Loved this property and was so impressed with the size of the bathroom and the quality breakfast. Beware, although there is a lift, there were also thirteen steps in total to negotiate with our luggage. On our arrival, we were given assistance from the female staff, on departure, we were given none, even though we had booked help. The male staff watched me go up and down in the lift four times to collect our luggage. Hence, four stars, not five.
We had a junior suite for 3 adults and there was ample room for bags and to move around. It was nicely decorated and the beds super comfortable. Having a decent bathroom with separate toilet was a real bonus. The staff were extremely helpful wit tips on where to eat, helping out with a few other issues and making sure our stay was as good as possible. The room had a great view over the square where we could see street performers and the odd wedding from the windows. It was a little noisy on a Saturday night from the odd person shouting in the square but that is to be expected. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Booked this hotel after checking it had Parking at the hotel. The concern initially was that the parking is not at the hotel but at the nearby underground car park. However the distance from the Hotel was very short and was therefore not an issue at all and should not be a barrier to anyone staying here even if you have lots of luggage. We booked a room with a small terrace which was on the 5th floor. A really nice room with outside space and a queen size bed. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and a good place to end our short stay. Immediately outside the hotel are numerous bars cafes, the Palais de Papes, the famous bridge and the pedestrian shopping area are within minutes walk. Staff were welcoming, friendly and completed the perfect stay in a town well worth a few days exploring. Will definitely return in years to come.
Hotel de l'Horloge's service is superb. The front desk customer service in particular was excellent throughout the two times I was there; service was seamless as staff changed shifts. Very professional, yet very friendly and very helpful. I loved the shoe shines in the hallway!
Overall a great hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable if a bit small and dated - a bit of renovation would go a long way in the hallways, but retains a sort of charm. As other reviewers have noted the highlight of this hotel may be the location, and the delicious breakfast. There are fresh tomatoes, a machine for squeezing your own fresh orange juice, little egg cooker for cooking soft boiled eggs to your liking, and soft, crusty baguettes and crispy croissant. Definitely recommend this place!
Hotel de l'Horloge is centrally located but quiet. Staff is gracious and helpful. Room was small but comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was the best we've ever had at a hotel. An excellent hotel, and we highly recommend it.
Like the hotel. Like the location. Like the atmosphere. Like the breakfast. Like the room. Like the staff. Like the coffee maker. Like the safe box. This is perfect timing to come here. This is perfect.
Very friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Street-side room was a little noisy to sleep with open windows, but rooms away from the square are very quiet. Our room lacked a real sitting area, and the lobby didn’t really have much of a place to relax, either. The hotel is well-located, in the heart of things, and the atmosphere is welcoming, I would recommend for a brief stay in Avignon.
I stayed a couple of nights at the centre of city. The reception staff were very kind and have warm hospitality. Amenity goods in the bath room have good quality. In my case I could not find any taxi at Avignon central station just after 22:00. I had to walk to the hotel with heavy suitcase and there are a few people on the street. I think female guests should consider the arrival time.
We had 3 great nights here. Staff were so helpful ..... even finding me an adaptor for my mobile phone cable (left mine on the train .....) and an umbrella when it rained (left that at home). It is possible to walk here from the city centre train station but I would not like to do it with a large suitcase and at 11pm at night .... which was our case due to Eurostar being very late and missing our TGV connection. Taxis from the TGV station at that time of night are few and far between ..... you HAVE to ring the number at the taxi stand to get one ..... or you could share one with an obliging local which is what we did ..... many thanks Madame x The hotel is very convenient for all the sights, breakfast was exceptional (even teapots for us English), there was a lift, the staff were very polite, helpful, etc etc - no complaints about them at all. Next time we go I will take earplugs because we like to have the window open at night and there was quite a lot of noise from the street with late night revellers and early morning businesses setting up ..... but if you like the window closed you will not need them.
