This is our 3rd time in this hotel . Hotel is charming nice and individual specially named rooms very nice concept , With nice update and decoration and good maintaining would be one of the best place to stay in Vilnius ,right next to the city centre and near to old town uzupao uzupis respublica , Nice place to stay, if you are not happy about anything ask the hotel management for help, I am sure they will make sure all customers are happy ,
As you can see from the photos on Tripadvisor, Shakespeare Hotel abounds with class and charm. Add to that the attentive and helpful staff, the delightful restaurant with great breakfast options, and convenient location, and you won't find a better place to stay in Vilnius. Two of us occupied the Charles Dickens Room, and the other two had the Elizabethan Room (with a jacuzzi tub). Daniel at the front desk was extremely courteous and helpful.
Tucked away in a quiet side street in the old town this hotel is interesting and comfy. Easy to walk to all main sites from here and lots of restaurants and shops close by. Good service and a la carte breakfast unusual now but food very well prepared and you can choose more than 1 item from the menu. Overall good service and would stay again.
I chose this hotel when travelling to Vilnius for a scientific conference this October, and since I am an English philologist, it seemed to be fun to be accommodated in an English-styled hotel. I found the hotel be thematically exciting - the rooms are named after famous English writers and poets rather than numbered, the interior is very English, including the tea/coffee making set in each room, and the English style bar serving breakfast a la carte was also very nice. You could imagine Oscar Wilde or Sherlock Holmes visiting this place for a quiet beer or whiskey, or two.:) The location of the hotel is also perfect - right in the middle of the Old town and literally minutes from University. The room was clean and warm. It was pleasant to have free mineral water and fruit as I arrived. The bed was comfortable and large for a single traveler. The bathroom was clean; however, the shampoo/shower gel bottle at the shower wall was so hard to squeeze that it came loose on the first evening I used it, and it was not replaced in the following day either, so that made washing uncomfortable. The bar and restaurant are open till midnight which is very convenient if you arrive late, as I did, and are hungry, as I was. The serving lady on the first night was very kind, too, and even suggested I have a dessert after my meal since the kitchen is about to end their work, but just in case. The morning after was very good, too, since the breakfast a la carte was offered, it was plentiful and you could choose from several tasty options. Unfortunately, the good impression was spoiled on the second morning by a very rude waitress who took the order and after it was delivered took no notice of me whatsoever. I was trying to attract her attention for several minutes in order to ask for a second cup of coffee, which, as far as I understood, was allowed, since I saw other people ordering seconds too, but unfortunately I received zero attention until I started to rise from my chair and wave, which is something I don't think should be done in an appropriate hotel. Also afterwards the lady never came to my table to refill the bread basket or to ask of I would like something else, as the previous two ladies had done. I am very sorry that this young lady spoiled the overall perfect impression I had of the hotel, and I hope that the hotel management will in the future educate their staff more carefully.
Booked similar rooms for me and my business partner and got completely different kind of rooms. Really poor and not professional costumer service at the reception of the hotel. Really complicated people to say the least. They blamed luck for us having totally diferent rooms. Very careful with room Aristotle. It's awful. You have a wood pilar next to the extra small bed. You just can't move in the bathroom, too small. Breakfast is good and breakfast people are nice. Being an European country maybe they should try to mimic the Attitude of countries like Spain, France or even Portugal.
This charming and quirky hotel is in historic old town, about 2 blocks from the center. For some unfathomable (to me) someone decided to name the room after writers, a lot of them writers in English. Thru-out the hotel are quips from those writers. Makes you smile. The restaurant is great; breakfast is amazing. Loved it!
First time there and let's admit - perhaps not the last time. As hotel is very interesting starting to visual look inside (style and paintings), finishing with rooms - not numbered, but named (!). Very well equipped rooms. Great bed ensuring strong sleep. Can recommend for romantic feeling as well. There's free car parking in the hotel yard. Still it's old city and narrow roads, narrow entrance in the parking, too. Restaurant on second floor offers food for good quality in the daytime and evening, still I was not happy with breakfast which has been served after request of special menu - it took very long time which was not acceptable during morning hurry. Besides almost no taste of scrambled eggs there. Still good crepes with curd I recommend for everyone.
We stayed at the Shakespeare Hotel for two nights in August. There is much to recommend the hotel, though I think the hotel's TA ratings are a bit inflated. On the positive side, the hotel is in an excellent location -- near numerous restaurants, the cathedral and other important sites, but far enough away to be quiet. There is parking onsite, which is much appreciated. Breakfasts are tasty, and served in the bright and charming dining room/bar. Food service was friendly and eager to please. On the negative side, the rooms are small and a bit run down. The carpets were worn and the bed a bit hard. Our room featured a shower only with modest water pressure, as wells as worn-out towels. There is no lobby or public areas to speak of. Service is friendly and accommodating but sporadic -- the hotel seems a bit understaffed. All in all I would recommend the property, but beware that the TA rating seems a bit high for what you get.
a nice location in the historic old town, good for walking to access restaurants, sightseeings and evening life. the rooms are clean an tidy, and have a charming set up. the hotel offers a very nice breakfast a la carte, well focussed personell, friendly and professional. cozy restaurant.
We spent a long weekend in the hotel and really enjoyed it. Shakespeare Hotel is charmingly old fashioned and the rooms all different (we stayed in Voltaic and Rousseau ). The very delicious breakfast was chosen from ala carte and there were many excellent alternatives. The hotel is in a very good location in the old town but however the street was quiet. We warmly recommend this hotel.
