My sixth visit. Very reasonably priced for a night's stay en-route to the Spanish coast. Sadly the restaurant was closed due to electrical problems but on previous trips, meals have been fine. Very pet friendly
The hotel is a little tired and needs a refresh of paint and fittings. The bedroom block is well away from the main road so no traffic noise. Access is only via the N10 southbound and you need to keep a sharp look out as it is a pain to turn around if you miss the entrance (look out for nearby funeral firm as a clue). I did check but there is no back entrance to the hotel from nearby industrial area. As my wife is diabetic the receptionist said that she would ask her colleague to try bring in some wholemeal bread for breakfast - but next morning the staff said nothing had been requested. As dark and cold outside, my wife and I ate at the hotel restaurant. The evening buffet was poor both in quality and range of choice and looked far from fresh. Equally choosing the main menu produced a not very enjoyable meal. The breakfast was adequate and up to average budget French equivalents. Over many years we have stayed in various Campanile hotels in France and whilst the staff were friendly, we have no plans to stay in this Poitiers Campanile again
Bad service to make a internet booking and no understanding from reception employee. As regular customer we will stop with staying at Campanile. Advise: make an option for English language, to answer your survey questions.
This is our second favourite Campanile, having stayed in dozens ... number one is Mandelieu and by far the very worst, Troyes Sud, this for the staff's treatment of foreigners! Don't book there! Poitiers is fine ... the rooms have been done, the food OK and the staff friendly - all you need - good for them!
This was our first visit to a refurbished Campanile Hotel after years of lower end motels. The room was outstanding for the price, the staff welcoming and helpful and the location ideal for an overnight break on a long trip home from Spain. The restaurant food was excellent, both an evening meal and breakfast. We were served an excellent bottle of wine on the recommendation of the receptionist/waitress. We will return on our next trip to Spain and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
This was our fourth stay here. As always very good. Decent sized, modern, clean functional rooms. Huge comfortable beds. We had ground floor room backing onto green area, perfect for walking our dog in a safe place. Room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was nice for evening meal. Good food, good selection, good service, nice wines, good value. Only improvements would be ,..... more towels. Two towels for two people is not enough, a hand towel would be nice. Also one English speaking channel, BBC or CNN. Many people staying here are English. Will stay again on our next trip. Good, pet friendly, comfortable placed to stay.
Lovely clean spacious rooms and bathrooms. It's ideal if you have children as some rooms are interconnecting. The rooms have tea/coffee making facilities which is always a bonus. Central location. Didn't use the restaurant but there are a few places to eat nearby. Can't fault it and would definitely book again.
The building on the outside looks tired but inside the bedrooms they are fine. Comfortable and clean and fairly well equipped. I would suggest two towels per person would be better than the one but that's the only negative on the room. The food however is another thing. We had the evening meal of the day and we had two of the four possible selections. Small portions and dried up looking like it had been microwaved. The worst part was been charged 6.5 euros for half a pint of beer! We were going to have breakfast but decided McDonalds up the road would be better quality and value. Stay here for the room only.
Overnight stay on road trip to Southern Spain. More of a motel on the edge of Poitiers by a trading estate. Saying that, it was comfortable, had very good facilities and the rooms were quiet and away from the road in a deceivingly almost rural setting. Good English spoken by staff (better than our French!) who were very helpful. Has its own restaurant which served a good range of food including daily specials, and the continental breakfast bar was very well stocked and replenished. Ask for a room at the back of the complex - we were able to sit outside them in perfect peace and watch the birds flying round - and the bats as the night drew in! Basically it had everything you need for an overnight stay - well recommended.
This is a cheap and comfortable option for an overnight stay, it reminded me of an American motel. There is plenty of parking and the reception and restaurant are in a separate building to the accommodation. The rooms are basic and decorated in a functional style but are perfectly clean and comfortable with a good quality mattress and a good shower. Unfortunately the walls are very thin and we could hear our neighbours' conversations really clearly. If you are on a tight budget and are not planning to spend any time in your room other than for sleeping then the Campanile should meet your needs. It is located in a retail park and there are a few options for dinner nearby as long as you are happy with chain style restaurants.
