The Kingdom is still impressive. Stayed here in 1990 when it was Makasa Sun. Then in 2010 and again know. The rooms are pleasant and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. Located close to the falls and town walking distance. Lovely atmosphere.
Great hotel, friendly service, walking distance to falls, fantastic buffet breakfast! Big rooms, lovely setting. Real and Royal African experience. Even provided us with umbrellas in the rain, activity suggestions etc. Great, welcoming reception!
The hotel was very neat and clean. Staff was courteous and very helpful. Breakfast can be more efficient as you sometimes had to wait for bread and other items. The location to the falls was excellent as it was a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
We are just back from a 5 week tour of SA finishing off with 3 days at the Kingdom Vic Falls, great choice. the hotel is very well laid out with pools and gardens and only a short walk via the back gate to the entrance to the falls. Could not fault any of the serving staff, helpful, smiling, nothing was to much trouble, " keep in mind tipping is a major part of their life" main stay staff not quite so smiley but polite. We had booked a standard room, on arrival at reception asked to see the booked room plus a better upgrade room, It was explained that the rooms were the same size and the upgrade room was fitted out to a higher standard and be in a better position but would cost an extra $60 per day, "plus we would get a free mini bar" after viewing both rooms we decided on the upgrade, with the "free mini bar". first job after unpacking was to check the mini bar " which was empty " we the had a walk about for a couple of hours, on our return and ready for a cool glass of wine , checked the mini bar to find it was still empty, at which point went to customer service to request it was filled and explained that we only wanted white wine and beer in the fridge as that was what we drank, fine said customer service and after we had dinner and returned to our room there in the mini bar was a bottle of warm wine and two small bottles of warm beer. we got some ice from a bar and made the best of it on the porch drinking the wine and one beer. Next day was a repeat of the first, only the wine was replaced plus one beer. Third day nothing, so back to customer service, this time it was explained to me, that the "free mini bar " was for day one only, after I explained that of bottle of SA wine and two beers was over price at $180 we were then offered a complimentary sundowner glass of wine at the bar. So future guest at the Kingdom BEWARE, make reception explain in detail what you are to get for your upgrade, Vic Falls are really good, worth the visit. As for the trinket sellers just keep walking.
This place is huge! We stayed here for 3 nights as we visited Victoria Falls (both the Zimbabwe and Zambia sides) and took a one day safari to Chobe National Park in Botswana. Our room was spacious, with a small balcony and a great view of the African masked weavers singing and playing in the reeds. So very pretty! The wifi was very good and fast in downloading our many photos. The location is a short walk to the entrance of the Victoria Falls rainforest and to the small town of Victoria Falls. Our breakfast, which was included, had variety and was very tasty. We had a couple of meals at the pool bar which were very good. We did have supper once at Spur Steak House which we found very uncomfortable due to the humidity and heat and no air conditioning. Also, the pool was very refreshing after being out in the heat. A very lovely place!
I had a wonderful experience at The Kingdom. Service was excellent all round. All the staff were helpful. The airport shuttle service was superb. If the place can have a gym that will be a big plus. Thank you
We spent two nights in this wonderful, impressive hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. It is very conveniently located for Victoria Falls - about a 5-10 minute walk and set in the middle of jungle - we needed an escort to the Lookout Café from the hotel (another 5-10 minute walk) in case of elephants or buffalo! All the staff were very friendly and efficient, especially the guards who check you out of the hotel when you leave, especially to the Lookout - and check you back in. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a great bathroom - probably the best shower on the 2 week trip around South Africa and Victoria Falls. We were on the ground floor and had a small patio from where we could see a sign informing us that any animals we saw were wild and shouldn't be fed. In fact not long after checking in, we saw some vervet monkeys and baboons wandering past the patio, which was fantastic. The only slight problem is it is quite expensive for food and drink - $3 for a bottle of local beer (Zambezi) and the buffet dinner wasn't anything special but cost $30 per person. If you add a bottle of wine to dinner you'll be looking at around $90 for two people, which is a bit excessive for a self service buffet. Also the waiters and waitresses seemed to expect a tip for everything - opening a bottle of beer, bringing a bottle of screw-cap wine to the table and opening it, despite it not being the one I ordered and being about 50% more expensive (the original choice had sold out, apparently). However, the buffet breakfast was great and was included in our stay. Other than this small detail, we had a great time and would definitely recommend it.
Excelent hotel, the staff was very nice and help us in everything we need. The breakfast was great. The rooms very clean and comfortable. Is near the falls and also near the town so you can go and have dinner outside.
Stayed here in November perfect location for visiting Victoria falls. Clean tidy rooms with excellent customer service I would definitely recommend this hotel. They helped with planing a helicopter trip in quick time as we were only there for 2 nights. We had a bottle of wine as a birthday treat special touch and meant a lot thank you.
Two nights in this impressive hotel. Wonderful setting with baboons in abundance. The staff from arrival to departure faultless. The rooms in keeping with the rest of the hotel are luxurious and gifft shop has a delightful assistant in attendance.
