Novotel Suites Paris Velizy4.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is clean and bright and is located a short walking distance from the Velizy 2 shopping center and Ikea where it is possible to get some food in the evenings. Velizy isn't the most attractive of destinations and the hotel's location is no exception. The room is a good size, light and bright. The bathroom and toilet are in a kind of portacabin within the room which is a bit odd but everything seemed to work well enough. The breakfast on offer gives a reasonable range of alternatives including fruit, cereal, and conventional continental style breakfast foods. The hotel is a practical choice for anyone who wants to stay overnight on route to somewhere else or for business people with an office nearby.
A short stay to visit Paris. It is true the hotel is a bit far, its advantage that it has a free secured parking, the rooms are spacy and adapted for a family, and the tramway is at 3 minutes walk. However, I highly recommend not to take the breakfast at the hotel. It is very expensive, and there is not enough space to sit and eat.
This is my second stay at Novotel Suites in Velizy. The hotel provides good comfortable rooms. However the sleep quality this time around was not very good. The central AC ducts are focused on one side and the beds on other. It was quiet hot in Paris in September and the AC was wholly inadequate to cool the room. The location is good with the hotel being 15 mins walk from the companies at Velizy and just 5 mins by Tram.
Location This place is not on any Paris Metro line but is on the T6 tram route and on a few bus routes. Public transport in Paris is a bit of a minefield to me and I settled on buying a book of 10 tickets from the machine at the tram stop and then using them on tram/bus/metro. They worked out at €1.45 each. There are rules about what you can/cannot use them on, e.g. you can use one ticket on up to 2 busses within 1h30m but you're not meant to use the same ticket on a tram and then metro. Hotel parking is excellent - secure, free, underground. Turning space is tight though. Reception was friendly. I think we had the Hispanic looking guy that was mentioned in earlier reviews. Room Room was generally clean, but had hairs left from previous guest(s) Space - we booked the "Superior Suite" which was plenty big enough. It came with fridge & microwave - very handy. Room temperature was adjustable and we found a comfortable level. The lights stayed on for a few moments when the door card/key was taken out. Keeping the door card/key next to phone did not wipe the card (unlike in some other hotels I've stayed in) There was in-room tea/coffee, including a nice little coffee dispenser that took coffee capsules. An ironing board was available on 6th floor but we didn't end up using it. The bed was comfortable. There was a power socket on one side of the bed only (why not both sides for charigng phones?) There wasn't much noise apart from during the day when the floors above were being renovated. The view from our window was the Velizy 2 shopping centre across the road. I really thought there'd be a short walk under the road to get there, but the only route was the long way round (or a 1 stop tram ride) The wifi was exceptionally good - e.g. streamed YouTube videos in good quality fine. Bathroom No shaving mirror Came with hair dryer Toiletries were the usual wall mounted hair/body wash No dressing gowns supplied We had an actual bath tub Shower had good quality fittings Bathroom had heated mirror (I think) because it didn't mist up when using shower Toilet roll quality was 2 ply - I've seen worse The toilet & bathroom came in a self contained unit - made me feel like I was on a boat! Word to management - the pipes to the tap in the toilet unit leak if left on the cold setting. This should be fixed (room 602). Breakfast When booking on the internet it wanted an extra £24 per night to include breakfast so I gave it a miss. On arrival they said €15 each for a continental breakfast. Ikea (5 mins walk) had a €1 breakfast deal for coffee, orance juice and two small croissants (additional croissants €0.30). Okay it wasn't the most filling but it was much better value for money than in the hotel. The Ikea shop had bags of soft cinnamon croissants that we also bought - yummy!
A good Novotel Suite. We (family of four) used it as a one night stopover back to the UK. Friendly welcome, everything ready as requested. Room spotless and comfortable. Normally we bring our own food to Suites but has to revert to their offerings. Whilst it tasted good, it is overpriced. We might finally give up on paying for breakfast next time - always been poor value. Underground parking but we were in front of the hotel as there is a 2m height limit. Overall, does the job, a known and trusted offering. PS. Don't go here thinking you are within easy access to Paris. Think it mostly caters for business during the week.
I found this hotel to be a nice property from stay perspective. If you are on a business travel and want to find a place to stay for a comfortable and peaceful sleep, this is surely a good place to stay. Staff is quite friendly and you feel at home!
This was the hotel I stayed in with a big group, for my first nights out of country. I quite liked the room, and it was comfortable. Breakfast was good, with plenty to last the morning. The staff was helpful, and nice.
Our family of 27 stayed at this hotel to be close to Versailles and outside of the busy, crowded Paris area. It was close to a tram stop to get to the metro to visit the sights in Paris. It is close to the Velizy2 shopping mall with numerous places to eat. Chez Clement, one of our favourite restaurants is just 9 minutes walk down the street fronting the hotel. The children loved the game table, Foosball, interactive computer screen in the lobby which also has a mini-mart for snacks and light meals. The parents of small children appreciated the ability to curtain off their sleeping area from the children's sleeping area. The Krups coffee maker uses Nespresso capsules! We loved this place!
Couldn't fault this place nice room standard of the hotel was good for Novotel nice breakfast each morning the staff were helpful and very close to the tram network T6 which can take you anywhere would stay here again if needed no problems at all worth considering.
I have been several times in the past in the Novotel Suites in Velizy in the past and I enjoyed the price/quality ratio. Spacious rooms give you a feeling of a home office (my standard environment). This time I was extremely disappointed as apparently a lot of visitors were in the region and the price went up to 204 Euro for a single night without breakfast (normally I paid around 140 Euro including breakfast). Anyway you do not go to a French hotel for breakfast - the French try to minimize it. Disappointing for this stay was the fact that the check-in was cumbersome and the complimentary bottle of mineral water was not there the second day (for 200 Euro/night you would expect some service) Conclusion: for the moment the Novotel is at the bottom of my potential candidates when visiting this region. Price/quality is not matching anymore
