I can't find any negative points at all ,staf excellent, room excellent ,food excellent, seroundings excellent. The view from the restaurant was amazing ,this was the best view a had wile having diner ever , the food was so good and also the staff in the restaurant was very nice .
The hotel is situated approximately 2 km out of the town centre and you are not able to walk directly down the road to town as it is far too dangerous. Therefore a drive is required, so no drinking and driving. The turning into the hotel is very sharp so be vigilant when approaching for the first time. The views from the hotel were lovely. We had a standard room which overlooked the car park, but being on the third floor meant we had some view of the mountains. The rooms were clean and tidy, nothing special. The reception were at times struggling to communicate in English and I am afraid to say my Spanish is limited. However we got through eventually. We stayed for seven nights using the Hotel as a base to travel and hike around the area. We were unable to convince the hotel to allow us to use the indoor pool after a long days walking without the huge additional spa charge, which I found very annoying as I have been to some of the top hotels in Austria and never experienced this!! Incidentially, the out door pool was not open, so not an option as presented by the hotel when researching the booking. Very disappointing. Food. Well what can I say? The menu for 7 days was limited. The starters fairly varied, but main actually quite poor, with some of the Chef's selection not available for 6 of the days! Additional charges for chef's selection, including the Ravioli which seemed ridiculous considering pasta with prawns was on the main menu. They seemed incapable of cooking meat properly with several meat dishes being returned as we were unable to eat the bleeding pork that was served. I will give them credit they did replace the meal but that takes time to cook another meal, so meal times got stretched out somewhat.Make sure you ask for very well cooked , no blood in Spanish preferably, that seemed to work eventually. Portions were huge to the extent of being a little off putting.Wine by the bottle pricey. Breakfast was not top notch with cool to cold cooked food which again was limited. The continental selection reasonable but over priced. Overall this hotel is over priced for what I expected and the reluctance to allow the use of the pool alone when the spa was clearly not being frequented seems stupid. It is probably a good place for hopping and stopping through the area for 2-3 nights but I would be reluctant to go for longer.
We stayed for three nights as a group of four adults. The rooms were very comfortable although without the view over the town and valley. I guess you have to pay extra for these but that wasn't clear from the website. The staff at reception, in the bar and restaurant were always friendly and helpful. The food was good and if anything the portions were overgenerous. There was a good choice at breakfast to suit all nationalities. There is an excellent view from the bat and restaurant just as advertiseed! We could not really fault our stay. Unlike most paradors this one doesn't seem to be well signposted from the town and as it is some distance above the town you may think you have missed it.
This is a modern Parador and therefore does not have the history of many other Paradors. However it does have the advantage of being much brighter internally. Food was good and served efficiently by the staff. We had a suite on the top floor facing east which was well appointed but tight for space. The disappointing aspect of this Parador was that there is a charge for the Spa, which costs Parador Amigos €22 after 3.00pm - very expensive
The views are great and the staff at the one dinner we had in the hotel were top notch. The rooms are very average and the spa is not worth wasting your time and money in. We payed the additional 50 Euros for two of us to use the amenities but quickly realized that the tubs were not very hot and as such we left after 5 minutes. We asked for a refund because the experience was not what we had expected but the staff did not seem to care and only said that is the temperature of the pools and that we should have asked. After going to 4 different employees in search of a manager they decided to only charge us for 1 person which was appreciated but I wish they had just offered that the first go around. I don't know why they just don't include the spa in the price of the rooms so that this is no longer an issue. Stay for the views don't waste your money at the spa.
The hotel is old - perfect for an early 80's TV show. They save in heating. Heating is off and it's 6 degrees outside. Friendly staff though. The valley is amazing, worth visiting, but only come to this hotel after they do a renovation. It is time for it!
The location of the parador is wonderful with a nice view towards the Vall d'Aran, the staff was very kind, the food was delicious and the spa very comfortable. Not far from Baqueira and very near to Vielha.
The situation is excellent. The room good (if you pay extra for balcony and view). Service average. Huge disappointment is that although advertised as a spa hotel with all the facilities one would expect even though you are staying you have to pay to use them! 25€ a half day each person. So if like us, you have been skiing all day and just want to chill in the jacuzzi for 1/2 hour it would cost you 50€ so we didn't bother. Luckily all rooms have a good size bath.
This is a nice hotel with nice views. The food was good at the hotel. A good location to wonder around the area, there is a nice bar in the hotel were the service was also good We had a nice time at this hotel.
The hotel is very nice in a good location with great view from the superior rooms, all the staff that we encountered were very friendly and helpful, the waiting staff in particular were very effecient and professional and the food was of good quality and well presented. The room was large and comfortable with lovely views down the valley, however it did seem a bit dated with very creaky floor boards. The dinning room and bar are very nice and comfortable, the real fire in the centre of the bar lounge is a lovey feature and made it feel quite cosy, the only negatives I can comment on is that the ambiance of the Bar/Lounge and Restaurant would have been a lot better if they had dimmed the lights a little as it was too bright, I think that a large christmas tree and lights in the foyer/lounge would have given the hotel a more festive feel. We would definately return to this hotel and if the few minor negataives were addressed then it would have score top marks.
