I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The location is great- just across the street from the main train station. Metro station is around 100m away and only 3 stops from Stephansplatz. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was ok, but pillow was the most uncomfortable I have ever used. Bathroom was clean, but without any towel rack or hook to place the clothes while taking a shower.
This place is in a great location - straight across the road from Vienna's main station (hauptbahnhoff). 500m walk to the entrance. The breakfast buffet is a good show (EUR7 each). There isn't really good space for 2 decent size travel bags, but it is doable. Beds were fine, although the room was a little too warm. Please note: if you have mobility issues, this hotel may not be suitable. There is a step into the building and 8 steps to get to the (rather small & slow) elevator. If you are in a wheelchair, you should probably look elsewhere.
One of the worst hotel with arrogant receptionist. Rooms were very poor for the money we pay. No proper room service. Only one lift that too not working properly. Location is the only good thing about the hotel
It is literally crossing the street from Vienna‘s main station. It is clean and nice, better than in the pictures I would say. If you’ll be staying for a short time period, especially if you’re going to another destination by train it‘s perfect. But... The single bed is really really small, the rooms are not sound Proof so I didn’t have good rest since I woke every time I heard someone opening their door because I thought it was mine. Also, because you can hear the cars from the street all the time.
I spend quite some time in hotels and I think I've never been in a worse one in this price category. It would be ok-ish if it were not for the horrible noise you get all day and night. Mainly, their doors are somehow made to create a minor earth-quake in the whole hotel every time somebody closes them wherever in the hotel. Hearing even the slightest noise any of your 3 neighbors make is just an added bonus.
Great location if you want to stay for just one night and catch the train. Be aware that this hotel is located on a busy avenue. No AC, and a limited amount of fans, not in every room. Otherwise, in the hot summer you can only sleep with the windows open. Bring ear plugs. Rooms in the back must be quieter I can imagine. The sink in my room was tiny, and only at 70cm high mounted which is just above my knees. For one night ok, but will not return.
My husband and I stayed at the Congress hotel only one night but really haven’t got much nice to write about it. We got to the hotel slightly earlier than check in time and were met but a rude receptionist who said we can’t check in until 2. He very reluctantly offered us to leave our luggages there. When we eventually checked in we got to the room and found that tv and hot water wasn’t working. Rung the receptionist and he said he’d send someone over. Lady that probably cleans the rooms started fixing things but admitted that this sometimes happens. I insisted that it gets fixed so she ended up calling someone over from another hotel who resolved the tv issue but not hot water. I must admit the hot water eventually came on in the evening. Now good things. Location! Right next to main train station with great links into historic centre of Vienna as well as link directly to the airport and out of Vienna. I also liked some of the decor in the room. All in all ok for one night stay.
The weather in August was so hot and humid but the hotel or the room has no air-con. There is tiny fan on the table to cool down the whole room. Each bed has only a very flat pillow and our shoulders ached after 1 night. We have to leave our hotel keys to the reception when we went out which cause anxiety to new travellers. There isn't enough power points to charge our electricial devices for if we charge them, we cannot have the lights turned on, the room will be very dark. The water in the shower is very low in pressure, the water is insufficient for a nice hot shower. Instead of enjoying our stay, we hate coming back to the hotel.
Bathroom was ok. Room wasn’t the cleanest. Was very small felt like a prison cell. View was non existent. No liners in the bin. Very very thin walls. Was woken up by noises in the corridors and a couple knocking boots. Very dingy. Didn’t feel safe walking in this hotel. Location is perfect nonetheless. But you can get better value accommodation in the area
The room have no aircondition, the phone at the room was not functioning upon discovery because I wanted to ask something through phone to the reception. The staff or lady who took the phonecall using my own mobile to reached them was not apolegetic on why we can not used the phone. She just said that it was not working. Asked if it is only in our room she said it was all phones in the building. So you need to make a call direct from your mobile if there is any problem. Another thing is that there are no plastics in both garbage container, 1 in the room and 1 in the toilet. So everything we thrown goes direct to the cans and it was so unhygienic. One of the electricity outlet in room 212 is not functioning as well. My friend needs to charge her phone in other electric outlet and it should be also be informed with regards to honesty and lacking on the hotel side to us. Instead of relaxing while she used her phone while lying on bed she needed to sit on the table to charged her phone.
