We visited here at the last minute as we were due to travel into the Alps but it had been snowing so we decided to head to Avignon instead. We originally booked in for one night but it was so nice and in such a perfect location that we stayed for two! We had a Superior room which was laid out with two double beds, a bathroom and a sitting room. It was very nice. The staff in the hotel were very polite and also very helpful, in particular Heather was extremely helpful and recommended a fantastic place for dinner on our final night, she even called ahead and made a reservation for us! The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the old city as it faces the old city wall, the only annoying thing was the roadworks out front as they were confusing and limited access to the front of the hotel. I suppose the good thing is that they won't be there forever! All in all a very nice stay.
Stayed here for two nights, had a junior suite, which was very nice, with a little lounge, & two double beds, bath & separate shower, & toilet. Staff were very helpful , especially Heather the American lady, told us of a great Pan Asian restaurant called Colonial, she called them up for us. My daughter is disabled so we needed room with her scooter. All was good, the owner was waiting outside for us when we arrived. The car was in a car park below the hotel, just took the lift straight up to the reception. Overall all was good, they were all very helpful.
A friend had stayed here and loved it. The location is good and were leaving on the train the next day. We were "upgraded" to a ridiculously large two-bedroom, two-floor suite. Had we known, we would not have gotten two rooms. First problem: no air-conditioning. We were sweltering and, of course, there are no screens on the windows so when we opened them, we were infested with mosquitos. Evidently, the air-conditioning is turned off in September - no matter how hot it is outside. The beds were hard as rocks. The icing on the cake was that when we tried to leave our room in the morning, were were locked in! A locksmith had to be called to let us out. The front desk lady was calm but completely uninterested or unconcerned regarding the situation. We were on the third floor. What if there had been a fire? A heart attack? Any emergency? Zero apologies from anyone, and the locksmith said the locks do this from time to time and need to be replaced every two or three years. After a rushed breakfast (which was excellent, I will say), we made it to our train on time.
Stayed here one night on our road trip Nice rooms and very helpful staff. Not a great view from the hotel We did not eat at the hotel as there was so much choice in the town Heather was incredibly helpful and had som great tips. Many thanks
Horrible no air conditioning the room was so hot and stuffy didn't get any sleep. They turn off their air conditioner in September so bad luck if it's warm and they are not accommodating Don't stay here find somewhere else if you want a comfortable night sleep
It's 9:15 at night and the temperature outside is 19 degrees but it's still sweltering hot in my room. Management have turned off the cooling, and won't reinstate it, so I'm it looks like I'm facing an unpleasant evening. Booked in for 3 nights, and tomorrow will be 29 degrees so really not impressed!
Stayed here for 6 nights. As many reviews have said, the rooms are spacious but the furniture is oh so dated and the bed uncomfortable. Shared the room with many mosquitoes and didn't get any sleep for couple of nights. No atmosphere in the lobby area although the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Just as well we planned a lot of trips and spent very little time in the hotel.
This is not at the level of a 4 star hotel. We had several problems with our stay. First, our room was full of mosquitoes. Between 2 of us we had 12 bites before our second night was over. When we called to tell them, they said they had no other rooms. After further persistence they said they "just had a cancellation" so we moved to the room. The second room on the ground floor had a sewage smell in the bathroom that was nauseating. I just shut the door and fell asleep...on an extremely wiry uncomfortable bed. When we went to checkout they said we hadn't paid yet, when we had prepaid. They found our paperwork finally and all was settled and we left. Overall, the rooms were big but dated. The staff was overall very pleasant, but we would not recommend this hotel.
The hotel is next to the local train station and a fifteen minute walk to the Popes Palace. If you are lucky enough to be greeted by Heather at the front desk you will be rewarded with great tips regarding Avignon. The rooms on the first floor facing the court yard are super. The rooms seem like a mini apartment. You have a refrigerator , and hot water. The bed is quite comfortable. The buffet breakfast has healthy choices. The swimming pool on the roof though small is nice. A very pleasant stay.
We were really dissatisfied with the room in this hotel, we stayed here after booking a superior room and I really couldn't believe my eyes when we opened the door, it was literally like going back in time 20 years. That said it was fantastically clean and ALL the staff were very very pleasant and welcoming, giving great information about the city on arrival and giving us all the information we needed to kick start our break. Come the end the room didn't matter so much but was certainly disappointed after paying a little extra for what I assumed to be a better room. As we were out and about a lot and also making use of the pool area on the roof it didn't matter so much. The pool area again was very clean, a little bit dated again if you were going to nit pick. I guess as the corridor and lobby was so nice (looked like it had been refurbished) maybe they will update the rooms soon?! Also the bar area although very clean wasn't very welcoming. Didn't feel like we wanted to spend any time here, was a little tucked out the way. I'd recommend the hotel if you don't feel room decor is a major part of your stay as it scored highly in every other way.
