We started out as a 4 day stay and ended up with 8 days here, best B&B I have ever stayed at, room accommodations were excellent, everything you need and then some, home made breakfast from waffles to eggs Benedict, all made from scratch!! Thanks to Dieter and Paphada and they’re recommendations of whale watching excursion, Butchart historical gardens to taking a day trip on the ferry to salt springs and starting out a morning with a Thai facial by Paphada as well as hopping in the hot tub or watching the sunset on the pier with otters, herons and wildlife, thank you Dieter and Paphada for truly an amazing trip giving us lifelong memories, I can’t wait to come back in the summer with my family, you two are truly one in a million!!!
My wife and I cycled the Galloping Goose this fall and stayed at Birds of a Feather for two nights. The place is spotless and the staff were wonderful. The breakfast was impressive....home made muffins and croissants !!!!. We would highly recommenced Birds of a Feather.
I am thoroughly impressed with every aspect of Birds of a Feather! The grounds are Gorgeous, and the view is unlike any other! Floor to ceiling windows let you look out over the lagoon, the ocean, and you can see a Castle! I saw So many different birds, eagles and an otter, all from the kitchen table!! Gourmet breakfast is served hot and fresh every morning. Dieter and Paphada have made me feel like family! This is my first trip to Canada but it is definitely not my last, and I plan on staying at Birds of a Feather every visit!!
Wonderful place to relax after a hectic Bus & train tour in Canada. Good location for visiting Victoria and area. Breakfast was delicious. We had to leave early after our 2nd night and the night before, we were graciously provided a yummy breakfast of yogurt, banana & fresh muffins for early morning breakfast in our room. Amenities are nice—-the kayak, hot tub—-really comfy robes. Beautiful sunrise views from our deck.
Please do not skimp on your stay here, you won’t want to leave! Dieter and Paphada are lovely, down to earth people and I will miss them just as much as their amazing property. The Lagoon is one of my favourite places to be as a Southern Van Isle native, so staying here was as close to home as it gets. Peace of mind, sanctuary, delicious breakfasts, long, languid mornings in the sun, affordable luxury, romantic, beautiful accommodations, orange sherbet sunrises and amazing photo opportunities. I was fortunate in a strange way, to experience 3 of the rooms here, simply because I didn't book a long enough stay when I was originally looking, so I lucked out with an availability here and there during the week once my 4 nights was over. It was hilarious coming and going, like an old friend returning, and I'd say, "I'm baaack", where I enjoyed each room and all the space to the fullest. I was encouraged to feel at home, to ask for anything I needed, and they were all happy to oblige; such generous folks here. I love this place, I miss it already. Thank you Dieter and Paphada for the wonderful memories. See you next time, Jennifer.
we came back for the 2nd time and it was again just a wonderful stay! tranquil backyard with various places to chill out, peaceful lagoon which the kayaks can be used on, clean room and an especially tasty breakfast!
We spent four nights and four wonderful days here from August 11 to August 14, 2019. We loved every minute of it. Dieter is a wonderful host. Every breakfast was different and excellent. He is an absolute encyclopedia of information on local places of interest, from tourist traps to unknown gems. His tips made our experiences even better. Our room was outstanding. Fireplace, high-def TV, a full kitchen, loft with extra beds, private balcony for eating with swing and outstanding view. Hot tub on shared deck, pier with canoes, kayaks, swans, geese, ducks, seagulls, and even a mink! Lagoon is protected from ocean and calm as glass. Protected as a bird sanctuary complete with castle, lighthouse, and historic fort. We could not believe our luck in finding this outstanding resort. We plan to return as often as we can. Hi Dieter - Thank You and your staff for having us at your lovely B&B. We enjoyed the lovely surroundings and personal touches. The breakfast was magnificent and the care in which you show to your guests makes the stay a complete success....Bill & Bette
The suites were already booked months ago when we booked which is hardly surprising when you see this beautiful paradise. We were nervous about booking an "Economy Room" downstairs but had been referred by friends who had previously stayed there so we gave it a try. While the double bedroom is small I have to say we had one of the best sleeps ever. The place is on the waterfront at the end of a cul-de-sac and is exceptionally quiet. The bed was super comfy and clean. This room also has its own private entrance. No views from this room but it's also almost half the cost of the suites and we still got to enjoy the property, the dock, the free bikes and kayaks and delicious hot breakfast that exceeded our expectations. There are numerous outdoor sitting areas but reading my book while crashed on the old leather couches in the waterfront sunroom was a treat. Beautiful place. Warm hospitality. Book early for a suite but the rooms are still a treat given this setting looking at Hatley Castle to the left ad the back end of cruise ships downtown to the right.
Dieter and Paphada stood as our witnesses and they had arranged for our commissionaire to come there and made our wedding day very special.Room was delightful bouquet of flowers and clean with spectacular views. They also have a B&B in Thailand so we let them arrange our Honeymoon. They picked us up in Bangkok from our hotel. We drove 6hrs to Buriram where there Birds of a feather B&B was. They toured us Elephant sanctuary,Temples and Historical Sites and even arranged a meeting with a famous Monk.Lots of great food places with night markets we were getting the True Thai Experience. After Buriram We headed North on a 5 day Journey to PAI our final destination. We saw many places because of there knowledge of THailand and places to see .Dieters experience in Driving Thailand the way THAI Drive on opposite side of road .Paphada able to speak Thai was very comforting and getting a better knowledge of what we are seeing. When we got to PAI they made sure we got a great deal at a very nice resort to wind down. They also prearranged a great spot for us in Chang Mia for our final 5days before coming home.We highly recommend this Tour with the kindness nicest and funny Relaying couple. There hearts are simply meant for there B&B and Tour Guides..Barry&Shelley Bissonnette
