The staff were really nice & check in & out were equally straight forward & quick. The location of this hotel was great for the Theme Parks. The hotel laid on transport to them as well as La Pineda & Salou. The gentlemen driving is very friendly & helpful. We decided to walk to the parks a couple of times as its approximately 30 mins walk in the glorious sunshine. We had a family suite which was quite roomy. The views from our room were simply stunning. The bathroom was very nice with a sink, large mirror,bath/shower, toilet & bidet. We had a double wardrobe with plenty of shelves & a safe inside. There was also a small kitchen area with the basics if you want to knock up some food. Just a few minutes walk away is a Lidl & Aldi for those wanting to save some pennies. There is a good size outdoor pool with many sun loungers to relax on as well as an indoor pool which is a bit smaller but quite pleasant. We had breakfast each day during our stay & were delighted to see bacon, sausages & scrambled egg as an option, as we were only expecting continental. Ultimately there were many choices for a healthy diet or otherwise. The maids did a great job everyday. There are vending machines with snacks & drinks in the lobby & a lounge/library on the ground floor with a pool table which cost 1 euro to play. The free wifi provided a good service.
We stayed here over half term as a cheap base for visiting Portaventura park with the kids. I have waited to give our review because I have given the hotel ample to time to respond to my complaint but they haven't addressed it successfully. Fundamentally, it's a basic hotel with simple rooms and simple facilities. There's no real finesse with anything here to say it boasts four stars. Breakfast is ok, rooms are generally ok. Pool area is ok - it's very three star really. The main issues are maintenance in the hotel. Read the other reviews too but put bluntly the air conditioning doesn't work in this hotel. We had three rooms (for various reasons) throughout the hotel and air con ranged from non existence to a weak puff out of a very dusty grill. Our main issue however was a broken toilet on our final night which despite several calls and promises for attention was never fixed. Having no maintenance in a hotel is just really poor and no access to a flushing toilet for 14 hours is quite simply not acceptable. Smells grew, constant sound of dripping - yuk! The reception staff were apologetic and knocked a few extras off the bill. My correspondence with the manager was initially acknowledged and I was offered a 2 night stay for free in the hotel. I can't see us returning so I asked whether this might be portable to another hotel in the mercure chain. I have now been ignored completely for several weeks despite polite emails. Mercure complaints have not got back to me. So, in short - a cheap hotel and a 'meh' experience. With hindsight we should have spent a bit more for a better holiday experience.
We stayed at the Mercure for a week in the sun. Check in was swift. The room (not a apartment) was good sized and had most things we needed, including a safe. WiFi was free for 3 devices but patchy in speed. There was tea/coffee making facilities but only decaf coffee! Also, the rooms only provided disposable takeaway style coffee cups. We obtained ceramic mugs with no issue from the restaurant. The pool area was of a very good size. We were never worried about getting a sunbed or bumping into others in the pool. There's also an indoor hydrotherapy spa, but you need swimming cap to use it (Decathlon, around 10 minutes' walk down the road, sell them for as little as 99 cents, otherwise the hotel sells them for €3). The air-conditioning in our room was faulty but we were moved seamlessly to the room next door. Nothing was ever a hassle for reception. The location of the hotel is great, provided you've a car. Port Aventura/Ferrari Land are both just a few minutes' drive away. Tarragona, Salou, Reus, Cambrils and La Pineda are all within 15 minutes' drive.
Just come back from 4 nights away, the check in was really quick and easy, the room was lovely, really spacious and clean. It have a fridge and a safe (ours needed new batteries to work) kettle and air con. I booked it with breakfast which had loads of opinions and very filling. Down sides the wifi was very hit and miss, especially wanting to FaceTime my son, it was a bit on and off. The free shuttle they offered is during summer period ONLY but they don't state when summer period is. We ended up getting a taxi (€13 not €5, which we were told) because the bus time table is really difficult to understand and the reception kept giving us a time table for July when we are in June. Once into Salou we went to a bus shop (bus PLANA) they spoke English and gave us a up to date bus timetable, the bus runs to this hotel only 6 times a day so planning is vital. Would go back if transport was easier or rented a car for the commute to the beach.
Returned to hotel on 2nd (business) occasion to find room AC's still not working, despite all sorts of obfuscation from staff. Disappointed, as otherwise nice hotel with good facilities and reasonable prices, very close to current work location. Hope that the cooling can be sorted very soon, as anticipate returns to the area in June & maybe July.
This was our second visit to this hotel which is ideally situated close to the motorway for an overnight stop. The room we had on the top floor was immaculately prepared and also had the benefit of a small kitchen and fridge for those wishing to self cater. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in sorting out problems. I would have given this review 5 stars if there had been some heating available in the room, but the management had switched it off the week before during a warm spell and only air conditioning was working which is not much help when it is raining outside and only 12 degrees. Perhaps this policy of trying to economise is a little short sighted! However, the staff sorted out the cold room by finding me a portable heater which was fine. Breakfast was good with a wide choice. I would recommend this hotel, if they sort out the heating situation.
Quick efficient registration at reception. Large pleasant room with comfortable bed. Lovely view of the fountain on the roundabout. Lots of cafes and restaurants around for coffee, tapas and dinner. All round an excellent choice for us.
The Hotel is easy to find. The check in fast and we got the access for our room in no time. The very room modern and very nice decorated. The Bed comfortable. The room very quit. Disadvantage we had a room with the indoor connection to the another room. The party in the other room was very noisy and woke us up in the morning. The breakfast buffet was nicely presented. The taste of cafe from the automatic coffee machine could be improved, admitting taste are very personal. The check out easy with a very friendly staff. Thank you . If the area we will come back.
Staff overall extremely kind and helpful, except one lady in the restaurant. We had an upgrade to a suite upon arrival, a nice surprise. The suite was clean and welcoming but some things are really not acceptable for a 4 star hotel such as the state of the mirror against the wal in the bathroom, the broken ceiling in the bathroom and the rusty pull-out mirror. The rest of the suite was fine. The menu in the restaurant was good especially for this price; 12€ starter plus main or 16€ starter + main + dessert! Our diner on our last night was however a disaster. Open until 23h, we ordered at 22h05 and were simply forgotten until 22h50. We then received a messy salad, drinks were forgotten but later offered. The waiter, who was very nice and efficient, did double shifts during our whole stay (breakfast plus late shift) and was visibly dead tired. Distance to the parc is perfect when visiting Portaventura.
nice clean an tidy hotel.very nice staff always willing to help.its a bit out of town and away from the beach but close to fortaventuera parks.enjoyed our stay tho,an certainly worth going back to again.
