First time there and let's admit - perhaps not the last time. As hotel is very interesting starting to visual look inside (style and paintings), finishing with rooms - not numbered, but named (!). Very well equipped rooms. Great bed ensuring strong sleep. Can recommend for romantic feeling as well. There's free car parking in the hotel yard. Still it's old city and narrow roads, narrow entrance in the parking, too. Restaurant on second floor offers food for good quality in the daytime and evening, still I was not happy with breakfast which has been served after request of special menu - it took very long time which was not acceptable during morning hurry. Besides almost no taste of scrambled eggs there. Still good crepes with curd I recommend for everyone.
We stayed at the Shakespeare Hotel for two nights in August. There is much to recommend the hotel, though I think the hotel's TA ratings are a bit inflated. On the positive side, the hotel is in an excellent location -- near numerous restaurants, the cathedral and other important sites, but far enough away to be quiet. There is parking onsite, which is much appreciated. Breakfasts are tasty, and served in the bright and charming dining room/bar. Food service was friendly and eager to please. On the negative side, the rooms are small and a bit run down. The carpets were worn and the bed a bit hard. Our room featured a shower only with modest water pressure, as wells as worn-out towels. There is no lobby or public areas to speak of. Service is friendly and accommodating but sporadic -- the hotel seems a bit understaffed. All in all I would recommend the property, but beware that the TA rating seems a bit high for what you get.
a nice location in the historic old town, good for walking to access restaurants, sightseeings and evening life. the rooms are clean an tidy, and have a charming set up. the hotel offers a very nice breakfast a la carte, well focussed personell, friendly and professional. cozy restaurant.
We spent a long weekend in the hotel and really enjoyed it. Shakespeare Hotel is charmingly old fashioned and the rooms all different (we stayed in Voltaic and Rousseau ). The very delicious breakfast was chosen from ala carte and there were many excellent alternatives. The hotel is in a very good location in the old town but however the street was quiet. We warmly recommend this hotel.
We enjoyed this hotel. It was fun and classy! The rooms are comfortable and most of the staff were very helpful. It is located in the old town right next to all the main sights! It has parking which was very convienent.
We have stayed in Vilnius at this hotel for 1 night for a short break while on a roadtrip from Latvia. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is right in the old town am walking distance to everything. We also needed a parking spot and this is free for guests so that is really useful to have. The staff were attentive. The rooms are ok, we stayed in a classic room and the bed was comfy but only negative was the shower water pressure which was really poor. The breakfast was not in a buffet style but proper a la carte so that was great. Good selection too and service. Overall great stay and would recommend for a short city break.
I spent a week here back in spring (when it was still snowing in Vilnius) on a work trip. I would certainly come back for a leisure trip and bring my family - it is a very charming place. The main attraction (especially if you are travelling alone) is the first floor lounge / bar / restaurant / breakfast room. It's a stylish but old-world space which feels like a private London club, where you can enjoy a 3 course meal (with excellent dishes like duck & saffron soup) or just sit with a book and a small glass of one of the dozens of cognac they stock. Breakfast is a la carte, not buffet, and full of lovely dishes efficiently brought out. My room was spacious and characterful. One possible drawback is that a lot of the rooms are on the ground floor, with large windows looking straight out onto the pavement - although the street is a quiet one, it does mean there are parked cars right outside your window, and that you have to keep curtains drawn for any privacy. But a relatively minor inconvenience, given the special character of this place and the extremely helpful staff.
Very friendly staff always ready to assist you and to guide you. They make you feel comfortable without any troubles or worries. Breakfast was very nice and the waiters extremely polite and service oriented. The rooms were clean and well equipped. I would recommend this hotel
This is a very charming hotel in an ideal location. It has charmingly decorated rooms with a literary theme. Each room is named after a different author and reflects something about the time when he/she lived. They are lovely, comfortable and well apppointed. The dining area, where a la carte breakfast is served, is beautiful and the dining room where one can obtain a very good dinner is elegant. The breakfast is great with many choices made to order. The location of the hotel, in the old city, is perfect. It is on a quiet street steps away from the central street in the old town. It is walking distance to just about everywhere. It is also only a few minute taxi ride from the bus station where buses arrive/depart to the airport and other destinations. If you prefer to walk to the station, it is about 25 minutes. The staff is somewhat formal but very helpful. We loved being in this hotel.
Very good breakfast and attentive service from the staff. Disappointed with the room (Oscar Wilde), which was not quite as we expected. It was long and narrow with sloping ceiling and unusable space. Nice bathroom and excellent location. The view ofSt Annes Church from the bedroom window was a delight. The dining rooms and terrace were pretty.
