedral Square. So all interesting places are very close for walking 🚶 The breakfast is a la carte and very tasty and rich. I should say big thanks to staff for their hospitality. SHAKESPEARE is wonderful hotel, believe me!
We went to the restaurant based on a recommendation and wås pleasently surprized. The weather was nice and sunny so we sat down on the terrace with a view to a narrow street and the roofs of the houses next to the hotel. We had two starters, a bottle of pinot noir and salads. The food was very tasty and looked nice when served. The wine was excellent and we enjoyed it for hours. The staff was attentive and brought us wollen blankets in the evening when it was a bit chilly. Highly recommended!
Lovely boutique hotel tucked away on a side street so very quiet. Stayed 3 nights in Goethe room which is small but cozy. Staff all friendly and very helpful. Breakfasts are off the menu and the omelets are light and fluffy and the tasty Lithuanian roasted eggs must be tried. Would not stay anywhere else in Vilnius.
Charming boutique hotel tucked away in a back street of the old town down a quiet dead end. Rooms all have names rather than numbers and l was lucky enough to be in Churchill. Spacious. Comfortable bed. Old world charm. Nice bathroom with shower (only) . Good breakfast with excellent breakfast including a full English one but also more unconventional choices. Charming service with attentive service. Recommended.
This hotel is in a perfect location for the main attractions in the old town. The reception staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble and they helped make our holiday very special. Breakfast is very good and all freshly cooked with plenty of choices. Our room and bathroom were both big and very comfortable. Big fluffy dressing gowns were included. I would recommend this stylish hotel strongly.
